      My 5 year old boiler had become very unreliable, several technicians tried fixing it without success. I was ready to get rid of it. Three other HVAC companies looked at the system and provided quotes for a replacement boiler. Jamie K*** came to my home to work up an estimate, but after seeing the boiler, instead of just writing up a quote for a new boiler, suggested that I might like to have one of the Collis techs inspect it to see if it could be fixed. The next day Matt from Collis came by and diagnosed the problem, obtained the needed replacement parts, and had the boiler dialed in purring like a kitten. Matt clearly knows what he is doing. What an incredible positive experience.

      I had great confidence in contacting Fred Collis & Sons for servicing my furnace as they had helped me 2 years ago. Unfortunately, the service technician seemed more interested in selling me other products and parts not necessary. After I pointed out a problem, the technician keyed in a bunch of figures and stated he had to replace a couple parts without even testing anything. I questioned that and he said he had to replace these parts without any further explanation and said sign here. The final bill I received did not explain what work was done, or what the problem was they found. It only listed the parts replaced with the price that apparently includes the labor. The total of my bill was over $1300 for 2 parts that appeared to have been ridiculously marked up and took one hour for them to finish the work. I called when I got the invoice to ask about a break down and was told they don’t do that. They also do not put any warranty in writing. This is a very shady company. I understand there has to be a markup on parts but they are grossly overcharging for parts or their labor rates are $500 an hour. I wouldn’t mind paying that much money if someone could have honestly told me what the parts and labor were broken down so I could at least have some idea. I was originally given two quotes, one for $1000 and then suddenly it was $300 more. I do not feel comfortable ever calling them again for help.

      I cannot say enough about the owners of this company and the amount they care for their customers and their employees. If you want quality service from great people that genuinely care, Collis is the company to choose.
