    In August 2023, Otto Construction was hired to redo bathroom. Was recommended by family and claims "all work guaranteed" on website and ********. Although the owner complained, he did come back three times to try to make things right. We referenced websites showing he was not properly doing the plumbing. He did not follow the instructions on the shower installation. My husband has since taken everything down to bare bones and found the base of the shower was not leveled correctly, throwing everything off so that the shower doors did not close correctly. The laminate flooring was put down sloppily with jagged cuts and he did not caulk the toilet. In the end, he would not give us a receipt because we paid cash. The owner also admitted at the end of the job that "they don't really do bathrooms". The owner will never admit a mistake, he showed that while he was at our home. My final comment: Business Owner, do Not take on a job you are not qualified for, and Consumer, NEVER PAY CASH!

    Response taken by phone:  I was hired to install a shower unit that they bought.  I informed them that the walls were not level.  I could went back at least 3 times and made adjustments.  I did the best I could given the materials provided and unlevel walls.

    I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.


    We knew the walls were not level and needed to be squared and plumbed. The installation book's first instruction is " check the threshold for level and the walls for plumb". The contractor either did not know how to do this or decided to skip it. We have since taken the job down to studs and are still without a shower, as we are taking the time to research how to do the job correctly. Regardless of how many times the contractor came back, the outcome would have been the same, because nothing was actually fixed. We believe a refund of half the cost, $ 1550.00 would acceptable to pay for our time, labor and extra parts required to fix/finish the work.
