Vehicle was damaged. Store manager admitted it should not have happened. Corporate is denying responsibility. This seems to be the norm for this company based on reviews. Beware!

While we apologize that we did not meet the
customer's expectations, our position has not changed - we spoke with customer
who states that the steering wheel was scratched during vehicle alignment. We
looked at the pictures and these scratches look like it has weathered, possible
sun exposure, normal wear and tear. The claimed damage is located across the
top of the steering wheel, but the alignment holder only touches the bottom of
the steering wheel. Tire Discounters is denying the claim and will not be reviewing
any further and considers this matter closed.

Friday May 12th I got my tires rotated and balanced on my **** ***** *****. It was in the afternoon and I had other errands to run so didn’t think I needed to LOOK FOR DAMAGE. 2 Days later along the frame of the car I notice damage on the car on the drivers side behind the front tire along the frame. I called the store that rotated the tires they set up an inspection for today Wednesday May 17th at a completely different location. Ofcourse you already know with me typing this complete denial the manager said this is a 4 billion dollar company which I dunno what that has to do with DAMAGING MY CAR. Ofcourse the typical excuses why didnt you notice it for 2 Days all that BS your car has rust in the spot, Id expect an 11 year old car to have rust. Once a patch of bare metal becomes oxidized (rusts), the rust can spread to other areas of the car underneath the paint where you can't see it. Something the genius manager obviously doesn’t know. So now im here typing this. A simple search of hoist lifting damage will bring up tons of similiar stories. I want the damage fixed or compensated for the damage! Im a disabled veteran with ptsd and this just adds more stress to the stress I already have! I forgot to mention the rotation and balance was free for purchasing a set of 4 new tires so I didn’t have to pay for the balance and rotation when this damage occured.

Is was in March 2023 when they started work on my work truck, I filled a complaint with BBB but nothing was done by the company, my truck has been back in shop 5 times in a month, they replaced my brakes ,wheel bearing, rotors, struts, control arm, ball joints, had my truck for 2 days and when it was finally given back I broke down on way to work brakes were rubbing metal, took it another one of there stores close where I wad at the time and they fixed that and did front allinment that the original store was supposed to do but didnt, then a couple days later driving pulling my work trailer the lug nuts came off and had to go to another store close by to get that fixed and they told me I needed a control arm which I was charged for at original store but never did the work but the other store fixed that also, few days later my front brakes got locked up from brake calibers which were replaced at original store but according to this store they were not done correctly and had to put new brake pads and rotors again, after all of that was done the front end started rattling making lots of noise so they sent me to another store and they said my sway bar was needed replaced which should have been done originally because they were hitting it with a sledgehammer to get a bolt off,all together I have lost 6 days of work and feel like my life was put in danger because of there negligence they even told me the mechanics that did the work was the worst mechanics the had and need to replace him,all I ask for was to give me back what I paid in labor, they called me his name is Mike and he is the regional manager, I have had to call him 3 times and he hasn't resolved it yet last time we spoke he said he was waiting on upper management for a answer and would call me back next day that was 2 weeks ago still not heard from anyone

On April 24, 2023 I spoke with a Edward H*** at this establishment to order tires for my son. He took the tire I wanted and placed it in his computer and gave me an appointment for my son for the next day on the 25. When my son arrived. Ed told my son that the computers were down, so he couldn't bring up the tires I ordered. He wound up selling my son more expensive tires and added a warranty I didn't ask for. So instead of costing me 450 dollars, it came to 643 dollars. This is unacceptable and is on the vege of committing a crime because he took advantage of my son.

On 1/26/23 I went to Tire Discounters on 96th street for a tire repair and they damaged the power running board on the passenger side. They tried to say at first it was a coincidence that the power running board stopped working. Instead of using the lift they used a floor jack on the passenger side. They opened the door which made the power running board extend out hitting the jack handle. Damaging the power running board. I had to pay $2700.00 for repairs to the passenger side running board. The Manager originally said it was a module which was not the case. Attached is a detailed description of the events.

