BBB has sent correspondence to TAG Family NP on August 8, 2024, January 6, March 25, and May 8, 2025, requesting substantiation for, or modification of advertised medical claims on the website, https://tagfamilynp.com/.
BBB requested substantiation for health and wellness claims or that they be discontinued. Unless randomized clinical trials or similar scientific substantiation are available, BBB asked that businesses avoid advertising overall product claims for compounded drugs which are not FDA approved, and only advertise ingredient claims for FDA approved drugs that can be substantiated.
Businesses making direct claims concerning overall uniquely formulated products, such as compounded drugs for Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, Peptide Therapy, etc., rather than only advertising the benefits of individual ingredients, must retain testing on the overall products themselves. The evidence requested for compounded drug product claims would require results from clinical studies using the same dosage.
The business is offering peptide therapy for weight loss, building muscle and enhancing performance, amongst other claims, and is using peptides such as BPC-157 and TB-500, CJC-1295 and lpamorelin. The FDA issued information on September 27, 2024 which included a list of bulk drug substances which may have potential safety risks and/or clinical data is limited and these peptides are on that list which can be found here: https://www.fda.gov/drugs/human-drug-compounding/certain-bulk-drug-substances-use-compounding-may-present-significant-safety-risks. BBB requested that this information be provided in the advertising as well as the fact that they are not FDA approved. The business is advertising only suspected benefits and not significant safety warnings that have been issued. While the website does have a "Disclaimer" page, BBB would request that whether the product is FDA approved and any FDA warning information be disclosed in a clear and conspicuous location in close proximity to the advertised product and/or claim.
