I'm furthering & lastly leaving the final review from my unfortunate experience at Dave's Supermarket in Midtown Cleveland from 03/08/3025 & the past 24 months prior for Dave's Supermarket Headquarters reference only.
The situation has fortunately been quiet since Mar 8 2025. Nothing has surfaced since though I've only been there at that Dave's once since then.
However, as I mentioned in my previous complaint, the Main individual esp in the Liquor Store department was very rude, disrespectful, unlawful, prejudice, and "publicly & verbally" wasn't willing to serve me at one point as soon as he seen me walking in the Liquor Store [on 03/08/2025] He not only rolled his eyes, and neglected his job that day in front of the Dave's Store Manager, but also murmured at me 2 days prior with absolutely zero understanding of my circumstances I explained to him, and never apologized for the other 8 times I complained to the other Store Managers there since he first been there around Nov. 2024.
Marvin [the Liquor Store Employee's name] & the other short darker complexioned younger lady w/ him there around Dec/Jan 2024/2025 unfortunately we're way too concerned about me showing them my ID Card & giving it to them [in their hands] when they already knew me & knew my ID Card wasn't expired. Marvin? Complained about that them two times afterwards along them other six times he dealt with me unprofessionally, prior, for reasons I don't know and never did. I just wanted to give [my father] his E&J Brandy like I always did before he & that younger lady even first worked there during that period of Nov. 2024- -
I don't know their circumstances & situations of course. But, I don't know why both of them especially Marvin kept mistreating me unkindly every time. I actually respected him especially until he began prejudging me unknowingly after the first time I dealt with him.
To me, neither he [Marvin esp.] nor [the other lady mentioned] need to be working at any Dave's Supermarket

I **** ****** sincerely thank you for responding back to my loving concern I had of this situation from the past 6-8 months. To reinform the employees [including the two employees in the Liquor Store Department], I do sincerely apologize if for some reason I mistakenly caused any misunderstanding towards both of them in my dealings with them since Nov/Dec 2024-. There's nothing personal against them at all whatsoever in anyway, accept for holding them accountable in a respectful way. Due to my personal family stresses & difficulties throughout the [past 24-36 months until about the past 4-6 recently], I've had difficulty with coping with my father's extremely poor health & physical sicknesses during this time. The two employees didn't understand that, of course, and honestly weren't supposed to. I don't hold any fault on them on these things. They just unfortunately misunderstood my curtesy for reasons I don't need to worry about from them, and therefore, I completely forgive them & never had anything against them. However, due to my personal struggles until recently with my mental health conditions that have now been treated well for my & my family & friends benefits, the anxiety did cause me more stress from both of their unkind remarks & especially [Marvin's] in my dealings with him & has caused me much stress but only temporarily. For whatever reason he felt the way he felt about me & my behaviors after the first time I dealt with him is something I'm even still confused about at this point, because I honestly thought I was just being curteous like most others were & even with those I already knew before [he] first came there as an employee. I'm not whatsoever saying he should be fired or gone from his job in any way, actually. I actually still have much respect for him in the way he handles himself elsewise. But, if anyone already complained about someone at least 8 different times & left it alone after the first 3-4 times especially for their concern, respectfully speaking, and they still are being provoked twice in one week [two days apart] in their dealings with them, and then [he] decides not to want to allow [me] to quietly handle [my] affairs by paying [Dave's Store Liquor Department] the E&J Brandy & then call the store manager [who understandably wasn't even inside the store at the time until [I] explained to him what happened once [I] asked for him], then how can anyone at that point not help but wonder exactly what has been said about them or anyone else in that regards? Even if I did honestly offend or unknowingly provoke him in any way [and I honestly more than likely probably did without realizing it], why couldn't [Mr. Marvin] at least speak up & tell me about it right away in case perhaps we both had a misunderstanding, and could've resolved it right away? I have absolutely no intent nor thinking nor reasoning of him in any way of losing his job, or holding anything against him in any way. The same is for the other younger lady who unknowingly misunderstood about me not want her & him to touch my State-ID & the money I gave them that afternoon. My State-ID was not ever expired, and I handed them the State-ID in front of them like I've always done since coming there when Midtown Dave's first opened alongside the State Store Liquor Department. That's was all I was honestly trying to do everything there especially that particular day alongside the others in my overall dealings with the both of them in particular. Nothing personal in any way towards them or anyone else in the store. I'm just there to shop & go about my daily affairs after finishing paying my overall groceries in full amount [Dave's Supermarket or wherever else]. Therefore, since I honestly acknowledged as much as I possibly could in total overall accountability [and therefore again apologize for any unknowing & unintentional offense], I don't look to any further resolutions or complaints on any further matters at this point forwards. I was only being accountable & protective for mainly myself & my family's [father's mainly] circumstances & current phyisical & mental matters he's still gradually improving from at this current time forward. And, due to that & overall, I respectfully decide not to return at the Midtown Dave's Liquor Store Department only & mainly from here on out, in due respects & understanding of everyone there for every reason I stated overall. And, I still don't have any resentment towards anyone of them there [including the young lady & the gentleman in this customer complaint]. When I'm there, of course, like always, even & especially since my father's last been there for about over 24+ months ago, I'm just there to shop, pay groceries, show curtesy & loving gratitude for the right reasons, and then leave. Therefore, I have absolutely nothing further to comment on.
      Thank You,
      Much Gratitude

I would not recommend this Dave's to anyone who wants quality food items. The workers are severely unprofessional, and unhappy and the Manager is extremely rude and does not value customer service. I went to the Dave's location in Ohio City (Carroll Ave) to purchase two subs. The lady at the counter let out a loud sigh, frowning her face and said that "Two subs was too many sandwiches to make and that I needed to call if I wanted two subs." (Coming from the East Coast, workers are more active and energetic and serve a lot of people daily. East Coast deli workers are able to quickly make about 4-5 or more sandwiches at a time and you only have to call in an order if you need catering). The same worker at this Dave's then tried to start an argument because I asked for my peppers on the side so my roll wouldn't get wet, and she said she wasn't allowed to put anything on the side but that my peppers were going on the sub. Something else I'm not used to, coming from the East Coast; we get stuff on the side all the time. I told the Manager; he listened to my complaint while another associate was standing and listening and laughing. The Manager (Who started talking over me loudly and rough and was sarcastically laughing) told me to go back to where I came from. I also purchased lunch meat from the deli counter. I came home and got food poisoning from their lunch meat. You can report them to the owner all you want; He doesn't do anything and is concerned more about money than customers. This is Cleveland!

On 7/29 I sent my husband to this Dave's location to get 10 lottery picks. Upon realizing the clerk only gave him 5, he got back in line to address the clerk. She told him that should would need to "count her drawer," which means absolutely nothing to someone who has never worked in retail, so he waited to the side for her to do this. After about 10 minutes, this clerk called a manager and told her my BLACK husband, who had done nothing but stand and wait was scaring her. The manager, without uttering a word to my husband, had security remove him.
I then went into the store and spoke to this same "manager" relaying what happened. She informed me that they would be unable to count the drawer until the lottery stand closed, took my name and number, and said she would call (as of now, she was not).
If she had taken the time to assess the situation appropriately and address my husband with the respect that he deserves as a customer and a PERSON, I would have no problem. Instead, three white people got together today and treated my husband like a common criminal because of a mistake made by an incompetent clerk who was either too stupid or too lazy to do her job properly and decided to play the "scary black man card" instead.