Again, they damaged the power running board on the passenger side.  As they did from the beginning, call it a coincidence.  They are not taking nor di they plan on taking responsibility for the damage.  It appears they say the same phrase for about every complaint.  We are sorry we did not meet your expectations. The entire experience should have been on video if they retain the tapes.  Three different upper management people emailed or called but never enquired as to what happened knowing they could have watched the store videotapes.

I had a previous problem with tire discounters and their management. I purchased 4 brand new tires in 2021 that came with a warranty. The front passenger tire was a problem from the start, it took weeks and the district manager getting involved to resolve the issue. Although, we have had proper maintenance done (tire rotation, alignment, etc) the front passenger tire is completely bald. I spoke with the manger of the location we purchased the tires who initially said we are likely out of luck because “they have nothing on file” (our work was done at the dealership). He offered to see the car on Monday - but has no notes this tire was an issue. I asked to speak directly to the district manager who helped the last time and he refused. This is absolutely ridiculous customer service.

      Dear Tire Discounters,
On 18th of April, I tried your services for the first time ever. My car was fine, it was not making any vibrations or noises. I had my tires balanced and alignment done because I had planned to trip to *** ****** ** a few days later. Roughly 900 miles.
(18th April) Hyundai serviced for tire balance & alignment. Drove car home and noticed a loud noise coming from tires. Did not have time to go back to the shop, so went on the trip anyways. Because I had postponed it once before and it takes 6 weeks to get into this specialist (doctor).
All the way to *** ***** and back to ******** ** I thought the wheels are going to fall off, we wondered (my fiance) and I if they had not tightened the lug nuts and started googling what would be the source of all the noise and the alignment was still off. And, we measured the wheels vertical slant and all were different and one had no slant at all. (back right)
(21st April) Hyundai serviced 2nd time - I was not concerned at first. They said a tire was out of balance and alignment had needed to be adjusted. So, they did that. Now, the problems are even worse...more leaning and more noise
(25th April) Hyundai serviced 3rd time. Now, I'm frustrated because they are saying something is wrong with the car and it's too old to hold alignment. Now a different noise and car veers easily off a straight course. (no effective alignment at all and the noise!)
(26th April) Hyundai serviced 4th time. Ok, so they align it again and said they adjusted it better. Still veers off straight path. (not aligned) still makes all the road noise. I am still told, my car is too old to hold alignment.
It has new tires on it, (less than 4 months old), it has less than 70K miles on it, it's a top of the line ******* ***** ** ***** with the tow package...so it can't be that there too much weight on it. It has new brakes and shocks (all done last Fall or within last 6 months) It has never been in an accident.

      Business Response

      Date: 05/15/2023

Our apologies that we did not meet your expectations. Tire Discounters has issued a refund to your for the alignment since we were unable to get the problem corrected. Whatever issue(s) is going on, it appears from your comments that Hyundai is unable to resolve as well.  Tire Discounters is not at fault because we are unable to resolve the alignment issue, we did nothing to cause the issue.  Tire Discounters will not be reviewing this matter any further and considers the matter closed.

      * 4/3/23 I had a new set of tires put on my car prior to leaving for *******
      * Upon my arrival to ******* I noticed my ****** cap was missing from the front wheel
      * 4/7/23 when I noticed it was missing I contacted Victor B****** at Tire Discounters. He looked and said they didn't have it there. I explained it was on there when I brought the car in and would like it replaced. He had me send photos of the part and said he would order one for me.
      * 4/27/23 after not receiving the part or a call regarding the part I contacted Victor again and was told the part was not there yet.
      * 4/27/23 I contacted the ****** Dealership across the street from Tire Discounters and they had the part there for $37. I advised Victor of that and he said they couldn't purchase it from a dealership (Not sure why as no details were given), which seemed odd to me.
He also told me they won't ship the part to me (I live in ******* now) so I asked how I would get it and received no response.
      * Some of this conversation was via phone while other was via text message.
I saved the contact days and texts.
      * Also, a couple of the rims are my car we're also damaged during the tire installation....they had been so dirty from the tire installation (white stuff on them) so I hadn't noticed until I had time to clean them up.

