    We learned about Rhonda’s Footeworks inclusive dance classes through ********* Recreation. My son has Down syndrome and physical and sensory processing challenges. He’s had such a wonderful experience and has grown so much socially that we’ve enrolled him in a regular class at Rhonda’s Footeworks. Rhonda and all of the instructors are so patient and clearly experienced with children of all ages and abilities and do everything they can to see their students have fun, learn, grow and succeed in their goals.

    This studio is NOT a good fit for people of color, nor their children. When dance instructors pin something about a child, rather than addressing an issue right then while the parent is present, is beyond me!! And when the parents request a meeting with themselves and the instructor and the Director. The Director rather choose to email and on the day of the meeting, cancels and says the child is not a good fit? This is so unprofessional, this is racial profiling, this says to me that what ever issue the instructor had, it should have been addressed when it happened. Also if the application states a need then; it would not got to this point. But don’t assume anything rather be professional and speak with the parents in person to get resolution and always, always listen to the parties at hand. I would advise anyone of color, not to take their children there!!!

    This is the last correspondence I had with the family. They did not respond or ask for a **** meeting per my request. I have never met them in person and had no knowledge of their race. Their statements are false. I emailed them eight times prior to their daughter registering and her sensory issues never came up. I offered legitimate alternatives to a dance experience for their daughter where a parent could be in the room, which was the mother's request.

    Unfortunately, **** ***** has changed my delivery time for my new washing machine from this morning to early afternoon so I will need to cancel for today.
    I could do a Zoom meeting instead, but will not be able to meet at the studio.
    Prior to our meeting, I want to share that I had an extensive conversation with Miss (name deleted for privacy) regarding (name deleted for privacy) and she feels strongly that (name deleted for privacy) is not a good fit for the Saturday class and that she needs to be in a setting where you can be present.
    Therefore, I will be refunding your $124.50 this morning. It will take 3-5 days to clear your account. We can discuss her options, but I am including contact information here for your reference of programs that may be a better fit for her:

    Beyond dance, this organization is a dynamic force in our community for children with sensory issues. They offer a plethora of programs and a wonderful community. ***** *****: (contact deleted for privacy)
    allows parents in the studio space during classes. Ask for ***** and let her know I referred you. She is wonderful!
    I often use the analogy that dance is like pizza. Everyone just needs to find the right toppings for their slice and enjoy it and let others enjoy their slice. At this juncture, our program is just not the right slice for (name deleted for privacy)
    I am more than happy to chat via **** today if you wish, but do want to let you know how things will proceed on my end for the best of the majority of students in class AND for (name deleted for privacy)
