We had Port Plumbing come to connect our new refrigerator to the water line. Later that night, it somehow disconnected and flooded our kitchen. The water seeped through the floor into the ceiling of the basement below, causing extensive damage to the ceiling and floor of the basement. When I spoke with the owner, ***** Blasucci, the next morning regarding the situation, he begged me not to file a claim with insurance because as he stated, his insurance company would drop him if he had one more claim filed against him. He offered, instead, to take care of the damage and renovate the room. While he did initially come through with sending people to remove the carpet and ceiling, the trouble began with the renovation. He sent us people with whom there was a language barrier, did not show proof of being bonded or licensed to do this work in any way, and there was a period of a few weeks during which the ceiling was left half-finished and nobody showed up. The story was that the worker had broken his leg. Most recently, ***** agreed to renovate our walls, in exchange for the floor renovation, for the mere purpose of expediting the situation. It's been 3 months since the flooding and the work is still not complete. Upon inspection of their work, we've determined that they were not doing the work professionally. They plastered a great deal of the room and had to do an otherwise unnecessary amount of sanding. They did not mask off the room properly and as a result, there is plaster dust all over the surrounding areas and our cats got down there and also keep getting covered in plaster dust. This morning, the worker opened the basement window to run an electrical line without telling me and my indoor cat escaped. I found him in his truck having a snack. Now we have an escaped cat, probable damage to some of our property due to the dust, and my partner, who has nodes in his lungs, has been having allergic reactions and trouble breathing over the last few days.
