Charged $3,349 to change $5k Economy Ticket On 12/30/22, We took Qatar Airways from ****** Airport in ************* to ***** Airport in ************ through transit in ********** Airport for Umrah. My wife was visibly pregnant. However, nobody from either the **** Airport or ************ asked my wife if she was pregnant. Then we got to Jedda Airport and the Immigration Officer asked her if she was pregnant. She answered yes and she asked about the number of weeks, and she answered. The officer congratulated her and cleared us. On our return date of 1/8/23, when we arrived at Jedda Airport, my wife joined the queue to check in while I went to wrap our bags. When I returned there were other passengers in line behind my wife. The Qatar Airways representative prevented me from joining my wife in the queue even though our ticket is the same and we were together. When it was her turn, the ticket agent required her to wait for my turn. Eventually, it got to my turn, and the check-in agent asked if she was pregnant. My wife answered yes. Then, she directed us to go speak with her manager, ***** *************************, General Manager for ticketing agents. When we reached *** ****** desk, he demanded that my wife show her the medical proof that she is pregnant and that she is fit to travel. We could not make sense of her interrogations. He started asking many personal questions about my wifes pregnancy such as how many weeks pregnant she is, is she taking any medications, how many pregnancies she has had, etc. My wife eventually became upset and refused to answer *** ****** questions. Then, ************** said he will not check us into the flight without my wife Doctors notice that she states that 1. She is pregnant and 2. She is fit to travel. When I inquired if ************** is medical, he replied no but that Qatar Airways policy requires that level of documentation for pregnant women to board its flight. I explained to ************** that my wifes ***** is in ******* and it was Sunday Evening, so it was not possible to reach her plus we only have 2 hours before departure, so it was impossible to get her Doctor to write her a notice. Eventually, I called the U.S. Embassy in Jedda and have them speak to **************. ************** informed the embassy staff that any medical doctors notice would be accepted even if it was from ************ and promised he would change my flight for me for free. So, I went to a Clinic at the ***** airport and the attending physician there gave me a Doctors notice, by the time we return to the check-in counter, the gate was closed. We called the number that ************** provided to us, ************** and the agent said there was no next-day flight even though I could see it on the website. However, he was quoting me, the next-day ticket change fee at $12.5k. I informed him that I couldnt afford $12.5k then he said the next available ticket was on Tuesday, 1/10/2023 in the same economy class with a ticket change fee of $3,349.04. I made every effort to explain to the agent, it was not reasonable for the change fee to be that expensive given that the Return ticket was $5k , but all my explanations were rejected. I made every effort to speak with ************** and he refused to talk to me. I paid the $3,349 for the ticket to be changed to 1/10/23.On 1/10/23, we came to the airport at 2 pm although our flight was at 10 pm. I showed the doctors notice to ***********************, who confirmed that the notice is sufficient. I went to **************, and he spent an hour trying to justify everything he did. After that, he said, he needed to verify that the Doctors note is sufficient. He called a nurse line to verify the doctors note before we were allowed to check in to the flight. ************** guaranteed us that he entered everything into the system and that our travel should be seamless. Just as before, we were interrogated again at ************ by Qatar Airways agent ****** and ******* about my wifes pregnancy at ****.Business Response

Qatar Airways did not respond to me . I looked up Qatar Airways customer support on their website. Sent them a compliant and got a response that can best be described as a robot . I have no ideas what she is talking about . If you refer to her last email, she had indicated that she will reach out to me and she never did.
To add insult to injury , Qatar Airlines broke my bags and baby car seat ,and up to now they are yet to compensate me.

