I am filing this complaint regarding a disputed charge from Talkiatry for services I did not knowingly receive, consent to, or receive documentation for. Despite months of multiple written attempts and phone calls to resolve this with their billing department, I have received only vague responses, no supporting documentation, and no follow-up after a formal escalation request. On November 12, 2024, I had a virtual psychiatric appointment intended solely for management of medications I have been prescribed for 5 years. I was later billed $787.61 for three virtual sessions, including a charge for CPT code ***** Additional Supportive Psychotherapy on my first visit.I obtained my provider's clinical notes directly from Talkiatry, which show only CPT code ***** for that visit. There is no mention of code ***** or documentation of any separate therapeutic service. I have repeatedly asked the billing department to:- Provide documentation supporting the ***** charge - Explain what specific therapeutic service was performed to justify the charge - Provide proof that I was informed of additional services or cost estimates prior to scheduling They have not answered these questions. Instead, theyve repeated that the codes are supported in the documentation, without actually providing that documentation or citing any relevant medical note.I also explicitly asked them to provide proof that I was informed of any out-of-pocket cost range or estimate prior to my first appointment. They did not respond. Had I been given a cost estimate or range, I would not have booked the appointment due to financial limitations. After submitting a formal escalation request and receiving no reply for over 10 days, I followed up with a final notice stating I would file complaints with the BBB, HHS, and my insurer if I did not receive a response. As of now, I have still received no resolution or documentation.

At this time, I have been contacted directly by Talkiatry regarding complaint ID ********, however my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I was not provided with any of the information I have been requesting for months, nor did they directly respond to my concerns regarding my billing. I was instead emailed a notice of Talkiatry ending my care. I have still yet to receive any response from them regarding my bill.

In order for the BBB to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

I saw one therapist there. I did not need to see another one or continue so I tried to close my account.IMPOSSIBLE. There is no way to do it and so they keep spamming you for another visit. I have tried calling, chatting, texting and emailing. I get verbal apologies but they keep contacting me over and over. SPAM, SPAM and the eternal SPAM. At this point it just seems like harassment and I see no way to stop them. Since my computer is not always used just by me I consider there consistent use of emails against my specific demands for them to stop contacting me to be a violation of my HIPAA agreement of confidentiality with them. Oh yeah they have even called me on the phone too. I want my records expunged and for them to never contact me again. I owe them no money.

I had an appt with Talkiatry on 4/14. I filled out a questionnaire prior asking if I drink, smoke, do drugs. I put on the questionnaire and told the psychiatrist I have a medical marijuana card that I use for anxiety/depression. She proceeds to tell me that it may counteract the medication she prescribed which was 30mg ********. I had a follow up on 5/5 and the total appt was less than 10 min. She asked me again if I smoke medical marijuana which I said yes to again and she kindly told me I was out of scope and couldn't see me anymore but would double my dosage and refill my prescription. I am now being billed for both visits and they are saying it's valid. Had the ** read the questionnaire in detail she would have known from moment 1 I was a medical user and to not waste my time. Now I have had my time wasted, a prescription drug introduced into my system that I cant just stop taking and they are saying that both dates the billing codes are valid. My point is if I'm out of scope for you then everything should be void. Please help in resolving this matter

I was advised that they would check my insurance coverage before providing service and charging me. They provided me care before telling me that my insurance did not cover the full amount for the virtual visits. After the appointments, I was then billed for $315.63, and my insurance did not cover any of the part I was billed for.

I used talkiatry and the first meeting was good. They did not show up for the meeting. They have a 100 dollar fee for missed appointments. I want my money refunded and the 100 dollars. They are disgusting.

I was charged by a telehealth provider, Talkiatry, for services that I do not feel were provided. I was forced to use this provider, which I have had negative experiences with in the past, by my insurance as the only telehealth option. The doctor billed me for services that were outside the scope of what he provided. I filed a complaint through the business, who of course said the file was documented to support what was billed. *** also filed a complaint through my insurance, as I do not feel they should be paying for the additional services either, but have not received a response to date. The company continues to send payment notices and threaten collections but I will not be paying for services I did not receive and feel the company fraudulently billed for.

I am submitting this complaint regarding Talkiatry for improper billing practices and failure to respond to a formal dispute. I sought care solely for an ADHD evaluation and medication management, and I was never informed, scheduled, or consented to participate in psychotherapy sessions.Despite this, I have been billed over $1,200, with multiple charges coded as psychotherapy sessions. When I inquired, Talkiatry provided clinical notes citing 18 minutes of "supportive" conversation and "psychoeducation" that occurred during my psychiatric visit. These brief, general discussions about medication side effects and lifestyle tips were part of the standard evaluation, not separate or formal therapy sessions.Nowhere in my medical records does it indicate that I requested or agreed to therapy. Talkiatry has also confirmed they do not have recordings or documentation showing that I scheduled or consented to any psychotherapy.I formally disputed the charges by email, and received no response for over a week. I followed up again, stating I would escalate the issue, and still have not received resolution. This feels like misrepresentation of services. I am now working with my insurance provider to dispute these charges as potential fraudulent billing.I am seeking a full correction of my bill, removal of all inappropriate therapy charges, and assurance that they cease this practice with other patients.

I have had my appointment scheduled several times to be canceled or rescheduled last minute. I put time aside for my appointments, but its superinconvenient if they keep getting canceled. Its happened over four times, and I havent even met the psychiatrist. Now I have to cancel my subscription becauseof all of this. I have ******, but Talkiatry has been super unreliable. Plus, I had requested somebody from the ********** region, but they couldnt even provide that. So I would get calls or emails around 5 AM because they were in the **********.

I received a bill for a day of service which is not correct, as I received a reminder about the appointment with an option to cancel or reschedule if necessary, which i immediately did for 4/23./25 at 7am. I have now cancelled that appointment as I am not working with a company that does this type of practice with their patients.

Upon beginning the service, my first appointment was intended to verify my insurance and match with a provider that accepts my insurance to cover visits with a doctor. The company claimed my insurance was not working or cancelled. I had to go through hoops to prove my insurance was active. In many instances, it appeared like I was being accused of some kind of fraud. In one phone I was asked to put someone from my insurance on the line to confirm this information. After three appointments, the issue was resolved. The insurance was no longer under the group they initially thought it was. I was then informed that the doctor I was matched is not covered. I am left with a bill for all three appointments. Please see the email chain below with my most recent correspondence. Thank you for your support. ***** *******
