Today should have been a great day and sadly didn’t end that way. My husband and I saved and saved and finally felt ready to buy a new car for our family. We went to the dealership, selected a safe family vehicle. Upon doing paperwork, we realized the website for Nationwide couldn’t find our type of car and didn’t recognize the vin. Car is new. We called our local agent we have policies with and got nothing, radio silence. We sat in the dealership and continued to reach out to nationwide. We called the home office to be told they couldn’t help us. I left countless messages pleading for them to call us. We were ready to bring our new car home today!! The sales team leader we worked with called and the sales manager heard our issue and she tried to call and none of us got anywhere for hours!! Eventually we left without our new car… Two hours later a secretary called from nationwide and yelled at me for not calling the correct phone number. We called every number listed on their website, nationwide’s website and any numbers on our actual paper policy. Not anywhere I searched did we find the number we were called from and yelled at from. I didn’t appreciate being yelled at and not having access to an agent. We are in the age where every one has a cell phone!! We should have access to an agent night and day to help with claims. What if we had a true emergency, obviously no one would be there to assist us!! Certainly not our insurance agent. We are completely dissatisfied and wouldn’t recommend them to our worst enemies. Do better Nationwide or you won’t have any customers!!Nationwide

I wouldn’t recommend homeowners insurance to these people. My husband needs a brand new roof and has been with nationwide for a while now and instead of helping him with a new roof that he needs they want to send him a check for repairs. He pays nationwide for insurance for stuff like this. I don’t know how they’re still in business?! I don’t understand how they have an A+ rating through the Better Business Bureau?! But, they are definitely not on your side. They would rather pay money overtime to patch and fix to do repairs on the roof then actually put a roof on which would be cheaper in the long run. But no, they got to be a greedy and dumb about it. This is what homeowners insurance is for. Things happen things break down over time, so what’s the point of paying for an insurance company? That’s not even willing to help? Definitely going to be looking for a new insurance. I really hope the whole business just goes bankrupt. And those people can’t find another job because they’re too greedy. They really do suck.Nationwide

1 starCurrently, we have our dog insured with Nationwide. Initially, we believed that having insurance would assist in covering some of the expenses, but unfortunately, our expectations were far from reality. This particular organization employs a wide array of tactics to avoid fulfilling their obligations. Their customer service and billing departments are utterly inept, leaving everyone clueless about the situation at hand. We dutifully submitted claims as per their policy, expecting a response within 60 days. However, over 90 days have elapsed, and we still haven't received any resolution or communication from them. There are other superior insurance companies available, and I deeply regret not conducting thorough research to explore other options. It is my hope that sharing this experience will spare others from enduring the same frustrating ordeal.Review fromKelsey B

1 starI have them for my pet insurance and home insurance. My dog has been diagnosed with cancer and getting reimbursement for her treatments has been terrible! They requested medical records and I sent them all in the next day. It has been 3 weeks and I still have no reimbursement and no communication. My dog needs radiation weekly and I have been maxing out credit cards paying out of pocket because they have yet to reimburse. The whole point of pet insurance is to be protected and supported should a terrible situation like your dog get cancer. Instead they are taking their time, and I am sure, looking for every reason to not provide reimbursement. Let's hope if something happens with my home it is not a similiar situaiton. It is incredibly hard to cancel a home policy that you don't need. Nationwide makes it unnecessarily difficult to cancel through their representatives or online, and their agents hangs up on the call as soon as they hear your request. This is no way to do business and I will be canceling all my policies with them to go with ***** *****.Nationwide

Nationwide is NOT on your side. Their Pet insurance policy is a complete fraudulent scam. They take advantage of consumers heartstrings about their pets health and wellbeing while robbing your wallet. I have read dozens of reviews where people have had the same experience. I feel they should be formally reported to the consumer better business bureau and a class action lawsuit should be brought against them.Nationwide

I wish I could write a zero star review. Our home was damaged by hail, destroying windows and thus damaging our basement. We filed our claim immediately and it took them several days to even assign an adjuster. Once they finally assigned an adjuster-- he shared their intention do deny our claim, without having even coming to our property to assess the damage. He invited me to call with any questions and then did not answer after multiple attempts to make contact with him, he has yet to respond. Upon reviewing our policy, on page 18 it states that they ensure direct physical loss to the property caused by windstorm or hail and on page 14 it states that they cover the breakage of glass which is part of a covered building. Despite all of this extremely obvious and expensive coverage, it appears that Nationwide will not cover us for this damage, because they do not care about helping, they care about collecting our premiums. *DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY* They are fantastic at collecting money and will refuse to help you during the most stressful time of your life. A 1.15 star rating is too high. Again, I cannot stress enough how much you should avoid this company.Nationwide

Terrible! Horrible, 2weeks still waiting. Their policy holder hit my parked car and the local office doesn't do any thing (****** **) they hang up on me. The adjuster they assigned says on her voice mail she doesn't monitor her mail box. *********** would have had this wrapped up fully in a weeks time.Nationwide

Nationwide is not on your side. I applied for insurance and was not told a specific date that my insurance would be opened. I received emails alowing me to set up my online account, opt in for paper free notices, and an email that said if additional information would be needed that they would reach out within 3 business days. They didn't need additional information and I continued with my next appointment 4 weeks after applying. They rejected all of my claims to avoid any responsibility for payment and spit out their regular/vague/unhelpful script when I called. Seems like I threw my money away getting insurance for them to waste paper and send rejection letters in the mail even though I opted for electronic communication. I do want to be contacted and I do want my claim counted toward deductible. Without being told a definitive date, it is highly unreasonable to think that insurance wouldn't be in place 4 weeks after applying. Also the representative is ******.Nationwide

Nationwide twice has billed my auto policy incorrectly. Furthermore, they restrict access to documents requiring electronic notification. I am not authorized by Nationwide to download a PDF file of bills, so I cannot attach them for this complaint. The company makes it difficult to access documents. What the amount billed is often inconsistent with account information on the website.
1. I was billed for three autos even though I had removed one from the policy.
2. I was billed for the auto policy even though it had been cancelled.
It is difficult and time consuming to have to check in behind Nationwide to see that they have billed correctly. When I try to contact them by phone, they automatically forward me to my agent.Nationwide
