      Call for furnace service placed 4/2/2025. Technicians determined a controller board fault. I explained to techs that I would normally repair the board myself (as I repair electronics as a hobby) but am currently without heat and am working 16 hour days. The technicians quoted me the price of the repair ($961.35) and I wrote a check. They explained they would be back tomorrow to replace the board.

      4/3/2025 - furnace repaired. I returned from work at 4pm and looked for the old controller board, but could not find it. My wife called Collis and spoke to Jim - he indicated that the technician was supposed to leave it behind. I would have expected that regardless, as it still is my property - functional or not. No receipt was left - Jim said the receipt is sent once the check clears...

      Phone calls placed 4/7 and 4/8 were finally returned on 4/9 when Cruz called and stated my controller board was discarded the next day. Receipt was then e-mailed to me:

      $99 Dispatch Fee
      $785 Control Board
      $77.35 Tax

      This is a refurbished control board that I received. Looking up the part number, the prices are in the mid to low $100 range. The most expensive I found was $225. Some refurbished ones around $40.

      Considering I cannot repair my old board, as it was improperly discarded, I am asking for half of the price I was charged for the "new" board. I did not give Collis permission to remove my property and discard it. I also feel that I was taken advantage of with the price I was charged for the board.

      Service Manager, Brittany, called Harold to apologize for the disposal of their faulty control board and explained our normal practice is to dispose of parts that need to be replaced and also explained our flat rate pricing model that was quoted/invoiced. They both agreed to a refund check in the amount $255.57 to cover the cost of the control board and a note that the customer wants to keep all faulty parts in the future unless otherwise specified.

      I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 23198991, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.  

      In fact, the company went beyond my expectations to retain my business and make my experience a pleasant one after all.
