      Absolutely terrible company!I paid into the temporary disability fund every check for well over a month. it took over three weeks to get them to issue a check for the three weeks they were behind. It's now been over three weeks since I was told that the check had been cut and mailed to me. I've called them everyday about this to no avail. This has been the way that they have handled my claim the entire time. I've had to call them daily to have my checks sent. I was told today that it was the post offices fault even though I've checked the mail every day and have received multiple forms and disclosures from them. The customer service rep today told me that this wasn't an uncommon situation. When I spoke to the supervisor, I asked that if this was happening routinely, why would they not send these check via certified or registered mail? I was told that all they can do is cut another check and mail which would be another ten business days to reach me. Only receiving forty percent of my salary has been difficult enough, I've had to borrow money from family and friends to keep my home and bills paid. My savings have been depleted and I'm unable to ask anyone for more money to get me through this. My utilities are now a month past due and the new utility bill is due in one day. If they shut them off, my pipes will burst since we are having very cold weather. I'm also about to miss other pbill payments including credit cards which I've never missed before. I'm receiving a total lack of compassion or empathy from the company regarding the situation that they have created.My question is, How do the people in charge sleep at night since I'm not getting any sleep due to this stress? If I could, I would leave negative stars.

We understand their frustration and hope they can understand it is our goal to administer the policy according to its terms. The policy requires that we receive proof that the customer continues to be Disabled according to the policy terms. In this case, there was a delay with receiving the medical documentation to extend benefits. Upon receiving the information, the payment issued to the customer was not received and had to be reissued. We apologize for this situation, and we strive to pay claims with urgency.       I really hadn't had any ussues up until the past month but especially this past week.
      My claim got cut off with no notice. I found out by the Hr manager from the company I took leave from. Apparently although my condition has worsten I no longer fit the definition. If anything my recent MRI shows proof that I should be on it.
      Ok to move forward I started back in November leaving messages for my claim manager *****, I've yet to get a reply. ***** from Advantage left multiple messages as well. She didn't receive a call back.
      So getting back to this past week, I left messages on Wednesday for ***** about the current suitation, again no call back, messages left again the next day, no call back.Keep in mind I haven't received any mail stating my claim has been closed. So I'm ready for aqnswers. Which I'm darn ready for. I feel so lost and feel so let down and then in turn I'm letting down my children as with my claim cut off without notice leaves me without rent, grocery or fuel.
      I'm truly hoping these reviews are reviewed and followed up on. I also hope the mistake of closing my claim is rectified.
      Not a company I'd recommend.

      I finally received the paperwork today. I 100% fiwwt the definition of disabled however because I was a passenger in a car driven to an Eastern province, and because it was stated by my massage therapist who they kept referring to as a Dr I might add; in my letter, which we know isn't correct. Anyway she said lifting my toddler increased my pain tremendously and aggravated my issues. So basically if you are with NYL and on **** don't leave your home.

      They messed up my payments for over 2 months. Every time you call them its 1-2 hours on hold. They use undertrained nurses to make determinations on medical necessity. The staff themselves admit how horrible their service is when I call because they cannot explain why so many things go wrong. My case manager was never in the office. The one time she called it was right before she went on vacation, and said she will call me when she gets back to follow and see if I was paid. Honestly, this is hands down, the worst company I have ever dealt with in my life.

      Currently on *** from this company through my former employers policy, who let me go a year ago. Says in a letter they send me that if I can't do my job then should continue to receive *** benefits. Was called this morning and told my *** benefits will end in May after two years en though I have doctor's note saying I can't do the job because of bone spurs in back. Can't drive a forklift no more or lift the required 50 pounds daily. How can they contridict Their own policy rules. Sounds like a bunch of crooks to me!!

      I have been out of work since mid November and my original leave of absence was not extended despite my doctor sending over multiple documents. To make matters worse, I was not notified until 15 days AFTER the claim was denied. After I had repeatedly called multiple times to verify if there was anything I needed to do. The only true reason I found out I was denied was because I didnt receive payment. Even then, my claim manager is never in office and I had to leave multiple voicemails for her before I finally got a call back. She told me I could appeal my claim and I submitted my appeal and havent heard anything since then. Radio silence. It seems my claim manager is never in office because that is what her voicemail always states. Yet another pay period has went by without payment. They dont seem to care at all that I have bills to pay. This stress has not helped my condition that Im currently on Short-Term Disability for at all and in fact has only created more stress on my body. I wake up everyday knowing Im going to spend 2-3 hours on hold or leaving voicemails for my claim manager with no response. I just need to determine if my short-term disability extension is approved and when I can expect to start receiving payments again because this is causing extreme hardships on my family on top of me already being sick. Im just so beyond stressed and I dont know how much longer I can do this.

