Hello, In the month of February I underwent cataract surgery on both eyes. It was performed by another doctor *** is not part of this complaint and does not offer prescription eyewear. I wanted prescription glasses for better vision so I went to Bronx ********* I underwent an examination for lenses while providing my own frames. I knew beforehand I would have to pay for tint which is the 30. I normally pay. After everything was complete, Santa an employee informed me that the total charge was 200. I have ******** and ******** which pays for everything except the tint which I have explained. She stated I needed shatter proof lenses which is unnecessary, regular lenses would have been fine at no charge and completely covered. I was told by the doctor that my vision is 20/20 and the left lens would be slightly stronger while the right would be plain. I came home and realized that I was scammed by being charged ****************************** only 30 for just tint. Other patrons have stated this also by leaving negative reviews about their practices by overpricing including reports and claims against them. As you being an advocate against false business practices I am asking that you may step in. Also, that you may contact Bronx ******** pertaining deceitful buisness operations and aid me in obtaining a refund for lenses unnecessarily paid. In addition, I ask that this common practice may be noted about them while performing a search on their business on your website. I am also taking this a step further and informing both insurance institutions are fully aware of them. I eagerly await your response concerning this matter. Enclosed is my receipt for this transaction. Sincerely, ****** ****.

I took my children ages 6 & 10 for an eye exam. This wouldve been my 2nd time patronizing the business as my older son &I sought services here about 2 years ago. After the eye exams were complete the kids chose their frames. The store associate took their frames and started to write a receipt. When she was done she looked up and said everything comes to $550. I said why so much if I have insurance? The associates response was the kids need anti shatter lenses. I asked if this was new as I dont ever remember being told this information before. The associate said yes it MANDATED by law for all children under the age of 18. I then advised I dont ever remember having to do this with my other son and she said its was because he was over 18. I explained to the associate I did not have the money to cover the cost because the back to school expenses were greater than the ********** had just come from the uniform store. The store associate led me to believe the anti shatter lenses were a mandate by law & the only way I could purchase the glasses. School was stating; my kids needed glasses, and based on false information given through the establishment I felt as though I had no other option. The store associate initially asked me to leave a 50% deposit. I reminded her finds were low as I has taken on other expenses as a single parent. She asked how of a deposit o can leave & we agreed on $100. I was speaking to someone else who encouraged me to do my own research, & I learned the anti shatter lenses are a recommendation not a requirement. The store associate intentionally upsold a product for the benefit of their establishment by providing false information. Misrepresenting an item/product is manipulating & strips the customer of the right to make a well informed decision based off of factual information. I have since contacted the store & have been able to obtain the glasses at no additional cost. Im seeking to gain $100 deposit due to misrepresention of a false law.