We recently went on a trip to ************ for religious purposes and on our way 1 baggage was lost on qatar airways flight from ***************** airport to ****** on 27th December. Upon reaching our final destination, ******, we filed the claim. The file reference number is **********. They said baggage is in **** and once they find it, they will deliver it to our hotel which never happened. We suffered without all the stuff of my 3 kids for the entire trip. On our return on 8th January from ******, we inquired again and they had no information about our baggage claim. When we reached ****, I inquired about the baggage claim there, and they said it was never loaded from Washington when we took our first flight on 27th. Upon reaching Washington, when I inquired about it, they said it was loaded and may have gotten lost somewhere. Our trip is already over and we still havent got any update which is very frustrating. I called hundreds of times and they escalated the complaint but no one ever followed up. They are just giving me run around and not even reimbursing me. That bag has everything for 3 kids and I dont have anything for them now. I would be very thankful if you could please help me try to locate the baggage and let me know as it has all the stuff for my 3 children and it's really hard to survive without their stuff to live daily life. I am contacting BBB for as a last resort. I booked flights for me and my family to ************* from **********. ** *** and ***** on 15th April 2020. which was cancelled. i was under the impression that refund would happen as soon the flight got cancelled which wasn't the case and I was not able to get the refund or any voucher for those flights. I have made multiple attempts to call them tried the refund link which didn't work at that time and the email they provide on the website also didn't work. From ********** it was impossible to reach them and I came to the States and tried again with all the information I had. The email that is given in the website is ******************************************** I am unable to get any assistance over the phone, they would ask me to send an email. If possible I would like them to give me the refund for ticket as ticket voucher since I still need to make travel arrangements for me and my family. I am in a financial bind and struggling to make ends meet. I am only asking the tickets i am entitled to, I humbly request BBB to pursue this on my behalf. On January 3rd, 2022, on flight QR705 (sold as AA ****), myself and my brother, *******************, checked in three bags (with my clothes, shoes, and valuable luxury goods and jewelry for my family worth $50K USD) and three gallons of holy water. This was a direct return flight to my home airport, ***. I waited over three hours for the baggage to arrive from the flight, only to learn from the airline that my bag was lost. I was given two customer service numbers to call to check the status of my luggage ************* and ************). Every day, I call this number and wait for hours for an agent. No one picks up. On the website, there is not a single customer service representative available. It is now January 5th and my possessions are still missing with no response from the airline. Pursuant to the US ********** of ************************ Customer Protection laws, my brother and I are each entitled to receive ******** In damages from the airline. We were denied check-in by Qatar Airways at ********************, for a baseless and invalid reason. We had arrived at the airport 4 hours prior to departure, and presented all valid *** passports and valid ****s. Two of the passengers (*********************** and *************************) had new U.S. passports. As per our ************ if the **** number is issued on an old passport, entry will still be allowed on the new passport, as long as we are carrying both new and old passports. This is clearly stated in the notes section of our ****, and I have added a copy as an attachment. We presented both our new passport and old passport to the ticketing agent, but they were having some technical issues and insisted that we get a new **** (which is so impractical and unnecessary), and denied us check-in on the existing ****. This is completely baseless, because our **** is valid, and we showed them the notes section, which clearly state that this is acceptable, since we were carrying both the new and old passport. We presented this to the agent, but one of them said they are having technical issues. They stalled us at the airport, and kept us waiting all the way until the ticketing counter closed. They were rude, did not apologize, nor did they help with rebooking. We are suspecting they did this because the flight may have been overbooked. On top of that, their customer service refused to issue us a complete refund and stated we have to pay a penalty, in spite of this being an error on behalf of Qatar airways ticketing counter. They violated an entry which our **** allows, caused inconvenience to us, and their customer service refuse to issue us a complete refund. I paid over $5,000.00 for two economy flight tickets to ******** purchased more than three months in advance. The first flight returning to *** from ******** on January 2, 2023 was changed and moved two hours ahead and the airline did not call or email me or the other passenger to notify of the change. Because of this, I showed up to the airport three hours in advance of the original flight time and was told I could not board because the flight was already leaving. The airport also showed the original flight time on the screens displaying flights of that day (photo included). The airline rescheduled my tickets for later that evening - which resulted in an overnight layover in **** which meant that the two people who purchased the tickets miss a full day of work due to the airline error. The customer service hotline was rude and dismissive. For the amount of money paid this business has acted disrespectfully to paying customers and has cost me time and money and made me look unprofessional in my workplace. This airline should not be doing business in the USA if they cannot treat their customers professionally or provide the services they have sold. It is unacceptable to change a flight without notifying the customer- this should be an illegal practice.Business Response

Hello,I am reaching out regarding complain of Qatar Airways **************** representative. Contact ***************** is the one who mislead me multiple times and my 24 hours Cancelation window also ended because of unprofessional ************** staff. after multiple calls they issued voucher and I already utilized voucher for my booking now i want refund of my remaining amount from the voucher without 10% additional Qatar Airways offer.
Also if a vouchers are non refundable as per the Qatar Airways policy then it's not documented in policy that what will be next step if Qatar Airways contact center mislead and misguide customer in this case who will be responsible ? I have recordings of all calls I can provide it for investigation and customer experiencing improving purpose. I followed every instructions which provided by Qatar Airways staff previously its not resolved.

Please note this since Qatar airlines had canceled my flight over twice during pandemic time. When I called them they promised me there will be travel credit voucher will be issued for me. Very unfortunately I never received such travel credit voucher for the money that I spent. Hello, I bought an airline ticket for about **** dollars for travel from ******* to *** (a roundtrip flight) from December ****. My biggest issues are the inflight experience and post flight experience with baggage. For example, when I arrived at my transfer from **** going to ***, I was told I had to hand in my carry on luggage because there was no space. I even told them that my checked in bag would only be one piece and that my personal item will sit below the seat so not take any space. However, they did not agree and made me check in my bag. I am frustrated that we pay large amounts of money for flights yet we are being nickel and dimed and told to not take our carry on bags. Furthermore, when we arrived to final destination, I waited nearly 1 hour for my checked luggage. However, one of the attendants called my name and I replied and she told me " your bags will not be arriving as they did not leave **** because there was not space so they will not come to you for another 2 business days" I was frustrated because this is checked luggage and I do not understand how there is not enough space - what do you mean - this a checked luggage on a plane. I had to fill out so many forms describing my bags and I am a little nervous with my identify because they took pictures of my tickets and passport on their phones - that is unprofessional and the Qatar attendants had no answer for anyone regarding our bags. I had clothes for a wedding that was supposed to happen the day of arrival and furthermore other events I had to miss because my bags were not there. They stated when bags would arrive it would be delivered locally, but after my arrival I was driving 2 hours to my hometown - therefore, I had to pay for uber to and from airport total 6 hours just to obtain my bags. On return flight, on initial flight they said there is not space for carry on bags and that it would have to be checked in and picked up final destination.
