On Oct. 17th, 2023, SuperiorServicing took $799.00 as a "servicing fee" from me for consolidating my student loans. After that, on Oct. 30th and Nov. 30th, they took $49.00 out of my account as a "student loan payment" that was not going to my loans (which are actually through EdFinancial) but they were simply pocketing it. I called them just today after finding out that they are a scam, and they tried to claim that the servicing fee was a one-time payment of $49.00. I asked to be removed from their "program" and have contacted my bank about getting that money back. The $49.00 auto-payments were supposed to be loan payments. They were not. I am now behind on my loans.Business Response

Hello Treasure,
It sounds like you are confused on what we actually did for you. You signed a service agreement that went over everything our representative went over with you on the phone, meaning nothing was done without your consent. With the federal documents we prepared and sent you so you could mail to EdFinancial, your loans were consolidated and placed into an income based forgiveness program. From the beginning we made it very clear that there was a one time document preparation fee as well as a $49 is a monthly fee for us to service your student loan account so that you were not dropped for the program. Furthermore, we cannot provide you a refund as you had placed a stop payment through your bank, meaning no funds were taken out of your account even though we had already completed our services for you. Your account with us has already been cancelled and moving forward we can no longer assist you with your student loans.

I was deceived by Superior Servicing. I received a letter from them about my student loans impersonating the Federal Student Aid. Saying I was eligible for student loan forgiveness. The letter mentioned "FSA-ID". I was then signed up for a payment plan for $900 at $299 each and the $50 a month for the next twenty years. I told them I am unemployed and couldn't pay. On December 5th I received a charge of $299 placing my account on overdraft. This business is illegitimate and a scam. They are using predatory methods to trap people in debt into more debt.Business Response

Hello Genesis,
That is incorrect. We never claimed to be FSA or any government agency for that matter. The notice you received and service agreement you signed clearly states that we are not affiliated with the government, but rather a document preparation center that charges a fee for the services we provide. We cannot provide you with a refund as your payment came back as returned due to insufficient funds, meaning we never took it from your account. Your account with us has been cancelled out since December 6th, and moving forward we can no longer assist you with your student loans.

They lured me under false pretenses that they would consolidate my loans but it is a scam company.Business Response
Date: 12/18/2023
Hello ******,
"We did not lure you under false pretenses." You initially called us for assistance with your student loans and we did just that. We prepared and sent you federal documents in order to enroll into a government funded forgiveness program. That is the service we provide, and charge a fee do to so. You also signed a service agreement with us, so nothing was done on your behalf without your consent. We have already cancelled your account with us and did not charge you the document preparation fee, even though we did complete our services. Moving forward we can no longer assist you.

I was initially contacted by this company and told they were with the ********** of ********** and would like to consolidate my student loans. I paid ****** to them under the impression it was going to be put towards my student loans, which is what was told to me over the phone. After speaking with Aidvantage, I learned that this was in fact a 3rd party company who has nothing to do with my loans. When I reached out to Superior Servicing, they then told me they only prepare documents to submit to Aidvantage, and the money I paid to them was there fee. Aidvantage also explained to me that I could fill this forms out online FOR FREE. All the information that these forms required were basically my name, social security number, date of birth, and address. I do not need help answering those questions on my own. This company took advantage of me, and lied about who they were and what they do. They will not refund my money because I figured this out more than 3 days after I spoke with them.Business Response

Superior Servicing contacted me in July ***************** with loan consolidation. They charged me two payments of $399.50 which I paid on 8/4/2023 and 8/18/2023. They have charged me $49.00 on the following dates: 9/1/2023, 10/2/2023, and 11/1/2023.Mohela, my loan servicer, does not have record of these payments. Recently, I had to chat with Superior Servicing over the phone to discuss a form and they asked me for my username and password which I thought was really weird. That's when I Googled them and really could not find any results pointing toward them being legitimate or at least trustworthy.Business Response

Superior Servicing scammed me out of $900 claiming to consolidate my student loans. I was not aware that this could be done for free through the ***** of ********** They told me they needed payment upfront to get this going and that was going to be $299 for 3 months. They also promised that my payments would be lowered to $50 a month and at the end of 240 months all would be forgiven. When I discovered who took over my loan I contacted them to find out how much my payments would be and it was nowhere near $50! It was $141 per month. They have not contacted me to update me on any info either. When I asked the legit company about Superior Servicing they encouraged me to file a complaint as its free to consolidate a student loan debt and charging money upfront is considered fraud.Initial Complaint

This is a straight SCAM! This company charged me $299 TWICE to consolidate my student loans and supposedly get my loans lower (just $49 a month). It turns out the $49 dollars I paid twice was NEVER applied to my student loans AND I could've gotten my loans consolidated for FREE by ******, the company authorized to service my student loans at NO COST! I've called customer service several times, no one answers, and they won't return my calls. I am requesting that this company cancel my account, lose my information, and NOT charge my bank account again. You guys got me good, I have to give it to you. $696 dollars. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. UNBELIEVABLEInitial Complaint

Superior servicing the company I am writing a claim about told me that I would be enrolled in a program that would have me paying $50 a month for 120 payments and my student loans would be forgiven. I talked to them and they told me my student loans would be done through them and that I would not have to pay ****** anymore. This continued for months and I have made 5 payments of $50 to this superior servicing company under the impression thats all I would have to do for my student loans. They have all my information and my social security number. This needs to be fixed and actions need to be taken so my personal information is safe.Customer Answer

Hello *******,
We did in fact assist you with your student loans. We prepared your federal documents for you to send in in order to receive federal benefits, and based off of your servicer account your PSLF form was processed, your IDR was received by Mohela on 11/20/2023, and your loans were also consolidated. That is the service we agreed to provide per the service agreement you signed. Your file has already been cancelled out, all future payments have been stopped, your information has been removed from our database, and we have sent you a cancellation confirmation email.
