Pattern of Complaints

On October 01, 2020, Better Business Bureau recognized a pattern of complaints from consumers regarding appliance repairs and customer service issues. Consumers allege they hired Kevin Whiting who claimed to be operating a business under the name of Eugene Appliance to repair appliances within their homes. Customers report they would later discover the appliance repairs were not done correctly. Customers claim they have attempted to contact Kevin Whiting to have the repairs corrected, but he is unresponsive to their concerns regarding correcting the repairs, parts delivery, and refunds for services that were not provided.

The following consumer warning appears on the Oregon Construction Contractors Board website in the Buyer Beware category;

“Known to do business in Lane, Linn, Deschutes, Benton and surrounding counties. Kevin Whiting is known to do business as Apex Appliance Repair, Premier Appliance and Refrigeration, and Willamette Appliance Service. Whiting performs extremely dangerous electrical installations that he is not qualified to perform. Whiting will collect the money upfront, start the job, then claim he needs to order parts. He abandons the job. The majority of his work results in complaints for substandard work. Kevin Whiting is a habitual offender.”

On October 01, 2020 and October 20, 2020, Better Business Bureau reached out to Kevin Whiting for a response to the customer complaints; the mail was returned as undeliverable.

Better Business Bureau would like to remind consumers to verify the licensing of  contractors they wish to hire to perform electrical, plumbing, building improvements, and appliance repair. This information can be found at https://www.oregon.gov/ccb/Pages/index.aspx.

Consumers can file complaints with Better Business Bureau at www.bbb.org and with the Oregon Construction Contractors Board at https://www.oregon.gov/ccb/Pages/index.aspx.
