Signed contract with company for new roof. I had 3 business days to cancel. Did so by phone and certified letter. Company has been called several times since about refunding the down payment and to no avail have they returned my money. I have filed fraud charges with the credit card company to recoup my money. So back in January we sign a contract with Errie Homes to get a new roof put on. They promised wonderful products 30 year warranty. Inspected the roof took tons of pictures. Went back-and-forth on the service contract was signed. then they request $8000 upfront in cash we pay with the contract stating a balance of 8500 at the end of install **** calls saying that he’s not doing the porch they’re not doing the facia which that wasn’t agreed-upon. It was all included on the contract, so ***** had to call and do an amendment to the contract so at that point **** already was not going to do the roof and knew what they were doing, but needed my money, so once we did them they collected the $8000 stating they were doing the porch they were doing the facia today is April 11 we are supposed to have materials delivered today last night on April 10 at 9 o’clock at night. I get a call from **** stating he’s not going to do the install. They are canceling my contract. Supposedly the structure is unsafe. Mind you they’ve already done two inspections of this roof. they are canceling one week from we are due for 19 April last minute notice hung high and dry with no roof from my house in their contract. It states they are supposed to give 30 day notice not a week prior so they are in breach of contract, in my opinion, **** didn’t want to do the job in the first place. They ripped us off of $8000 and now I have no roof. I am seeking reimbursement of my $8000 and compensation to find a contractor to do my roof at the last minute .Business Response

Erie Home apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused. Erie Home reviewed the project and deemed that it has structural defects.Per the signed contract "In the event that Contractor determines that this Agreement cannot be performed as intended by the parties due, for example, to incorrect pricing, unforeseen structural defects, or pre-existing conditions to Buyer’s property, Contractor may cancel this Agreement within thirty (30) days of its execution, notify Buyer(s) of such cancellation in writing, and return all money paid by Buyer(s)." Erie Home did reach out and canceled the job within the 30 days. Erie Home has also refunded the down payment.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
We signed a contract months prior they took over 30 pictures inspected the house twice prior to the install date. The day material was to be delivered is when they called me at 10 o’clock at night talking about they are going to cancel us contract states 30 days prior not the day of, we were to be installed this Friday on the 19th. We were actually contacted last Friday which is one week from install. They breached their contract. They had plenty of time to let me know prior that they weren’t going to do my roof as per their contract, they stated they had 30 days Before to cancel, not the day of materials were being delivered . This is unprofessional business behavior. We waited months for this roof. It was not any way shape or form smooth there was issue after issue when it came to them what was promised, was not stated correctly in the contract the first time to me the contractor didn’t want to do the job because it was priced at 16,000 plain and simple, I’ve had two contractors come out and look at the roof and both said that the structure is fine Yes, the roof is damaged. That’s why we are replacing it. That’s the purpose of a roof replacement. Errie Homes breached their contract.
Sincerely,
******* ****Business Response

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:
There are no structural defects we have had 2 contractors look at it and they both said Errie is crazy there are no defects just worn that’s why it needs to be replaced this was the purpose of your service contractor stated you guys just didn’t want to do the job because it was discounted from 25k to 16k and **** didn’t want to do it for that cheap so u guys breach the contract days before installation not within you supposed 30 days.
Sincerely,

I requested information from Erie Metal Roofing 2 years ago. I decided against even having a consultation with them after reading reviews. They called multiple times that first week to set an appointment, I called them to tell them I decided to go in a different direction. I asked that they remove me from their call list. I continue to receive calls consistently over the past 2 years despite having told them multiple times that I already had my roof done by another company, and then "confirming" that they would remove me from the list.
They call daily, always 2 times in a row and always from a different number so I can't even block them on my end.Business Response

I went online and found this company and when this company came out to my home, they decided they would do a partial ridge cap. They got me approved for a loan and then I got a call from them saying they can't do the roof anymore. They no longer offer partial roofs due to a new company policy. They ran my credit and my credit took a hit for this loan and now I can't get my roof fixed.Business Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
I have had someone else make the repairs. Not really satisfied with the answer, but what's a little guy Like me supposed to do against a large company like this. I believe a little compensation would be in order to make up the time I lost waiting on them and the time I had to spend on looking for someone else to do the job. I will however NOT recommend them to anybody and tell anyone looking for them to do work for them to look for someone else.