      New York Life does everything within their power NOT to pay your claim, that is how they make their money. Getting hold of a representative takes hours on hold and the questions are usually quite simple, like "has my doctor sent in the paperwork for my claim" or "when will my claim be considered" . It's a nightmare and it's supposed to be, I am currently on a 47 minute hold and I fully expect to be transferred which will be another 45 minutes. One woman was so incredibly rude we filed a complaint and asked that she be fired. Hire some descent help NYL..

      I have been receiving LTD benefits through ***** for over 15 years without any problems. I am, however, very frustrated and unhappy with New York Life Ins since it took over ***** and my claim. (1). I always received my monthly payment from ***** in time for it to clear the bank by the first of each month. It is now the 30th and a Friday, but my payment from New York Life has not been deposited. Because the 1st falls on Sunday, I will not receive payment until the 2nd or later, therefore I will incur late charges on some of my bills. New York Life Insurance will likely blame this on the bank, but ***** always made payment in time to clear the bank before the last day of the month. (2). I was always able to call ***** and get a status & payment update through its automated system. That is no longer available through New York Life. Each time I call, there is a 50+ wait and I have to request a call back. (3). I have logged onto New York Life Ins’s website and while my profile information is available but my claim information is not. Therefore I cannot verify payment or status. I am particularly interested in confirming that the company has received my medical update, which the Doctor’s office has mailed & faxed. With all this red tape I am concerned that someone has dropped the ball and my benefits will suddenly stop. I never had so many problems with my LTD until New York Life In’s took over.

      Why cant I give this place a zero? New York life is the worst. Every time my doctors office fax them over my documents they say they havent received it. Or they state they been sending over request to my doctors office and havent heard back from them. Meanwhile I get in contact with my doctors office to see if they received anything from them and as always its nothing even tho the fax machine seems to get everyone elses faxes. Its been 7 weeks now and my account is still under review. Even when they get the information they need they come up with something else new that is needed to approve my claim. I literally have to do all the footwork getting them the information they need and Im the one out on injury. How is this even legal. The stress this company has caused in my life is unreal. And from the other reviews I see its not only just me that shares the same experience and that is concerning.

He was notified of this decision by letter and in a phone call on January 6, 2023. During the phone call, all of *********************** questions were addressed and the ongoing claim process was reviewed.

      I am exhausted beyond words trying to deal with this company. They listed my employer wrong which delayed my case. Once finally approved they say they issued a payment but it's been 3 weeks and still nothing. I asked for direct deposit/electronic transfer and told it takes 6 weeks depending on the response from my financial institution. I called my my bank to request an update but they said they have yet to receive any request by this company. I've placed **************************************************************************************************************************************** to sit down and shut up and I will receive the check when they decide to send it. I did receive one check on a friday and by the time I tried to deposit it on monday, the check had since been voided. A bogus check. My claims manager documented in my account that she called me but she did not. I asked if this kind of mistruth aligns with the company mission statement. Never received a response. I asked to escalate this to file a complaint and told there is no complaint department, no one to speak with. I asked for next steps/options and was told to call the *** but don't expect a return call because it won't happen. I have no words to express my disappointment and dissatisfaction. And yes, I'm calling the ***.

On December 23, 2022 a claim team supervisor spoke to **************** and reviewed all of her concerns, including the questions she had regarding her payments. **************** had no additional questions at the end of the call.

      Ive been off for 4 weeks now after a medical procedure. I started this process a week before my planned surgery and it was approved electronically but I have yet to speak with anyone who can help me. I call every day and have left multiple emails and voicemails. The associates are the only ones who speak to me and I am getting no where. They keep promising me my payments have been sent or my case is being looked into the problem. Everytime I do get lucky enough to speak with an associate they promise me it will be sorted in 3-5 business days or 10 business days I dont know why they keep saying two different time ranges. But either way 4 weeks off on an approved medical leave far surpasses all of these time frames and I have bills to pay. Im SO frustrated and worried about losing my house or having utilities shut off. This just isnt fair. I pay them on time for this benefit plan but they cant even get me one correct payment on time. This is my third medical leave this year due to my health. Working with this company is very stressful and scary to say the least.
