Date: September 19, 2023 Flight: Turkish Airlines TK-1, ******** to ********, ***.Description:I started my journey from ******** to ********, with a stopover in ********. Being awake for the past 24 hours, I was looking forward to some sleep during the flight. I'm 6 feet tall, and my economy seat felt very cramped. Anticipating this discomfort, I tried upgrading to business class while still in ********. However, I was told to make this request once I got to ********. When I asked in ********, I was informed there were no business class seats left. After the plane took off, I noticed an unoccupied seat in business class. Seeing a chance for a more comfortable ride, I moved there. But soon after, flight attendants asked me to return to my original seat. I tried explaining why I moved and even offered to pay extra for the seat. But they didnt agree. The most confusing part was when I was told that seat upgrades had to happen before boarding. This was not what I was told in ********. Due to all this, I spent the entire 10-hour flight uncomfortable and sleep-deprived.Resolution:This experience left a negative impression of Turkish Airlines. I would like an official apology for the confusion and discomfort. I believe a full refund is fair given the circumstances. Additionally, a flight voucher for a future journey with Turkish Airlines would help in regaining my trust in the airline's services.Customer Answer

I have tried to settle with Smartfares, but they refuse to cooperate. Turkish is also responsible for allowing such company to sell their tickets. On 01/13/2023 I booked 6 tickets through Smartfares flying Turkish Airlines. Reservation Number: ****** On 06/20/2023 we went to the airport for our scheduled flight. There was no one at the desk for Turkish airlines, the office was closed and someone from the airport told us no flight were leaving that night anymore. I contacted Turkish Airlines and they advised us that the flight was canceled back on March 1st and they let the company know via email. I have attached a print out of the cancelation sent to Smartfares. Smartfares made no attempt to let us know of the flight cancelation. We went to the airport blindsided after a long travel day to leave from that airport. The airport closed and we were left outside with with 2 children and no place to go. We had rented long in advance a car in ***** for the following day as our flight was to land at 6am. My brother and his family with 3 kids also flew that day to *** from Europe and we were supposed to pick them up in the car we rented from a different airport. None of which happened. I contacted Smartfares at least 6 times and every time they told me something else and everytime they wanted to charge me to rebook a flight for their mistake. After 5 hours being on calls and hold, someone from Turkish helped us and booked a flight. I received an email from Smartfares after the flight was scheduled to leave. See below, trying to charge me for their mistake. I took down all the names of everyone I spoke to at Smartfares and also Turkish. This trip ended up costing us a lot more. It has beeen a horrifying experience. Smartfares sent the email to my email addressing to someone else, ***************? At this point I am writing this email to Smartfares and Turkish **** to make things right and reimburse us.Customer Answer

I had a flight with Delta Airlines on December 19, 2022 and checked in numerous pieces of luggage. This flight was going from *** to *** (Delta), *** to *** (Air France), *** to FIH (Air France). Another individual and I missed that flight due to some mishap at security with an elderly family member. We decided to take Turkish Airlines, *** to ********* to FIH, to get to the final destination as soon as possible (********, ********************************) on December 19, 2022. I spoke with Delta Airlines about my luggage and they stated that they would be able to coordinate with Turkish Airlines to get those items to me as long as I had proof of my travels and obtained a tracking number from Turkish Airlines (********** and **********). I obtained all the necessary information from the locations required; however, none of the luggage were delivered to the final destination. I started to receive numerous calls that my luggage was in ****** and *****. I was on the trip with no luggage and had to purchase multiple items due to the lost luggage. I followed up with each airlines involved. Delta Airlines informed me that since I got to ********, *** by way of Turkish Airlines, they were responsible for my lost luggage. However, Turkish is informing me that since they did not have possession of my luggage, they are not responsible. I have received some of my items but there have been several pieces that still were not sent. I still have not received compensation for my lost luggage or any items that I purchased. I have sent proof of all of my missing items and purchased items to Delta Airlines and Turkish Airlines. No one is willing to take responsibility and next steps will be taken if this cannot be resolved via this method.Customer Answer

