I paid Tire Discounters (TD) in Louisville $5,685 for new tires, wheels, suspension lift kit and installation. A TD salesperson recommended all products and all were shipped directly to the store. About 1 month after installation while in TN, I experienced a very scary incident while driving. I heard metal pieces come loose and fall from the undercarriage. I was stranded on the side of the road and police came to help. It was discovered that the passenger control arm bar had become detached (bolt & screw gone) and the driver control arm bar was almost out (screw gone). I was slowly escorted by police to an auto store to buy parts for a temporary fix. The next day, TD advised to come to a Murfreesboro store for a permanent fix. They added new screws & bolts to securely attach both control arms. Once back in Louisville, I brought my Jeep to the Louisville store to see if they could figure out why this happened. The General Manager ***** said they didn't touch the control arms at all during install and it was the lift itself that caused this but "it shouldn't happen again". I was reimbursed for some inconveniences while in TN but not for anything else. I decided to investigate further and found the lift kit install instructions & list of kit parts. The kit came with control arm drop brackets which were not installed. The install instructions clearly list the steps of installing these pieces. The bolts and screws became unhinged from the control arms due to the brackets not being installed by TD. After speaking with a regional manager (**** he told me the shop didn't receive the brackets and received a different set of instructions, however, he could not produce these said instructions. *** wants me to come back and have TD attach the brackets now, however, I no longer trust TD. They are negligent and failed to investigate WHY this happened. After I uncovered their mistake, they still won't give me a refund for the parts and labor that I paid for but never received.Business Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ** ********* and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below and in previous replies. I can no longer trust Tire Discounters to perform any work on my vehicle. I should not have to drive out of the way to another town because they claim they have one person in the company who is experienced. I've already given Tire Discounters multiple opportunities to perform quality work and solve the problems that resulted from their negligent work and they have failed each attempt. I should not be forced to continue to use this company when they have already demonstrated to me that I cannot trust them. I don't think they understand the seriousness of the event that I experienced due to their negligence. I was lucky that my family & I were driving at low speeds on a desolate road. If my control arm bars failed at higher speeds, on an interstate, or around other vehicles then my family & I could have been killed and/or seriously injured and could have killed/injured other drivers on the road as well. If they still refuse to give me a refund, then they can continue to do so. I will not change my mind either. It's truly not so much about money than it is the principle of the matter. This situation says a lot about them as a company. They lack integrity and the ability to just do the right thing. I deserve to have my money back for the parts and labor that I paid for but were not received especially since I have given them multiple chances already. I will be sure to warn everyone I can about this company. I plan to contact local new stations with my story as well as leave reviews where I can. The public should be warned. My husband & I own a business in the city. We will be sure to spread the word of our experience.

8/1/2023 Got a flat tire on my way back to work on 4/30 had the car towed to the * **** location. Sean called on Monday and said I needed 3 news tires because they all had nails. I work from home and only drive on the highway once a month when I go into work. 6/30 went to work and the car was shaking. Drop the car off on our way out of town on 7/3. 7/10 go pick up the car it was still in the same spot where we left it but Sean said they’ve rebalanced and it. 7/30 drive to work same shaking as before. Took it in Sean is no longer there but thank god Holden is there to tell us there is all kind of stuff wrong now with the car and he will give me a 75.00 discount on 900.00 worth of work. Mind you they have no paperwork of our car being there in July and they’re just saying it’s a mishap and that the $75 discount is because they didn’t touch our car in July. Getting an attorney and taking the car to the dealer . Finish the Job
Additional information from customer 8/2/2023:
Problem: [Yesterday 6:25 PM] ******** ****** Had my car towed to the **** **** Location on 04/30/23 due to a flat. On 05/01/23 Shawn called and told me I would need 3 tires. I work from home and only drive the car on the interstate when I go in for monthly meetings. On 6/30/23 I noticed my car shaking on the interstate and brought it back in. We went out of town and was told they would take a look, after 5 days with no contact we stopped by to see if the car was ready since it was sill sitting in the same spot. Shawn told my husband " that it was good to go", when asked for paperwork Shawn said it was a busy Holiday for them and that he will find it We have been using this location since they opened and had 0 issues. On 7/8/23 I called and spoke to Shawn to ask for the paperwork for our records, he said he would find it and call us. 7/28/23 I drove my car, still doing the same thing it was doing the first time. On 08/1/23 my husband dropped off the car and AGAIN got Shawn who told him to tell Holden the new manager this issue. My husband tells Holden the issue and leaves the keyes. @ 3:20pm on 08/1/23 Holden tells me the wheel is messed up along with a bent rim and all of that would cost me $900.00. After telling Holden about the issue from 7/8/23 and that we doubt work was done, Holden admitted that we got bad customer service and that our car was not fixed nor this new issue found prior. He said we needed to get it fixed because it was dangerous and after complaint Holden said they would do part of the work but we would need to go to ******** to get the wheel part fixed and all he could give me was 75.00 off. I went to pick up my key @4:45pm, it took them 6 minutes to find my key and Holden was mystified on why we were upset and waived bye bye to us like we were children. So Tire Discounters and Shawn lied to me about my car having issues on 07/08/23 which based on Holden's description was dangerous to drive on AND LET ME DRIVE MYSELF, MY CHILDREN AD MY MOTHER in the car.