I called Erie to get an estimate for roof repair. On March 14th they sent a team of 2 employees to my house. One of the men went into the attic. He stepped through the attic floor and made a huge hole in my kitchen ceiling. They also damaged 2 recessed lights. Erie claimed the company would fix the damage with no problem. They did not. I have called multiple times with no one accepting responsibility. I was forced to pay $1200 for the repairs. I have pictures of the truck and license plate of the employee who damaged my home. I want this company to refund my the cost of repairing my kitchen ceiling.Business Response

On March 16th an Erie representative (****** ***) came to my home to give me an estimate on a new roof. He said that he needed to access my attic to see the underside of my current roof. He immediately stepped onto the bare insulation above the sheetrock (rather than on the floor joists) and broke through the sheetrock into the rooms below. He called his supervisor (********* ****) who indicated that he would have someone contact me that day about having the damage repaired. That has been nearly three weeks ago. Mr. **** never contacted me and I have had to call him each time to see if a claim had been filed yet. I had a contractor come and give me an estimate for repairing the damage and have submitted that to Erie and they just told me i need to get them 3 estimates. I do not have time to meet three contractors in addition to taking a day or two off to be present for the eventual repairs. I have requested that they just send an adjuster from their insurance company but i have not heard from anyone associated with their insurance either. I have a signed statement form their sales rep stating what he did to my home. I'd like for Erie to stand behind the damages that they have inflicted on my home.Business Response

During our four hour sales pitch, we were told specifically to never hire an LLC or “storm chaser” for roofing needs because they can install your roof and you’ll never hear from them again.
What we’ve come to find out is that Erie Home is no different, except you pay double the price.
We were sold a “top quality” roof and even better customer service + warranty. We’ve received none of those things.
After we realized that we were ignorant enough to be scammed, we accepted it, but also knew that legally, we were sold a warranty that would hopefully cover the roof over the next decade until it was time to book a new company to replace it.
Our $26,000 roof was installed in December. After scheduling the install, the contractor no-showed, there was barely any communication, until they showed up unannounced on a Sunday at 7:00 am demanding that we move our vehicle.
After 3 months, our shingles are already falling off. We contacted Erie to get someone out to repair the shingles.
Timeline of communication:
Initial call was made to Erie on 2/26
I was contacted the same day by a contractor who scheduled to come to our house on 2/23 before noon. I stayed home from work to be available on 2/23.
The contractor texted on 2/23 to reschedule for 2/26. Again, I stayed home from work to be available. He never showed.
I contacted Erie again on 3/11 to try and resolve the matter.
The same contractor texted me on 3/11 and stated he would be out to my house that same week. He never contacted me and he never showed. I’ve received no contact from him since.
On 3/20, I contacted Erie again to get someone out to resolve the shingles.
The rep said he would contact a different contractor to come to our house to get this matter taken care of, and we will receive a call early the next day. I’ve not been contacted since.
My best advice: Document everything. Find a good construction attorney.

On February 15th 2024 we entered into a contract with Erie Construction for a roof replacement and gave a $2,500.00 deposit. On February 18th 2024 (within the 3 day cancellation period) I dropped off a letter to Erie Construction at their ******* address and sent a telegraph to the home office in **** cancelling the project. The evening of February 18th 2024 *********************** came to our house and gave us a cancellation agreement, which we both signed. The agreement stated we would receive a refund of our deposit within two weeks. On March 6th 2024 I called **** to inquire about the refund we had not received. He stated that he processed it the same night we signed the cancellation agreement. As of this date, March 14th 2024 we still have not received the refund.Business Response
