  I wouldn't give them a star. Here is our list of issues that they did not stand behind. Upstairs baths they did not put the proper materials under the shower and bath tubs. They both cracked and ruined the ceilings downstairs. No warranty support from Schumacher. Oak doors falling off of their hinges because the frames are not installed properly. Appliances all broken after 7 years. Dishwasher, Microwave, Garbage Disposal and Hot water tank.. Drywall nails popping through the drywall all over the house. Foundation cracks in the basement. Electrical blows breakers often in the house. Dead receptacles. Lights not installed correctly so now screws falling apart. Ceiling fan that is wobbling and sounds like it is going to take off. Carpet is deteriorating turning into some kind of black melted mush. If you build with Schumacher you are a fool. This man should be in prison for his theft of his customers. Do not build with this company. I should have known when all the workers were foreign that we were going to be in trouble. Sorry I forgot the garage door has been fixed twice. PS there are no warranties with this company. They are ignored by Schumacher.

  Schumacher homes are solid built, that is why 2 stars vs 1. However once that last check is written, forget it. Jackie in the SC office is typically rude and Eric is rarely helpful. Jerry calls every few months, with no progress. It is going on 4 years and the original list is still not done. The sliding doors are warped and barely slide depending on the weather. An 84 Lumber rep confirmed this is 2021 and the doors are still fixed. Home owner is still waiting on the new front door promised this summer, stain for fireplace switches, soft close cabinet to be fixed in kitchen to name a few. BTW the switches for the fireplace are pointless since there is no blower for the fireplace. I truly believe that Paul Schumacher built his business with integrity and his employees are letting his reputation be destroyed by their lack of completion. Here are two photos from uncompleted projects. The light switches need stained and the front door was never done properly. The originally the door was painted the same color as the house. The goal is for the door to have a wood grain finish. The home owners (owners with an S) in SC are waiting to be to be, not only acknowledged, but have the homes they love completed properly. Thank you Mr. S********* for your assistance.

  ??From start to finish and follow up one year after we moved in review??
  July 2022 - I have never been to Schumacher homes. My husband and I wanted to visit and to see what plans and designs they had to offer. We met with Brian N***** at the Cygnet site. He was incredible to work with. His professionalism, pride and attentiveness to what we were looking for was amazing. After our second meeting, he was able to then create a custom home to our very liking. He was never pushy. He always kept our plans in mind. It was an incredible experience. No wonder we decided to go with Schumacher Homes.
  Update one year later Aug. 2023
  Schumacher came back out 1 year later to our home and addressed every single area of concern that we had. They repaired nail pops, corner beads, imperfections of any kind. They repainted the repaired areas. And even Culley, our Schumacher Warranty Repair Rep, cleaned my fan blades while he was putting a finishing touch on our wooden beam. (See photo) They brought out the very best 3rd party dry wall/painter…. Mark L********** is awesome. Culley and Mark made this a painless and even great experience. NEVER did they look down on one of our needs. They were like “Give it to us!! If you want to build and you want the care after the build, then Schumacher is the builder with integrity, the professionalism, the skill and the follow through you’re looking for. Our Schumacher Contractor during the build was Brian A******. I cannot begin to thank him enough for pretty much holding our hand through the entire process. His professionalism and integrity went above and beyond. Thank you Aaron M**** for the incredible patients and follow through since we moved into our home back in August 2022. You have orchestrated so much on our behalf and we are profoundly grateful. Thank you Schumacher Homes for building us our forever home and for ensuring even a year later that it is every bit what we expected it to be and what you ensured it would be. ??

  We love our Santa Barbara II home. Schumacher did an amazing job and our house was completed in less than 100 days. Our general contractor, Colby R******* is the BEST ever. He was very easy to work with and was available to text and call when I had questions or concerns. Everyone at Schumacherhomes in *********** Ohio was very nice and made it easy from the start to finish. I highly recommend Schumacherhomes.

  We built a Schumacher home in 2001 (in ******* County, OH). Now, 22 years, later, we’ve finally corrected the errors they made in building it, at an extraordinary additional and totally unnecessary out-of-pocket cost to us. They built the roof with an insufficient ridge vent and installed the attic baffles incorrectly, leading to years of moisture and mold buildup and necessitating not only replacing the roof, but tearing off and replacing the plywood sheeting underneath it. They failed to connect the rain drain tiles and foundation tiles, leaving them sitting in the gravel covered with duck tape, a fact we discovered after our third flood (we are on top of a hill) and second yard excavation to correct the problem. They used no moisture barrier ("Tyvek") when siding our home and flashed the siding incorrectly in the front, leading to years of a leaking front door and eventually having to tear out the entire front of the house, replacing it all, including the door and several windows. In the course of our battles with these issues, Schumacher denied all wrongdoing, blamed our problems on their subcontractors and fixed nothing for us. This company behaved towards us like a criminal enterprise and should be shut down.

  Foundation was poured 1 3/4" out of square, basement flooded the first month we lived in the house and Schumacher did absolutely nothing about it, upstairs bath tub drain leaked and had water damage to the kitchen ceiling with water gushing out from the canister light fixture, our front door needs to be replaced from paint peeling off, Kitchen counter top is separating from the wall, the list goes on and on. Schumacher rushes everything and when they come back to fix what they messed up the first time they leave it in worse shape then when they started. They are chaulk masters. I don't think their is a room in my house that doesn't have a piece of trim that wasn't cut correctly or that was broke and the contractor was too lazy to make it right so they used wood glue or chaulk to make it somewhat presentable. Building with Schumacher of Bowling Green Ohio was nothing but a nightmare.

  My husband and I have been involved in this build for several months now. We have gone way beyond our 195 days to build our home by several months and still not close. We were overcharged for electrical work because the electrician they contracted charged us for electrical fixtures that should’ve been included in the build. The quality of the tile and trim has been ridiculous. We had to have the master shower completely redone. We bought a $4000 front door that the tradesmen put a big gouge in and that has not been resolved. …too many issues to list, just want this to be done!
  I wish I had read these reviews before we signed the contract. We keep getting promises about work that will be done, and there have been weeks that only one or two days have someone there for part of the day…. I also have gotten conflicting reports about whether or not things were ordered i.e. railing, and electrical panel… at this point, would not recommend, they also say they are a custom home builder, but they offer very very few choices and if you ask to change something out, they tell you you it will void the warranty….

  You always hear about horror stories from others when building a new home, but this is not one of
  them. All of the Schumacher Homes construction crew members were very knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions we had. We had a few questions on the rough-in walk-through about placement of plumbing and electrical wires for the air conditioner which the construction foreman answered in detail. He gave us his personal phone number and let us know to call or text day or night if any issues came up.
  Our expectations were far exceeded. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Schumacher Homes to anyone looking to build a custom home.
