      AVIS has the terrible policy of not allowing anyone to make changes to reservations anymore. It costs 50 dollars to cancel a reservation and rebook it. Not even a last minute thing, we are talking almost a full month out on the reservation. Attempted to change the reservation to accommodate flights and got fleeced for 50 bucks.

      Avis and Priceline Review: A Nightmare Car Rental Experience I recently had the worst car rental experience of my life, thanks to Avis and Priceline. It all started in downtown *****, where I was left waiting on the curb for two hours to pick up my car. No updates, no communicationjust me and my family stranded in the heat, wondering when wed finally get moving.When the car finally arrived, it reeked of cigarette smoke. The smell was so overpowering that my son became physically ill from it. Despite being labeled a non-smoking vehicle, it was clear that no effort was made to ensure the car was clean or livable for renters. But the nightmare didnt end there.While driving through a winter storm, the windshield wipers failed to work. This wasnt just an inconvenience; it was dangerous. I was forced to drive in unsafe conditions, putting my family and others at risk because of Aviss lack of maintenance on their vehicles.And to top it all off, when I finally got home, I was hit with an outrageous $750 charge for what Avis claims was a button-pressing glitch. Neither Avis nor Priceline confirmed this supposed mistake or provided any warning. It feels like I was scammed, plain and simple.This experience was beyond unacceptable. Avis and Priceline showed zero regard for customer service, safety, or accountability. I will never use either of these companies again, and I strongly urge others to think twice before booking with them. Save yourself the headache and the outrageous chargeschoose a company that values its customers.

      Avis values the relationship that we have with our travelers and always strives to do the right thing. We apologize for the inconvenience this matter has caused.

      We are incredibly sorry for the experience you had and the stated condition of the vehicle that you received. Although we realize that we cannot make up for a disappointing experience such as this, our records do show that our **************** team did discount the ********************** rate by 20%, due to the reported condition of the vehicle. This was a refund of $44.93. As far as the additional fee of $750.00, our records show that this was a one way fee. The reservation was booked as a round trip rental to pick up and return to the downtown ***** location, however the vehicle was instead returned to the *************** in *******, **. Had the rental been booked as a one way rental you would have been provided with a one way rate, please note that one way rentals are normally more expensive then a round trip rental. Based on our review, the one way fee is a valid charge.

      We reserved a Jeep Wrangler on Saturday 1/4/25. The reservation was for 1/6/25 to 1/10/25. My wifes van was in the shop for recall repairs. After dropping off my wife at the airport LEX to pick up the vehicle, she called me and they wouldnt let her have the vehicle. The rental payment had already been taken out of our bank account. They said they could not take a debit card from locals for rentals. I really dont know how this could be legal simply because of where you live. We tried to switch the card to a credit card but the desk clerk said she couldnt do that. We would have to call AVIS directly. We did and after being on the phone for at least 1hour and 30 minutes and being transferred through three people nothing changed. They had to cancel the original reservation and make a new reservation instead. This ended up raising the price of the rental by $35. I really dont understand why just switching a card or changing to a new reserv no would make the car go up $35. I would never recommend this business to anyone!!

      I tried reaching customer service by phone in total 4 times, taking almost 2 hours, nobody of the service desk is available. Other AVIS desks would not help even we asked several times. We have been threatened with collections for an amount of 42 for a car rental 4 months ago, mostly in French language. First we were not even told what this was referring to. They are totally random charges afterwards we never signed up to. Our bill is paid, it says 0 due. In order to spare us collections we tried to pay this amount over a French website and found out it was for "traffic violation admin fees". But the website didn't work so we couldn't pay. Finally after back and forth emails for a month we were enabled to pay and did, immediately. We have the receipt but we are still facing threats of collections 4 month later and nobody is helping us out. It has been a nightmare! Never again AVIS.

      Zero stars! We rented a car online on Saturday evening for pick up on Monday at ***********. Arrived and was told we couldnt pick up what we odwred and reserved because we used a debit Mastercard. The money had already been taken from Our account. But they offered us a smaller car for more money. They would not budge so we spent 2 hours on the customer service line and arguing with the customer service **************** and horrible customer service.

Please note that you are still able to pay with a debit card at the end of the rental but a major credit card is needed for the hold to secure the class of vehicle you booked.

      They are 100% crooks. The first time I returned a rental at airport I was charged for not filling the tank. I 100% did, and had to send them the receipt to get the money back. The second time I was charged $40/ day for an incident waiver that I 100% denied coverage for. And just two days ago I got another charge from them for the same rental. The receipt doesn't even say what it is for, but the total charges are more than the previous. My rental ballooned from $190 to $435! I'm done with AVIS and have disputed the additional charges on my credit card.