In late February 2023 I purchased an annual plan from Tire Discounters to skip the store and receive free valet for a year. It came with 2 free oil changes. At the time I only needed a tire repair and had them valet my car for the two new tires needed. In June, I scheduled an online appointment request for an oil change with valet for a date in July. I never hear back and when I call to verify the day prior of the requested date. The shop tells me that the valet service is no longer available and that is why they never scheduled with me. No one called to tell me this and/or discuss options which in itself is an issue. My real issue though is that I paid for a service that I cannot use as promised with purchase. I have called to discuss this with headquarters as directed by the shop, and the phone goes unanswered and I have not been called back. I need to be refunded for my purchase that they are unable to honor, and I'm disappointed with the customer service around this issue--seems intentional so they may keep funds for services unrendered.Business Response

Multiple people reached out to me. The first man was rude and unhelpful. I was denied a refund and told the service does still exist but that it changed. There are multiple issues that have gone unaddressed. First, the **** *** **** package now requires you to drive to the shop. Which is not what the service I was sold. I was told today that you drive your car to and from the shop, but Tire Discounters arranges a ride home and back so you don't have to wait in the shop. That’s not what I paid for and that is not Skipping the Shop. Second, the online schedule service never called me back to schedule my appointment and the store associate did not know the program existed or changed. I was unable to schedule an appointment utilizing my purchase. Third, I was never notified of a program change by mail, phone, or email. There was no communication from the company to their patrons. Fourth, I was not able to call and talk to a person with knowledge of the program I purchased until they received the BBB complaint. Later a woman called me back and was helpful and kind. She provided me the receipt and coupons I initially was never sent. This allows me to use the two free oil changes at any point I’m the future. Although this does not resolve the drop of service it at least allows me the rewards I was promised. You may close the complaint.Initial Complaint

Dropped car off for oil change and tire rotation at 8am. Had a 2:30 pm apt. Was told they would call me when car was finished and I could pick it up. Was not called until 4pm when I was informed the car was finished and the business was closed. I need my vehicle to get to work on Monday before they open. They have hijacked my vehicle and left me no way to work. I have one key for the vehicle so I'm unable to pay over the phone and them lock the key in the car. I told them I'd be there asap but it would be an hour they Sai ok. Got there at 5:02pm car was locked in building and nobody there.Business Response

I went into Tire Discounters to have new tires put on my truck. I told them I wanted to keep my old tires. After my truck was ready they called me to the front counter. The employee asked if I was paying with cash or card and I told him card. He then pointed to the debit card reader and told me that it was going to ask me some questions. The amount came up on the screen which read $891.21. I looked up at the employee and said “that’s right?” He glanced down at his computer and then back up to me and replied “yes sir”. I said ok and inserted my debit card into the reader and authorized the transaction. The invoice and receipt printed out beside the employee and he folded them up and put them into an envelope, handed me the envelope and my keys and said have a nice day. I walked to my truck and put the envelope in my glove box and drove off. Halfway home I noticed they didn’t put my old tires in the bed of my truck. About an hour after I got home I got 3 calls from a private name/number that I did not answer thinking it may be a telemarketer. I blocked the number. The next day I was going through emails and seen where my bank emailed me that my debit card had been used at Tire Discounters for the amount of $1,477.66. I went to my truck to get the invoice. I looked at it and noticed that the name, address and phone number on the invoice was not mine, but they had my email address and signature on the invoice. I figured the $1477.66 was either what I was supposed to pay or a remainder of what was suppose to be my total that I was suppose to pay. An employee at the store made a transaction that was unauthorized by me. I spoke to someone in customer service Saturday that assured me that a regional manager would contact me the following Monday and they have not. I have left several messages with customer service and HR. I am not calling the branch because I believe the manager there is the one who illegally ran my debit card without my authorization.
7/5/2023 - Additional info provided by the customer:
I went into Tire Discounters to have a set of new tires put on my truck. When my truck was ready for pick up, I was given someone else’s invoice that I paid for. I stated on my invoice that I wanted to keep my old tires. They had over 50% tread left on them and still in great condition. Tire Discounters kept my old tires. I spoke to a regional manager and told him I wanted my old tires back and if they had been disposed of, that I wanted to be compensated for them. The regional manager danced around the question and I still have yet to receive my old tires or a check from Tire Discounters for them. I also have yet to receive my original invoice for the services performed that day.

