The Manager of this firm was the Secretary of East/West Vending Systems. There is a separate report available on East/West Vending Systems. In October 1998, the Bureau requested that this firm provide proof that individuals have earned back their investments in the firm'sf vending machines. In response, the firm stated that, since it had only started marketing the machines since August 1998, it was not able to provide the requested information. In December 1998, the Bureau asked the firm to provide proof that individuals were earning a weekly salary of $46.80 per machine, as clained in the firm's ads. The firm failed to respond. In February 2000, Target Vending Systems and East/West Vending Systems (under single ownership), were charged with false advertising by the Federal Trade Commission. The ads stated that if consumers bought a vending machine, they would be able to get a route and make a profit. The court ruled that the company is prohibited from false advertising and violating franchise law. The company turned over all assets and records to a permanent receiver who will supervise these items. In agreeing to this settlement, the company denied any wrongdoing.
