    We opened a heloc with a promotional rate in June of last year. We were told at the time that in a year if the regular rate was too high we could just ask to extend our line and we would qualify for the new promotional rate. This June the rate increased almost 7 percent. We immediately contacted **** to increase our line in order to take advantage of the current promotion. I was not able to speak to the person that handled our initial loan (not sure why) but the person who reached out to me told me he could handle. After submitting all required paperwork and having to follow up multiple times to find out what was happening we were informed one month into the process that **** could not do what we were told they could do. I did not understand the email answer nor do I understand why we were lied to. Now we are stuck paying 10% interest with no out because they will charge us if we close the account within 3 years of opening, even though we were misled during the process. I did not think that a Credit Union would treat us so dishonestly. Guess we learned a costly ******* I would not recommend even contacting this Credit Union as there are many honest brokers out there that you can deal with instead.