The customer came into the store to purchase a set of tires, an alignment, and TPMS service kits, and he signed and authorized this to be done for the total amount of $2,077.56. During this service, the technician discovered that an outer tie rod
end needed to be replaced. The store called the customer and got the customer’s
approval to replace the part, making the total amount due $2,368.87.
When
the customer arrived to pick up the vehicle, the store associate pulled up the
incorrect work order and had the customer pay a service ticket that was not
his. Once the customer left, the mistake was discovered and the store attempted
to call the customer leaving several messages for him to call them back to
correct the issue. The customer never returned their call. At this point, the
store received the go-ahead, from our Loss Prevention & Compliance team, to charge the customer
the outstanding amount based on the work order the customer signed when he
dropped the vehicle off.
The customer contacted customer support to request a refund for the second charge on
this card because he was not present to authorize the charge. During the
conversation, he admitted on a recorded line that he knew the store was
contacting him and why but had chosen not to respond. The customer has disputed the charges and TD is going to fight the chargeback as the charges are legitimate. TD will not review this matter any further nor communicate with the customer through the BBB based on the facts of the case. The charges are 100% legitimate and it is our opinion that the customer is trying to avoid paying for authorized services.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below. The store did not call me to let me know that a tie rod needed to be replaced. An employee by the name of Joel came up to me and told me that “ a part “ was needed for them to do a proper alignment. He never said how much the part was exactly, he only told me around 200$ but that it would need to be repaired in the future anyway so I will have to get it replaced eventually. I gave him permission to go ahead and replace the part unaware of the actual price it was. Joel told me about the tie rod after the fact that I had already review the original paperwork so anything that I may have signed when I first came into the store would not have had the total amount on it including the tie rod repair. I may have signed something with the total amount on there but I did not authorize a transaction without knowing the total amount that I owed. The only total amount I authorized was the one given to me by the store employee after my vehicle was ready for pick up which was $891.21
As far as I know the store didn’t attempt to call me. All I received was 3 calls from a private name/number ( which I sent the screen shots of) and I don’t answer private calls. I told the customer service rep on a recorded call that same statement. I was left no messages. The store had other means to contact me and chose not to utilize those resources. They had my email address and my home address. Even if I did sign paper work, I was not presented the paper work when my vehicle was ready for pick up. I was presented by the store employee with a total amount for their services and only paid the amount I was given by the store employee. I sent of screen shot of the 2 transactions I was charged. One I approved and one I didn’t. The only total amount I was ever given at the time my vehicle was finished was $891.21 and that is the only transaction that was approved by me. I did not steal anything so why it was reported to loss prevention is confusing. I simply paid the amount given to me by the store employee. I was given my receipt and handed my keys by the same employee. The employee should be held accountable for his mistake, not me because I made no mistake.
I never admitted on a recorded call that I was aware the store was trying to reach me over the phone. However I did say that I received 3 private calls about an hour after I left the store but I don’t answer private phone calls if I don’t know who is calling me. I would gladly approve that the recorded call be presented as evidence to the BBB for further review if Tire Discounters is willing to release the information.
I stated on the invoice that I was suppose to receive, that I wanted to keep my old tires that were removed and Tire Discounters did not give those to me. They still had 50% tread left on them and were in good shape. I would like Tire Discounters to send me payment for those tires unless they have been discarded. I would also request a copy of my original invoice in the mail so I can get my warranty on my new tires.
The only reason I contacted the BBB was because my phone calls were not being returned by Tire Discounters or Human Resources. I spoke with someone in customer service on Saturday June 24th on a recorded phone call and was told if I needed to add anything to statement to please reach back out to them and they have not returned my calls since. I was also told a regional manager would be contacting me and still haven’t heard from them or anyone from Tire Discounters.

I have made several attempts to reach someone with the corporate office to discuss this matter and my phone calls are not being returned. Human Resources and the Customer Services manager will not return my calls to discuss this matter. A customer services rep has given Tire Discounters false information regarding a recorded phone conversation and I want whom ever that person was held accountable. I still have not received the correct receipt or invoice from Tire Discounters nor have I received my old tires or have been compensated for my old tires if they were discarded. This is not the original invoice that I was suppose to receive. You can see where the separate charge of $1477.66 was placed in my total along with the $891.21 that I was given by the store employee for my total amount due. This was not the original invoice that I was shown before any work was done to my vehicle. You can tell because I got my work done on 6/22/23 and this invoice is dated 6/23/23. They discarded my original invoice and created this one after they realized a mistake had been made. The charge for $239.88 was not included on the original invoice because I approved the part to be installed after I had been waiting on my truck about 2 hours into the service. I circled where I requested to keep my old tires on the invoice.

