I went for two x-rays on 10/2.24, one for my knee and the second for lumbar spine.I provided my insurance and was told I had a copay of $138, which I paid.I received my explanation of benefits from my insurance company and one was fully covered and the other had a copay of $15. I contacted their billing department who informed me that I need to wait ***** days before asking for a refund. I have been to several Desert Radiology locations and this is the first that required a copay upfront. It is appalling that I now have to chase a refund of over $100.

DOS 01/07/2024 at **************************************** ER. CT and ultrasound was performed. Claim number processed through insurance ********** stating I owe $140.27. I then received a bill from Desert Radiology in March of 2024 for $1,471 that stated it was denied by insurance due to a "non covered service", which is not even a thing for an emergency room visit, and the claim had already processed as covered in my insurance. I called Desert Radiology immediately, and they stated they would reprocess the claim (even though it was already processed), and I should have an update within ***** days. I again received a bill in April for the same amount and called Desert Radiology again. I was then told to allow 30 more days for claim to "reprocess" (it's already processed) and they would put my account on hold. I then received another bill in June for the SAME amount again. I called once again, they asked for me to email over the *** from my insurance. I did so, and kept receiving bills for July, and forwarded the same email to them again. I received the final bill in the mail in August stating if payment was not made, it would be sent to collections. Since they seem to not check their email (that they requested), I MAILED my insurance *** back with the bill stating that payment will be made when they learn to bill properly. I received a letter from ************* collections agency for a balance of $1,544.55 from Desert Radiology in September, which is more than they even billed me before. Desert Radiology is committing fraud billing in order to collect money that is not owed after multiple attempts of politely contacting them to adjust the bill based on my insurance policy and they seem to not be able to understand.

Date of service was 1/4/22, 1/17/22, 1/27/22& 2/4/22. Payment of $9850.12 was to be charged to Triwest but instead Desert Radiology charged to Tricare. I received bill in Oct 2023 & contacted Desert Radiology of mistake. Few months later, I still received bill so contacted VA Triwest which a ***resentative spoke with Desert Radiology on 2/14/23 letting them know Triwest was to be billed. Again, VA ***resentative spoke to Desert Radiology multiple times: 8/17/23, 9/29/23, 11/20/23, 1/18/24, & 6/10/24. It has been more than a *************************** still have not made corrections. Medical debt was ***orted on my credit ***ort which caused my credit score to significantly dropped about 30 **************** continues to increase which is now over $11000. I was not aware that I had to file complaint within a year. Plus, Desert Radiology kept saying that issue was forwarded to their review board & in process yet nothing has been done. VA ***resentative tried to have Desert Radiology *** to forward our call to a supervisor but said they were not able to.

On March 4, 2024 I had an ultrasound that they charged $169.85 for. I had no copay. Insurance paid in full in March. April 16th I called to demand my money back. They promised it would be refunded within the week. It wasn't. May 1, 2024 I called again. A "supervisor" named ***** at ************ informed me it was escalated on the 16th and that it takes them ***** days to refunded overcharges even when insurance has already paid them too.The practices of this company and their incompetent employees should be investigated.

      Good morning,

Our policy is to refund any over payment within ***** days.  This information was responded to the patient when they called in.  We are still within that timeframe.  The patient is due to have a refund to his method of payment or or about

May 20, 2024, if not sooner.

      Thank you,

      Complaint: 21653641

I am rejecting this response because:

They were told there was no copay on the date of service on March 4th. They refused to provide the ordered scan without payment. Within two weeks insurance paid them in full. They made no attempt to refund the money they fraudulently charged. They are still refusing to return the money they double charged.

Obviously an ongoing scam to make use of stolen money from patients.

      Sincerely,

Got a Referal from doctor and waited weeks! Finally called this place to schedule ct since my lungs as a nodule was found a year ago so I need a check up they feel very hard and something is not right! They denied me cause Im not a smoker!!!!!!! This is outrageous!

      Business Response

Per the US ********** Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommendation and eligibility for ** screening for lung cancer is outlined as below:

The USPSTF recommends annual screening for lung cancer with low-dose computed tomography (LD**) in adults aged 50 to 80 years who have a 20 pack-year smoking history and currently smoke or have quit within the past 15 years. Screening should be discontinued once a person has not smoked for ************************************************************************************************* willingness to have curative lung surgery.

The patient contacted our practice on 4/22 requesting to schedule the ** Lung Cancer Screening exam. Patient was informed that she did not meet the eligibility requirements as outlined by the USPSTF so therefore the order from her provider needed to be changed to a standard ** lung exam (versus screening). She was not denied scheduling, but rather informed that the order needed to be changed as her insurance, not Desert Radiology would deny the exam since she did not meet the criteria.  Patient became belligerent with staff and hung up on our representative abruptly.