On Friday September 1st 2023, My family and I flew with Turkish Airlines from ******* to ****** with a layover in ******** ******. The concerned flight number is ***** and upon arrival at my destination in ******, one of our luggage was missing. I immediately reported the issue upon on arrival at ************** and was provided with the reference claim number: ********** I was told that the airline will get to the bottom of it and my luggage is likely to arrive on the next flight. However, I kept checking with the local airport in ****** and also called Turkish Airlines directly and they had no clue has to where my suitcase was. We checked in all 3 luggages and was provided a tag and the airlines is completely clueless has to where the luggage and in what country. I am now back in ********** and during my last call with Turkish airlines, I was advised to wait at least 5 days and check again. We are now September 12th and no information is provided on my claim and no attempt from the airline to search and /or compensate us for the loss of our valuables. My family and I have been good customers of this airline for over 7 years and I a extremely disappointed but the lack of customer service and appreciation for good standing customers.Initial Complaint

I booked flights to ******** ****** on 6/7/2023 under the below Confirmation/Itinerary Codes. This was purchased off EXPEDIA and not the airline directly. Original flights I had booked was for 3 roundtrip, departing on August 18, 2023 at 12:30am ******. JFK to *******, ****** This sequence was delayed and I had a medical emergency. On 8/18/2023 Turkish Airlines then decided to cancel my entire reservations under the below confirmation numbers. This resulted in me purchasing brand new tickets for the same flights. I paid double for the same tickets. I paid a total of $3,421.50 to rebook the cancelled reservation from Turkish Airlines.Turkish Airlines Confirmation Codes: ****** (8/18-9/2) and ****** (8/18-9/8) ****** - was rebooked for a new flight on 8/18/23 -7:30pm with return flight on 9/2/2023 (IST to JFK) at 7:35am. Total of $2,457 was paid to rebook as a result ****** - was rebooked for new flight on 8/18/23 - 7:30pm and returning 9/8/2023 - 2:30pm - rebooked for a total of $964.50 See screenshots indicating my flight cancellation by Turkish airlines. Id like a refund for the double charge. This was not my error. Only reason I paid was because I needed to make this trip and couldn't wait. This is unjust.I collectively paid a total of $7416.50 for 3 rountrip itineraries. This is absurd. I'd like a refund for the rebook charges of $3421.50.Customer Answer

My partner (*************************) and I were illegally "bumped" from 2 Turkish Airlines flights, the first being **********) to *************) TK2345 as a connection to *******, with the second leg being *************) to ************) TK203. The airline provided no notice or justification of the bumping, as shown in the attached photos. In fact, when we log in with our booking number and passenger information, it still at this moment says "Online check-in begins 24 hours before your flight... Please check the departure ************* and try again later" with no notice of the cancelation / bumping. It is required by the *** for airlines to give written justification for bumping and a description of passenger rights, which was not provided in any form here. We only found out that we were bumped from the flights because we checked our booking to try and check-in + select seats, and found our only two options were to "Change flight" or "Cancel flight" (also shown in the screenshots I have attached), again, with no statement that we had been moved off our original flights involuntarily. To this time, Turkish Airlines has provided no refund for our $3,111.50 tickets or any viable resolution, and we are still awaiting response with agents unwilling to help us get on our original or a replacement flight. Our original flight is in less than 48 hours, and we have no idea how we are getting back to *******. Thus, we are seeking 1. A replacement flight / set of flights from ***** -> ******* on Sunday, Sept 10, 2. A full refund of the $3,111.50 ticket costs, and 3. $5,000 per passenger ($10,000 total) in damages caused by wasting multiple days of our vacation trying to fix this issue, and undue stress and anxiety caused by Turkish Airlines' negligence in bumping us from the flights and providing no notice of this action.Furthermore, this comes after TA has already refused to refund us for >2 hours of delays on our departure flights and not honoring our seat selection.Customer Answer

I am writing to file an official complaint against Turkish Airlines regarding my upcoming flight reservation under number ******. Despite paying extra for specific seats for my family, Turkish Airlines removed them without notice or explanation. I called customer service five times but received no assistance. This has caused extreme inconvenience and distress. I request your immediate intervention to rectify this situation and ensure Turkish Airlines honors the seats I paid extra for.Initial Complaint

