They approached us about having roof done. Had me sign a contract and worked with our insurance company. Sent an agreement via email to sign and gave an install date of 11/11/2024. On 11/08/20224, they sent an email stating that they couldn't do it for the agreed contract invoice. They were to take the $750 that the insurance was to provided and allow us to make 18 payments of $211.94. They are asking now for $3000.00 up front and make 18 payments of $150 a month. All of this is after they took existing shingles off my roof for "testing" they stated that the insurance company requires. Here we are heading into Winter and I will now have to go through with a damaged roof and more issues due to this practice. I have a signed agreement and an invoice outlining all of this.

As outlined in the attached invoice, Mr. ***** was required to make an initial payment of $985.08 in order to begin the project. Although the homeowner signed the contract, he subsequently declined to fulfill this payment obligation. Unfortunately, as a company, we cannot proceed with any work unless the terms of the contract are met.

In an effort to accommodate Mr. *****, we went beyond our standard policy and offered a no-interest payment plan to assist with the payment. Despite this, Mr. ***** once again expressed his inability to meet the financial requirements for the job. As a result, we presented an alternative proposal, which included a higher down payment due to concerns raised by his failure to pay the initial invoice.

Regarding the removal of shingles, this was a requirement stipulated by Mr. *****’s insurance carrier and was necessary for the progression of the work.

Given the ongoing issues with payment and communication, we are unable to continue working with Mr. *****.

    Sincerely,

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below.

I want the contract voided since they want to accuse me of not being able or willing to pay. They made the agreements and cancelled 3 days before installation. I had to continuously reach out to them for answers and did my due diligence to stick with them through all of the unanswered calls and emails. I do not want to deal with this company but I do want the papers they had me sign voided. They are making a slanderous judgement on me as I told them I took a second job to assure no payment would ever be missed.

    Regards,

    ***** *****

In response to the question have we ever been paid by the homeowner or his insurance company the answer is no. We have not received any money from the homeowner or the insurance company!

I have never heard of an insurance company paying a contractor directly under any claim a homeowner has filed for his insurance policy. And again I can not start work on any project that I'm told by the client that he doesn't have any money to pay us for our work.

The claimant (homeowner) was paid by his insurance company for the roof and he spent the money.

    Please end these baseless accusations.

    Truly yours,

    J*** C******