Back on March 10th of 2023 I had an MRI scheduled with Desert Radiology in which I paid in full at time of service. Unfortunately I was unable to have the full imaging done, and had requested a refund. I received an email on June 7th 2023 stating that $ ***** had been refunded to my account. I did not receive a credit towards my card that i used or a check. On September 20th I called the billing department to see what was going on and they said they would look into it and it has to be reviewed for ***** days. On November 7th I called again and was told once again they will have to review it for another ***** days. When I called back on January 22nd 2024 I was told the refund was processed through their Imagine Pay portal that I don't have a profile with, and it would once again have to be reviewed for another ***** days. I did contact the local office and spoke with a manager who advised they would send a email to the billing manager and wait for a call. I did not receive a call and decided to give it time. Called back on March 27th to the billing department and was told it was in process of being refunded and that it would be escalated again and to call back in 5-7 business days. I advised the representative that i would like a check sent in the mail. Called 4/17/24 and was told no payment has gone out and it wasn't labeled as an overpayment and will have to be escalated again and I have to wait another 2 and a half months for my refund which will put me over a year waiting on a refund.

On 3/27/23 I hadb2 mri's done. Desert radiology solutions never billed my insurance company. Now a year later they sent my account into collections at Plus four Inc., who then attacked my credit report prematurely and without first contacting me about this bill. Desert radiology failed to update their system with the provided insurance information that I gave them on the date of service. They failed to give plus four inc correct information causing the negative information to be placed on my credit report. Plus four inc hands are equally dirty in this matter because they failed to contact me about yhe bill, failed to provide a validation letter and most importantly that failed to follow the regulations that govern collections set forth by yhe FAIR DEBT COLLECTIONS ACT which ****** states " as of November 30th 2021 debt collectors can not report a debt to any credit reporting agencies without first contacting the consumer and going through the validation letter process". Both of Desert radiology solutions and Plus four inc should lose their business license and should not be allowed to operate anywhere in this country. Their untrained staff, poor work ethics, and crooked billing practices (that *** be illegal) is dangerous to the consumer. And furthermore increases overall medical expenses in this country.Close them down!!!

I contacted desert radiology solutions and for the 3rd time gave them the correct insurance information.  They finally billed umr and payment was made to them on 4/23/24. I will be mailing a copy of the explanation of benefits to the BBB so that you can utilize this information as you continue to investigate.  However there is still the matter of the bill being wrongfully turned over to collections, ************** Which needs to be corrected.

      Good Afternoon,

After reviewing this account, insurance was billed but denied for coordination of benefits.  Three patient statements were sent to the patient advising we needed updated insurance information. Patient did call in to our call center to advise he did receive a statement, and that the insurance was incorrect, but this was after the 30 days grace ****** on the last statement. Insurance did pay the claim in full and the account has been removed from collections as of 5/1/2024.  Patient will need to allow time for Plus 4 to alert the credit agencies of this update.

      Thank you,

      Complaint: 21576034

I am rejecting this response because: although I reached out to desert radiology it was not because I received a statement. I only became aware of the account because plus four inc attacked my credit report. Let me be very clear here. I have never recieved a statement from desert radiology. So their statement in that regards is a beaten lie. I called desert radiology after plus four told me that desert radiology was the original creditor/provider. Desert radiology needs to step up and take responsibility for their haphazard billing processes. They did however finally bill the correct insurance company and yes the claim has been paid. In regards to plus four inc they are still adding interest penalties to the account because the debt amount increased by an additional $3 on my credit report. Furthermore plus four has indicated to me that they have heard nothing from desert radiology in regards to the account being paid or for them to stop the collection process. Again this is something that desert radiology needs to address.  I also feel that if plus four inc wants to be paid interest on an account that I never even received a bill on that desert radiology should be responsible for that interest since it was their haphazard billing process that created this problem to begin with. I will not be satisfied until the derogatory information from plus four inc and desert radiology is fully removed from my credit report. I have further my complaint on these companies to the Nevada consumer agency department of business and finances and have suggested/requested that a thorough investigation be done scrutinizing all financial records shared between these two companies.

      Sincerely,

      *************************************

Plus 4 updated the account on 5/3/24 as paid in full after  the insurance payment was received on 5/1/24. The account was updated with the credit bureaus on Monday 5/6/24 to be deleted from your credit.

I am rejecting this response because: at this point according  to the disputes i filed with all 3 credit bureaus the collections is still showing on my reports both with ******* and experian.. I am waiting on trans unions response. Until I see actual proof that the collections was completely removed from my credit reports I can not in good conscious allow this complaint to be closed. I have followed through with further complaints to nevada consumer affairs department of financial and industry requesting a full and completed audit of both desert radiology and plus four. My next complaint will go directly to FRCA and I should be completed with that by next week.