This is in reference to a dispute of $6167.64 for airline tickets booked on Turkish airlines for travel and we were unable to use the tickets for boarding the flight. Our confirmation was ****** and 24 hour prior to the flight we tried to check in multiple times and we get kept getting errors. After spending hours on the airport & on the phone with the team at Turkish we were told there is nothing they can do to assist and the tickets are not valid for travel however the tickets were paid in full months before the reservation. On Mar 8th 2023 I made a booking on Turkish Airlines website for $6167.64 and cancelled it within few hours and that booking reference number was ******. I had made a mistake on that booking and therefore cancelled it right away and then REBOOKED under ****** which was to be valid for travel. I did not dispute that charge or do anything of that matter to get a refund on that charge and that booking was to be valid for travel. However, we were unable to use our ticket to fly. No one at Turkish knows that they are doing and it is by far the WORST airline I have ever dealt with. All phone reps told me to email feedback department and I did that multiple times with no clear answers. Then they asked me to give proof of payment from my bank which I have attached here too that Turkish has my money from the booking that was valid for travel. You would think after putting us through this nightmare Turkish would have the courtesy to refund us and I still havent received a refund for the ticket I had booked under reference ****** for $6167.64. It has been months now for me to try and get my money rightfully back and my credit card has told me to work with the merchant to get a refund since I was unable to board because of Turkish Airlines issues and with no answers as to how to fix it or why my tickets were voided? Attaching a copy of my credit card statement showing ONE charge refunded for Cancelled booking ****** and one charge stands for ******.Customer Answer

On August 4th, 2023, my experience with Turkish Airlines was dreadful. My scheduled flight, TK0111 from ******** to ******** at 12:40 am TRT, turned into a nightmare due to overbooking. Despite checking in three hours before the flight and going through security, I was informed at the gate that there were no available seats on the plane, and I had to wait for the next flight, a grueling 7-hour delay. This caused me to miss a crucial job interview, causing significant professional repercussions.Turkish Airlines offered compensation of 600 euros (equivalent to $658), but my ordeal didn't end there. Given the late hour (1 am), I requested a hotel stay at the airport, but Turkish Airlines representative directed me to the hotel desk for which I had to exit the airport. At the hotel desk, since their hotels were too far and insufficient time remained, I was denied in a hotel for the night.According to the ****** regulations, I am eligible to receive compensation equal to 400% of a one-way fare if denied boarding due to overselling tickets. Considering the total round-trip cost of $1,467.05, a one-way fare would be $733.5, and 400% of that amount totals $2,934. Given the 600 euros already received, I believe Turkish Airlines owes me an additional $2,276 to make things right.Furthermore, as per the regulations outlined by the Turkish ********** of *************** in the event of denied boarding for an overnight flight, it is mandatory for the airline to furnish passengers with accommodations at a hotel. To put it plainly, Turkish Airlines blatantly disregarded regulations and, as a result, inflicted a considerable amount of distress upon me. My attempts to engage with the airline on this issue have been met with refusal to conduct any further investigation, and they seem content with the compensation I've received, which I strongly believe falls short of addressing the magnitude of the situation. My original complaint to the airline is attached for your reference.Customer Answer

I want to file a BBB complaint against Turkish Airlines. My familys flights were jointly operated by Turkish Airlines and ************ Airlines (Reservation number is ****** via priceline). Our return flights were IST->GOT->*** at 7:50 am on Aug 30, 2023. We arrived at airport 5:30 am and they did not mentioned anything until onboarding. They claimed that my wife (US permanent resident) is not eligible to transit at *********** of ******. But we checked very carefully ****************************************************************** From the ************ Requirement: People who belong to the following categories do not need a transit **** for ******: Citizens from a third country holding a residence permit issued by *************, ***** guaranteeing the right to return from these countries But they still refused my wife to get onboard. And they also said that our booking is voided due to no show, although we were right there and in great frustration. We had to book separated tickets (Booking ref ****** under my sons name *****) , which is ******** USD, in order to get back to ********. The airlines essentially forced us to cancel our tickets and buy extra tickets with an outrageous extra expense of ******** USD from them (joint operated by Turkish Airlines and ************ Airlines). That is huge ripped off and totally unfair !!! I ask for refund of this unfair charge and apology!Customer Answer