      Avis rent car agency failed to disclose a $******** charge to me and my family for emergency roadside assistance. *** now called their customer service 3-4 times and it has been such a horrible process. As a loyal Avis member I feel EXPLOITED as I looked to Avis to support my family and I when we popped a tire in an isolated part of west *****. As Avis explained their policy is to compensate customers if they the flat tire with a new tire. We called nearly every tire shop in a 100 mile radius, none had a tire that would fit our ****** Maxima rental. We then called Avis roadside assistance and they continually proposed solutions that didnt accommodate our extremely remote location. Meaning there is nothing in a 150+ mile range: ******** take an **** or Lyft, order a taxi and tow trucks. Finally, we reached a solution to receive a rescue car. The supervisor did not disclose the ******** charge. In order to reach Avis solution, we also compromised our safety in the following ways: 1. Drove over 100 miles on a spare tire For context the rule is to drive only 50 miles on a spare tire and not go above 50 mph 2. To extend the range of the spare, I drove 35 mph on a state highway with a speed limit of over 75 MPH An extremely dangerous speed to drive as Texas drivers infamously go 90 - 100 mph on these roads. 3. No cell service / rest area/ help for 70+ miles in the middle of the desert Due to seriousness of the situation, we had to notify local law enforcement in ************, family+friends and our B&B management in *****. The extreme lack of customer care and empathy from ********************** is beyond disappointing. To charge us over $2K and not disclose the cost is an unacceptable policy and their supervisor chose not to be transparent in a time of crisis.

      Avis charged me $250 for a cleaning fee for "excessive sand" on rental #******xxx dropped off at 07:38 AM PST on 12/16/24. I was not informed of this charge until the evening of 12/23/24 which is a week after the return was completed. Furthermore, I wasn't charged until today 01/04/25 (nearly 3 weeks after my rental). I don't believe this charge is accurate and seems very deceptive. There was a tiny amount of sand, nothing excessive. I will avoid Avis in the future at all costs, and recommend others do the same.

      Please note that per the rental terms and conditions it is your responsibility to return the vehicle back in the same or better condition than when it was rented. Failure to do so can result in up to a $450.00 cleaning fee. The rental counter has provided pictures to support the cleaning fee. Based on this we do find the cleaning fee to be a valid charge.

      I reserved a vehicle with large cargo space 2.5 weeks in advance & completed the advance check-in the day before. Upon arriving at the SAT terminal it took me 1.5 hours to advance in line to the counter. For a full 30 minutes the line did not move and several people were timing each customer encounter with the avg. being 10 min. & some people waiting at the counter for up to 25 minutes apparently because many cars were overbooked and not available when people with reservations (such as myself) arrived at the counter. When it was my turn I was told that the vehicle I reserved would not be available for 24 hours!!! (I also believe that some people were allowed to upgrade, further depleting the correct cars being available for those that reserved them.) I was told that my only option was a vehicle with much smaller cargo space and even switching out the vehicle for the correct option the next day would not be an option! After all this frustration I was assigned a vehicle with 5 different warning lights lit up on the dashboard and a bent license plate that constantly banged against the back of the car. To say that this was a terribly aggravating and headache-inducing situation is an understatement! I will never rent from Avis again and have advised several of my **************** to similarly avoid a company completely devoid of customer service and operational competence!

      WE RENT THOUGHT AVIS TO GO FROM AZ. TO **. Well we got the car and strared to drive we drove TX. To sleep work up the next day the car would not start so we call Avis and they wait $175.00 and it would be a 4 hour wait before they could get someone. So we told them we will call are owe copany they jump the car and we keep on drive till we got to **********. We stop to and we have two dog in the car so when stop to eat we had to trun off the car. Will we decide to see if it would start and it did not this was the ****** ******* i told my ***** to call Avis!!! He did he told them the car had a battery problem. The Roadside person on the phonr said he would wave $175 fee for then coming out but they won't be out for 4 hours why my dogs are in a car freezing. So i went out ti the frezzing car wait fot there guy to jump the car and Getvto the WICHTA AIR PORT! WHERE THERE WAS A AVIS COMPANY THERE IF GOT THE BEFORE 12 AM. BUT THE DIRCTOINS THE GAVE US WHERE WRONG SO WE STOP AT THE POLICE AIR PORT TI GET TO THE AVIS PLACE SO WE CAN GET ARE NEW CAR. WELL GET OUT OF CAR STILL RUNING IT STOP RUNING BY IT SELF SO WE TRY TO START UP AGAIN AND IT WOULD NOT START. CALL AVIS ROADSIDE ***** AND THE *** CUSTIMER SERVICE *** SAID THEY ONLY DO JUMP ONE TUME PER DAY PER CUSTOMER. SO AGAIN WE HAD TO CALL ARE OWE COMPANY TO GET A JUMP. AND HE ALSO TOLD US THEY NEVER WAVE THE FIRST $175 FOR ARE ***** JUMP. I THE ***S JUST SAID THAT TO GET US OFF THE PHONE.. WELL WE LOST SO MUCH MONEY AND TIME WITH THIS PROBLEM. MY FRIEND MISS HIS ***** FLIGHT HOME SO HE LOST THAT MONEY AND HE HAD TO GET ANOTHER TICKET HOME WTICH COST MORE MONEY THERE CUSTOMER SEVICE IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL THEY TRANSFFER YOU FROM ONE PERSON TO ANOTHER. AND YOU GET NOTHING DONE YOU JUST WAST YOUR TIME BEING ON THE PHONE WITH THEM. IT WAS CHEAPER TO GO THERE CAUSE WE USE A DIFFERENT COMPANY. WE ONLY USE AVIS CAUSE THEY WHERE OFFERING SPECIALS. IT WAS A SPECIAL FROM H*** I WILL NEVER GET A CAR FROM AVIS AGAIN.
