I paid this business $4,000. They were supposed o tear down 3 pony walls, install flooring in a 750 sq ft area and install a new bathroom. They estimated the entire project to be complete in a week or two at most. They had been working for a week when *****, the owner called me and told me that they were COMPLETELY finished and he needed paid. I sent him money via Venmo as I was at work and could not leave. When I went to the property- the flooring was not even finished and what was installed had glue all over and was sticking up in many places. He assured me that they were coming back, but did not show up for weeks and that was after I posted on social media that he took my money, had done shoddy work and was not coming back to fix or finish it. Following the social media post, he came to the property with another man, and was raising his voice to me about the post. He told me I was hurting his business. I felt very intimidated and removed the post. When he finally did finish the floors (I say that loosely because they were not finished) Many of the edges around the walls were not even installed. I paid $4,000 for floors that I am going to have to pay someone else to replace and I am the one who paid for the flooring itself despite my paying him a deposit. I caught him in several mistruths during the process and he did not install the bathroom. I just hoping that I can get my money back because it was not a good experience, I was over charged and the work done is sub par at best.Business Response

When the client reached out to me I gave her an estimate for the floor in which she agreed on then she wanted to add a bathroom to be added along with other things to be done in both houses. I told her that we can take care of that for her. When we came to install the floor we did remove three pony walls. We cleaned the floor up and I told the client that we would need to place glue on the floor because the flooring that she wanted us to use would not stick to the concrete floor. At which time we had half the floor done but we were waiting on the dumpster to get delivered to the property in order to remove all the debris from the demolition work that we had to do. The client was on vacation at which point in time. I caught her and let her know that we had half the floor done and once we get the dumpster delivered, the remaining floor will be delivered as promise. Once the dumpster came, we put in all the debris in the dumpster, which at that time she thought that we were scamming her because the dumpster was not delivered yet, but finally the dumpster did come, and we went ahead and finished the floor up. There were some areas left because at this time she had other contractors in there, painting the walls and doing other things and had material in areas where the floor needs to be late. I asked the client before we left if she had any problems with anything that we have done just to give us a call and will be more than happy to come back and fix anything. We did not hear from her at all about coming back and repairing or fixing anything.
when she called me, I was driving and I wasn’t able to answer the phone and by the time I got to my destination, I got busy doing other things and didn’t get a chance to return your call. She then went on social media Facebook posting that we’re out here stealing money robbing her And not doing the job. I then receive several calls from concern people bringing it to my attention that she had made the post. At which point in time I was already in the process heading to the property to finish up the floor as promise. Within about 15 minutes, I received over 20 calls in reference to the post that she had made. When we got to the property, I walked in Not yelling, not raising my voice or anything. By no means was I intimidating her we proceeded to finish out the floor at which time my phone just continued To ring or getting text messages coming in about the post. I then brought it to the client’s attention that my phone is just constantly ringing because of the post she said that she will go in there and updated that we are here on the job. At which point in time that did not help the issue my phone just continue on ringing nonstop distracting me from finishing the job. Finally, I talk to her again and she finally decided on her own free will to delete the post so we can finish the job out. I even reassured her that if there’s any issues with the floor that we will take care of it still till this day I’m not yet heard anything about taking care of the floor.

I am rejecting this response because: I was overcharged by means of deception for the work that was completed and the quality of work is subpar. I would like a refund of at least half of the amount I was charged. This business is profiting from an A plus BBB score when they have had several similar complaints that provide a history of deceptive and unprofessional business practices.
Sincerely,
******* ***Initial Complaint

I hired ***** from *********** builders to renovate a small apartment. The scheduled start time was first week of May 2024. ***** took half down which was $2,500. ***** removed two walls in the first month and advised he will have the project down in two weeks. **** came and gone. Not completed. July I called him several times to see what the issue was he stated he was on his way there to work. Or Ill have someone out but nothing was done. ****** came and went and I got tired of waiting I told him I needed my money in return to hire another Contracter. We are in October and I still am in the same whole. ***** never finished the project and never make the situation right and Im still out money and an empty place I need complete to rent out.I also hired him back in April 2024 when I told him of a property I owned that was leaking. He stated he works on roofs as well. He quoted to repair and replace the valleys as well as any cracks or areas that could be caulked he would take care of. He called when he was finished and stated he finished the roof and that I shouldnt have any leaks. Well the next rain storm my tenant called stating it was leaking again. I called ***** and he went back and attempted to caulk he stated newer leaks but any time it rained my tenants told me it was leaking. I finally told ***** stop going over there because obviously didnt have the knowledge or proper equipment to handle the job he stated he could do. I just recently hired a new roofing company to repair the roof just after last weeks rain storms.Business Response

I have already agreed to refund the deposit that they have given us. They shall have the refund within two weeks.
When the job was suppose to start the weather turned out to be raining and could not get to take care of the client. Then at which time I fell sick and could not start the job after talking to them they then decided that the scope of the work have changed. I also informed the husband that I am currently on a project that I have to finish up and as soon as that project is finished up I will be able to have their project taken care. A couple days later I received a call from his wife stating that they would like a refund instead. Which I do not have any problems with refunding their money. Turn around time with a refund is about two weeks.
