We were affected by the windstorm in Louisville on March 3rd which blew the roof off our detached garage. We filed our homeowners insurance claim and were told by our project consultant (James) that he would represent us in dealing with the insurance company to get repairs done. He was adamant that we needed building cod coverage to get this done which is false per our insurance company. Our insurance adjuster told us twice that we had the green light and payment was sent to get the work done. We were told by James again that we needed this coverage so he could “fight” for us to make sure the work was done and correctly. He proceeded to quote us to do the job for cash out of pocket for $7500 but with “discounts” it came down to 5800. How does it cost almost 6 grand to install rolled roof on a 450 sq ft garage? Please beware that they will not fight for you but will tell you the insurance company isn’t playing ball with them and quite you a cash deal instead. Taking advantage of people during a time of need after a storm. If James comes to quote your job have fun for a nice ride.

Hi Sebastian, I'm sorry to hear you had a negative experience with us. Unfortunately, your insurance policy does not provide coverage for building code upgrades. The current structure may have been within building code requirements at the time of install, but it doesn’t meet current requirements, nor does it meet the requirements of the material manufacturer. While Mr Roof was tearing shingles off my roof, they noticed all of the decking was rotted because of lack of ventilation. I then asked them to replace all the decking and they still completed the full job in a day. They also discovered a leak entry point and did the repair. The team did a great job with the installation and clean up. Their sales Rep was very good explaining all the different options and wasn’t pushy allowing me to take a few weeks to make my decision. I’ve been working with Victor H. of Mr. Roof for the last few weeks in regards to a roof replacement as well as some additional repairs. I just wanted to express my appreciation for how awesome this experience has been because of Victor. His professionalism, hard work, effort, communication and knowledge have been top tier and has made this considerably easier and less stressful than I had imagined! I know I can be a difficult customer at times and require more time than others but Victor has done an amazing job and I would recommend him to any and all! I’ve heard of Mr. Roof in the past, I’ve seen their trucks, yard signs and crews. I’ve never heard anything negative about the company or workmanship. I used to roof, but being older and less active my 2 layer tear off was out of my league and I don’t have the time to do it myself. My friend recommended Mr. Roof so I had them come give me an estimate. More reasonable than I had expected. They came a couple days prior and removed the snow and ice off the roof. And showed up on time on the day agreed upon. They protected my porch, yard, A/C unit, windows and were aware of cleanliness throughout. 2 layers were tore off and the new roof was installed the same day. Very professional. I hired Able Roof in August 2022 based on a recommendation from my parents who had their entire roof and gutters replaced by Able Roof. They had a great experience and highly recommended the company. I hired Able to replace two gutters with 6-inch gutters, two downspouts, one piece of fascia, and a 7 foot piece of soffit on the backside of my house. What was supposed to be a half day job turned into a horrible project experience which was not fully completed for 3 months.
Once the crew was finished with their work after about 4-5 hours, they left the house without notifying me that they were finished. I went out into the yard and found the following: a seven foot piece of soffit with rusty nails sticking out of it in the flower bed in the backyard, numerous pieces of cut downspout, sharp pieces of cut metal from the new and old gutters, metal shavings on the deck and on both roofs (upper and lower), between 60 and 70 rusty and new sheet metal screws, nails, and other sharp objects in the grass in both the front and backyard.
It took me approximately 4-5 hours of walking around the yard over 4 days time with a magnetic wand to collect all of the sharp metal objects left in the grass. As a comparison, my next-door neighbor had his entire roof and gutters replaced while my 3-month experience with Able was occurring, and he found 4 total nails/screws in his yard after the company had completed their work. I also had to get onto the roof with a Shop Vac to clean up the metal shavings, sheet metal screws, and other debris which was left on both roofs. The third party gutter crew also damaged my lower roof (appox. 20 gashes in the rolled shingle) which needed to be fixed.
The workmanship, attention to detail, and overall quality performed by the Able Roof gutter crew was terrible. They were so sloppy and lackadaisical that they left their empty soda cans in the yard, ridiculous.