I bought a set of tires for my daughters car (invoice attached). The vehicle had just been serviced by Toyota of ********* and they recommended new tires. After looking myself, we agreed she needed new tires before driving to *******. Tire Discounters installed the new tires. I had replaced the brake pads and rotors approximately 8-9 months earlier. There were not issues with the brakes when we left the car for tire install. After getting new tires, she drove to *******. She reports noticing a shimmy when she was on the trip but not knowing better assumed it was something with the tires being new. Over the next three weeks the shaking became worse. I drove the vehicle and noticed a dangerous shimmy when braking. I assumed the issue was tire balance so I took the car back to the store on 4/27/23 where they stated the tires were out of balance and I “probably hit something on the back roads and knocked the weights off”. I left the store and the problem was not better, maybe worse. I decided it had to be the front brakes. I spent $200 on new brake pads and rotors despite the ones on the car only being 8-9 months old. This fixed the issue. However, I noticed that the lug nuts were extremely tight when I tried to remove them to inspect the brakes. Their invoice has employee numbers that say they were torqued and witnessed but it does not show how many foot pounds were used. It literally took all my strength with a 4-way tire tool to break the rear lug nuts loose. I believe Tire Discounters over tightened my lug nuts and warped the rotors costing me an additional $200 (receipt attached). After speaking with numerous other people who report poor experiences, I filed an online complaint with Tire Discounters on 4/28/23 requesting to be contacted by someone with managerial authority over the ********* store. As of the filing of this BBB complaint no one has contacted me via email or telephone. I would like for them to acknowledge fault and reimburse for the brake supplies.

Received a call from Regional manager Scott on 05/05/23. He was very nice and personable but dismissed my complaint as if I did not know what is was talking about. He recommended I return the perfectly good rotors to the automotive store and seemed to reject the notion that the excessive torque could have caused the damage. I take offense to the dismissal of this as this is the only logical explanation of why the rotors should require replacement after being fine until approx 1 month after getting new tires installed. No one had touched the vehicle between tire install and my having Tire Discounters inspect the balance on 03/06. Shortly after returning home from the store on the 6th, the front lugs were not overly tight, but the rear lugs where almost too tight to remove with a 4-way tire tool. Having just left the store, based on the nature of my reason for visit, it is not surprising the lugs were properly torqued by the time I discovered the issue.

I have several issues with this location. 1st issue. I took my truck in for some front end suspension work. I went and picked it up and drove it home. I took my kid to school the next morning, when I pulled into the school my tire was about to come off the truck. I took it back in for diagnosis and they state and bolt was not secure enough and caused the suspensions to the wheel to almost come apart. They had my truck for a few days because they couldn't find the bolt anywhere. I ordered it online and when my truck was complete and I picked it up. My truck had been driven 53 miles and my battery was dead. My TPMS sensor stopped working after they changed my tires. They stated it will cost me $100 to fix it. I ended up having to pay for the bolt and a new battery. 2nd issue. Recently I just had my oil changed here and my truck started making rattling noises. They said I had a skid plate bolt missing. I have never had this issue until they changed my oil. I took it by recently so they could put the bolt on like they stated. *** the manager said he couldn't pull a technician away to do this but he pulled a technician off his job to help a lady in front of me with no appointment. 3rd issue. Last year I had my wives car towed to troubleshoot an electrical problem. They said they would work on it at the appointment time. It took them 2 days to look at it and then called and said the battery was dead that they couldn't work on it. They had never started any work. 4th issue. I got new tires for my truck and drove it for about a week and noticed there was a hug bulge where the tire meets the wheel. I took it in for them to look at. *** the manager said he had never seen anything like it. I had purchased a warranty that covers defects and road hazard. They ended up charging me $75. My experience has ended up causing more money than it should have not including how much time is worth.I want to be refunded for all of the work I have spent here.

Our position has not changed:  "Customer refused to allow store to repair vehicle and instead wants to take vehicle to a 3rd party to repair and for TD to pay bill. We informed the customer that if it's a repair TD can perform, we will do so and we will not pay for a third party to repair. This decision will not change."
