    Facility is falsifying my records to indicate that I did no call no show to an appointment I had called and cancelled. When I spoke to the office manager, they refused to give their name and refused to give me a print out/online access to their practice policies. “Manager” laughed at my expense and said that regardless if patients cancel or reschedule they note it as a no call no show and a fee follows. I accepted the fee, but asked that I be noted as cancelling so my patient compliance history was not affected. Once again, manager laughed at my expense and said that it was still a no call no show. Manager also stated that if they felt I had too many “no shows” my patient right to choose my physician was revoked and I only was allowed to see the male physician at their facility. Manager stated “that’s just how we do things in this practice”
    This is fraudulent documentation and they are extorting money out of patients who do show the curtesy to call. Every practice has a right to a “cancellation fee” but no call no show has a different effect towards patient care than a patient simply cancelling or rescheduling.

    After reading the complaint of our patient I want to say that we give every patient our Notice of Practice when they first come in as a new patient.  That was the case with ****** *********** She signed the acknowledgement and we scanned it into her chart.  I don't remember her ever asking me for it and don't see why I would refuse. Just as there isn't any reason for me not to give my name.I am sorry that she felt I was laughing at her, that was not my intention. I tried to get her to understand that we do not tell other providers that she "no showed" and it will not affect her patient compliance history.  In the Notice of Practice it states if a patient fails to give a 24 hour notice to cancel they will be charged a $25 no show fee. If a patient calls day of or not at all it is considered a no show. ****** called 1 hour before her appointment to cancel.I will remove the no show this one time and put a note in that we were notified an hour before the  appointment since the patient will not be returning to the practice.
