Pattern of Complaints
BBB files indicate a pattern of complaints concerning billing practices and account servicing with Commerce Payment Systems. Consumers tell BBB that they are quoted a specific interest rate for receiving merchant services. However, after receiving a bill from the company, many consumers report seeing a different, much higher interest rate than what they were quoted. Several customers also claim they have been charged for unauthorized fees. Consumers also complain of issues with processing credit card transactions, specifically that the money from their customers is not going into their account. When these consumers call the company to find out why, they say the company representatives request numerous documents to verify their account and make it difficult for the consumers to resolve the issue. Several consumers also allege that even after cancelling their account they continue to be charged by the company.
On March 13, 2015, BBB requested Commerce Payment Systems voluntary cooperation in eliminating the identified pattern of customer complaints. As of April 24, 2015, the company has responded to Metro NY BBB and said they that they will continue to work on their standards of quality control to improve customer experience and reduce the volume of complaints coming into BBB.
