I'm a small business owner who was interested in what seemed like a great checking account program with **********************. I filled out the online application and was immediately declined. I was told because this is a biz account, they are unable to disclose the reason. My business (and I) are in good financial standing, and nothing about my business violates the terms they laid out for account eligibility. I called to follow up and was again told they could not tell me more, but I was welcome to read their ************** Agreement to try to find clues. This document is a 55 page small-print PDF and reading it didn't seem like a good use of my time. But I did do a cursory search for "eligibility" "ineligible" and any related term that might point to any guidelines my business didn't meet. I found nothing. And the fact that they were "unable" to provide more information feels deliberately opaque, making me wonder why this information is so privileged. I have shared my experience with my large network of business-owning colleagues and strongly recommended they look elsewhere.

Grasshopper claims to be client-facing and is instead a wannabe Silicon Valley facade of a business with tons of code rot left to CSR to navigate and deal with on a daily basis. All I've ever heard about them after all these problems I've dealt with have been so negative that I wish I looked at more reddits or BBB to begin with. Do no make the same mistake some of us have made and use another bank or leave money under your bed-- at least you'll have access to it.-I opened my account -No email to confirm onboarding -funds deposited and account put under review -still haven't received my money back -FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD

I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with ****************'s recent business practices towards small business owners. As a small business owner myself, I have experienced firsthand the unexpected closure of my checking account without any explanation or notice. This experience has highlighted the bank's deceptive and unfair treatment of its clients, particularly those who rely on these accounts to manage their finances. I applied for a checking account through ****************'s online application portal on February 6, 2024. I received a welcome/account acceptance email on February 9, 2024, and was informed that a new checking account had been enabled, allowing me to transfer funds from my old checking account to the new **************** account. However, on February 12, 2024, I received an email stating that after a thorough review of my account, they had decided to close my account effective immediately. Despite calling customer service, I did not receive a reason for closing my active account nor was I informed when I would be receiving my money I deposited via ACH transfer. Moreover, I believe ****************'s business practices are unfair to small business owners. They prematurely accept applications from entrepreneurs and then unexpectedly close the account without explanation or notice as a way to generate income. This is unacceptable for small businesses that rely on these accounts to manage their finances. It seems that a bank partnering with the *** would have better client on-boarding procedures in place that dont unduly burden potential small business clients. I urge potential customers to be aware of ****************'s practices and exercise caution before opening an account with them. The bank's lack of transparency and communication can cause significant financial strain on small businesses, which often operate on tight margins.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS.Grasshopper allowed me to open a business checking account for a federal firearms licensee without any indication in the opening documents that such businesses were not permitted. In fact, the drop-down menu for business type in the online application had firearms dealer as an option! Well, I opened the account and deposited, thinking all was well - only to have Grasshopper close my account without notice on November 3, 2023, within a month of opening. Luckily I hadn't conducted any transactions other than the initial deposit, because it has been over two months and Grasshopper has not yet returned my money to me. I contacted Grasshopper's support on November 22 to see if my money would be returned, and I received a response that I had to execute some sort of release form which they provided. I was a bit annoyed, as this is clearly my money, but I have no problem with leaving a paper trail. So, I filled it out and returned it to Grasshopper within a day. It is now December 19, 2023, and Grasshopper has failed to return my funds. It is my belief that Grasshopper fraudulently induced me to open an account and deposit money that they do not intend to return.

Takes 5 days to touch your money after deposit. Can be accepted if advertised. If I am relying on funds to run a business and my money isnt available to me, what good is the bank? Requires selfie, drivers license and a pic of the check you already deposited to them to transfer money or close account. I refused, they closed my account under Fraud and still want documents for me to get my money. Didnt need documents to prove who I was to take my money. Use another bank.
