My car was taken to Midas on the morning of 03/17/2025 . The car overheated and stalled in front of my son's house. While looking under the hood a belt seemed to be hanging and there was some fluid on the ground. My son and his father took it to Midas around the corner. The only communication that occurred was when my son called to see if the was ready. At the end of the day Midas called and said the car was done. At arrival Midas claimed they had to replace the water pump, serpentine belt ,and thermostat. The cost was $1403.74 ( $1,000 cash and $403.74 card). The check engine light was on. On Friday 03/21/2025 the card overheated and the check engine light was on . The car was towed back to Midas immediately. I spoke to Keith , Bill who stated he's been a mechanic for 25 years, and David who claimed to be a Supervisor. At this time they said they started the car and white smoke appeared. They admitted this did not occur on the previous visit. They also said the car has two thermostats they only replaced one and the gasket "blew" . They said they weren't aware of the second thermostat. I asked when the car was there how could they have properly diagnosed the issue ? There was varying stories as to taking for a test drive after the initial work that was done .They first said no, then change it to yes. Their negligence and failure to properly diagnose the issue with my car was intentional. They claimed they do not do head gasket work however they should be held responsible for the cost of that repair. I have reached out multiple times using the "Supervisor" number they provided with no response. They released the car with the check engine light still on and the didn't care as they were already paid $1403.74. I am requesting assistance in seeking a full refund so that my car can be properly fixed by another mechanic. I have attempted in good faith to resolve this issue Midas has not . They have only ignored me to date. I have a receipt upon request.
