Safelite came to my apartment at 9:15am on 10/23/24 to replace a broken windshield through my insurance. When the tech arrived, I gave him my keys and he said he would let me know if he needed anything. My apartment window sits directly above my car and I kept checking to see how he was progressing. After being on his phone, the tech (******) was struggling to do something but I wasnt sure what. He walked up to my hood, pulling up and I wasnt sure why. Then I saw him yanking on the hood lever multiple times and then going back to the hood. I was really confused because I didnt know they open the hood to do window replacements, and then he called me. He said Im unable to get your hood open. I told him I didnt realize you even had to open the hood? Its confusing to open and I can come down and help. And he said okay. I went down to grab the lever and show him how to do it but noticed the lever had been pulled out of the side of the of the car. It was now sticking halfway out and it was Not like that before. I told him it is broken and was not broken before. He said it was like that when I grabbed it. I said no it wasnt, the last time it was touched is when I got an oil changed and I myself opened it at ********* (dont have to exit the vehicle). I can also see the hood lever so I wouldve noticed it was damaged. He stated well if I cant open the hood, I cant do the windshield implying that now I also have to pay for the hood lever HE damaged before I can also pay for the windshield that was damaged. So instead of him showing up to replace it, he left me with more expenses. I reported this to Safelite and to the manager. They did an investigation for 8 days and then called me stating our tech said he didnt do it. So we arent doing warranty practically implying that I lied about him damaging my property. (Did it take them 8 days to believe him?) and now I cant get my windshield changed and they wont pay for the damage to my property.
