My mother is another elderly victim of this scam. She did not / would not order any books, not how she does things. We will not be paying this invoice for $69.06 nor will we be returning the book. And I do hope that Trusted Media is going to not have a response to this as the others below stating: "I would like to provide some information and clear up any misunderstanding". There is ABSOLUTELY no Misunderstanding!

In order to respond to your review comments dated 7/7/23 more information is needed regarding your mother's name and address and account number if known so we can locate her account. Also, what book was she was being billed for so we can look into this and make any corrections needed.Sincerely,Customer Service ***************************

Same as all the comments here. My 88 year old mother in law got a readers digest book from trusted media brands that she did not order. She has been really worried about getting the book, now to send it back. She says she did not order it, but apparently so do all the other people who commented here. And I have emailed readers digest and have not received a response. This should be illegal. It is a scam and a trick and causes unnecessary stress on the elderly. Since no one has contacted me I will just trash this book and invoice. I don't know how to unenroller????

So we were surprised to receive a Birds and Blooms annual in the mail 3 or 4 days ago of which we did not order. The bill was $27.77 of which we had no intention of paying. We called an 800 number my wife located online for Birds and Blooms, but the office was closed last Friday. This morning I called that number and it was not in use! I searched for Trusted Media Brands and came up with this web site. I was surprised to see how many complaints there were. I called the number recommended on this web site, and spoke to a customer service representative. I explained the issue and he asked for the account number, our name and address. He had a foreign accent so I didn't quite understand what he said occurred, BUT he did say he would cancel our book club membership, again, of which we did not request. I asked him to send me an email telling us the book club was cancelled. He said we would receive it within 24 hours. He told me we could keep the annual, our membership was cancelled, and we owed nothing for the book. I am going to give 2 stars. One for how we received the annual in the first place, and 3 for the representative quickly solving the issue (we hope).

Thank you for contacting Trusted Media Brands. I write in response to the complaint by this customer. I would like to provide some information about the customers order and clear up any misunderstanding. On November 30, 2022, we received an order from the customer for a book in the Best of Birds and Blooms book series. As stated in the offer, when ordering this book, the customer would automatically be enrolled to preview other books in the series for a 30-day period with no obligation to buy and the option of canceling membership at any time. We shipped the book on December 8, 2022. On April 20, 2023, we mailed an advance notice advising the customer of the next book in the series to be sent. That book was shipped on June 26, 2023, along with an invoice. We have discontinued the customers enrollment in the series and cancelled any unpaid invoices for this series. The customer *** keep the book and should disregard any further invoices that *** be in process for that book. I hope this helps clear up any misunderstanding. I apologize for any disappointment the customer *** have encountered with our company. Please contact us if we can be of further assistance.

This comment is for the July 5, 2023 email received by Trusted Media Brands.1. If we made an order for a book on Nov. 30, 2022, it was made by mistake. I do believe we did place an order for an additional 1 year subscription to Birds and Blooms. This will be our final subscription.2. We did NOT receive any book shipped on Dec. 8, 2022. We have lived here for nearly 4 years also. That is a good thing we received no book as we never wanted to receive any books.3. We never received an advance notice that was to have been mailed April 20, 2023. It would have surprised us. We would have taken action then.4. We DID receive an advance notice about a package arriving soon by the **** perhaps a day or so around June 26, 2023. That surprised us. The notice did NOT say where the package was coming from, or what it was. We received the book around July 1.We hope this clears things up a little better.

This SCAM hit me. A book arrived WITH A BILL. I never ordered the book and do not intend to pay. This type of scam is ILLEGAL. This is from the Federal Trade Commission's website: "By law, companies cant send unordered merchandise to you, then demand payment. That means you never have to pay for things you get but didnt order. You also dont need to return unordered merchandise. Youre legally entitled to keep it as a free gift." I will be cancelling my magazine subscription to Readers Digest as well.

Like many others, (see below) I was sent a book I did not request. I ordered a subscription to Birds and Blooms ONLY. If I want to buy a book about birds I will go to Amazon where there is competition, ***** Paperbackswap.com, etc... Never would I buy a book retail. Now the collections manager is threatening to send the account ($28.11) to collection agency. Threatening a senior citizen because they will not submit to this scam. Really bad business. I liked the photography and content in the magazine. I do not like the attempt to scam.

Received an invoice for a book my elderly mum never received. Our address was wrong, though we received the bill. Called and cancelled account. The rep tried to sell me a binder to keep my books in before we hung up. Hopefully we won't hear from them again.

We will need your mother's name and address to look up her subscription or product account to make sure she has been removed from all mailing lists. Was this a book product or a magazine. If a magazine which title was this for? Upon receipt of the information requested we will be able to respond accordingly and make any adjustments on her account.Sincerely,Customer Service ***************************

In March I received a Reader's Digest in the mail. I never subscribed to ************** and tried to find a contact number to call but could not find one, when I received a second Reader's Digest, I found an email for customer service and tried that. Found out through a series of emails that last fall I started a subscription when Country and Country Extra were terminated but I had a subscription left over. At the time, I had requested a refund which I never got. Reader's Digest policy was that my eight month subscription would end next month so they had fulfilled their responsibilities and would offer no other solution. I never made a subscription to Reader's Difest nor did I receive eight months of magazines nor do I want one. They refused to help me and offered no other solution.

Giving Trusted Media Brands a 1-Star rating out of 5 is too high. Judging by my experience with this company, and by the content of other customer reviews on this website, ********************** regularly engages in deceptive business practices, preys on the elderly, and tries to bully consumers into paying for products they did not order and do not want by turning customer accounts over to a collection agency. In my case, TMB sent a Family Handyman Best Tips and Projects book, billed me $34.67 for it, then continued billing me for the book after I sent it back at my expense along with a letter explaining why I did not want the book and would not pay for it. Based on Title 39, ** Code Sec. 300 of the ** *************** I did not have to return the unsolicited item or pay for it. Unfortunately, TMB did not respond to my letter, nor did they stop billing me. Instead, they slandered my good credit by turning my account over to a collection agency, ***********************, which also has a 1-star customer review rating with the ********************. I responded to the Penn Collection letter with my side of the story and I was informed in their reply that **** " . . . obtained verification of the debt from the original creditor." Really? What verification? Perhaps I will ***************** and TMB for all the time I am wasting on this debt collection nonsense. My verification for the legitimacy of their debt will be my letters to both companies, this customer review, and all the complaints I am going to file with two state-attorneys-general, two state licensing agencies, ** Postal Inspectors, the ************************* and ****** ************************************* I will also bring this scam to the attention of consumer reporters in the media markets where TMB and Penn operate. I will follow-up on this customer review with formal complaints about each company, along with my account numbers, to the BBB offices in the cities where the companies list their operating addresses. **************