This company has gone down hill I used to go there for all my tire needs. I took a set of stock ***** *** wheels and was gonna drop them off to have a set of tires I have which r 35/12.50r20.
Now they have mounted these tires before for me and thought they charged 98.00 to just put tires on. I still went there and had tires put on.
How do they have two different prices for things when I went in today the woman gave me work order and it said 197.00. I asked her why she said it was because the tires were so big. Like I said I paid under 100 for the same tires put on wheel.
They seam like they don’t want to do any work or find excuses to make people walk away. Like I said this store used to be a good place to get work done. This was even after there employees broke 4 out of 5 lug nuts on a previous vehicle.
To sum it up the lady never asked the size of the tires was she hoping to pocket some money? Or do they need to train employees to prices? Anyway it goes the tires r the same size as quite a few stock vehicles.Business Response

While we apologize that we have not met the customer's expectations, the scratches claimed on spokes are not consistent with any of our equipment and too high up for machine to touch it. Knick in wheel is not circular from rotation of wheel machine as well. Tire Discounters will not be reviewing or responding any further and we consider the matter closed.Customer Answer

I think I've been taking advantage of and I'm a senior citizen and I think what they've done was wrong and I think they should take responsibility for my damaged rim. I've been a mechanic for 45 years I can tell that they dropped the shoe, that's a tool that you use to Dismount the tire on the lip of the rim and damaged it and I believe when he took it off the balancing machine that he dropped the rim and Tire and scooted it across the floor. Or they damage it with the impact wrench. They should pay for my rim, they have the insurance to cover it instead of trying to beat me out of a damaged rim. They knew they damaged it because they had their tire lube all over it so you couldn't see it until I got home and cleaned it.Business Response

If you look at their reviews at the ********** store you can see how much damage they've done to people's cars and it seems like there's nothing going to be resolved because they keep denying that they did anything wrong thinking about going to the TV stations in Cincinnati to see if they can get an answer about all the damage of all the cars they've done, it's just not mine. They're a million dollar company multi-million dollar company and they refuse to replace my rim. This was a brand new car with a nail in the tire and they damaged the rim, car was 2 weeks old 3 weeks old. I want a new rim.Initial Complaint

Had a recall on tires purchased a few years ago. Took the van to TD on main st in Hamilton where the tires were originally purchased. Tires were changed and an alignment performed. I was not asked about an alignment and would have declined the service. The van was not out of spec but the tech adjusted the alignment regardless. Previous encounters with TD has proven the shops inability to align vehicles properly. A pipe wrench was used to do the adjustments and created marring of the important steering linkages creating future issues if service were needed. The tech also insisted that a brand new wheel bearing was bad. There is in fact a ball joint with mild wear. The tires are not properly balanced. Past experiences have proven TD is incapable of balancing tires. I haven’t had this experience with the shop that services 7 of my vehicles. This is a time consuming effort that would not exist without the poor craftsmanship of TD technicians and management. I expect to be completely compensated for the cost of realignment, rebalance, and lost work time due to TD negligence.Business Response

The customer does not want to give Tire Discounters
the opportunity to fix the alignment and admits that the "damage" to
his tie rods are nothing more than tool marks from the wrench used but wants TD
to pay for another company to replace the tie rods, rebalance the tires, and
realign. Customer further states that we will reimburse his time whether we
like it or not. We have advised the customer that there is no valid damage
claim and that we do not and will not reimburse for any perceived lost time/wages.
Customer proceeded to ask the regional manager to contact his attorney and was
advised that if he wants to go that route, his attorney can contact our legal
department. The customer was beyond rude to the point of hostile both in the
store and on the phone with the regional manager. Unless the customer chooses
to allow a tire rebalance and warranty alignment to be done at a Tire
Discounters location, we will not be reviewing (or responding) any further and
consider this matter closed.Customer Answer

I bought 4 tires from this company on 4.1.2023 and noticed a terrible vibration on 4.7.2023 that had never existed in my truck before. I took the truck to the same shop, and they rebalanced the tires. The problem did not go away. Manager rebalanced tires again and told me I had issues with my wheels and not his tires. Well, the problem never went away!
I bought new wheels thinking the problem would be solved only to be confirmed by the new shop that sold me the wheels that the tires were defective. I went back to original shop where I bought the tires only to be told that I needed to have a road force test done on the tires at their performance shop, which I did on 5.15.2023 only to learn that 3 of 4 tires are bad!
I went to the shop on 5.18.2023 to see about a tire swap under warranty only to be told I have to wait 1-2 days for the manager to learn about what to do in this situation. I called the corporate office in Cincinnati on 5.19.2023 during their business hours repeatedly only to be greeted with an answering service every time!
I need tires swapped out due to safety concerns and the matter of not having defective tires on my truck!Business Response
