On March 16, 2017, BBB received notice from a consumer who had been approached by White Mountain Holdings to act as an agent and escrow company in the sale of their timeshare. White Mountain Holdings allegedly stated they had a buyer who would pay $27,750.00. The owners of the timeshare had to agree to pay $2,497.50 for transaction expenses before the closing; they were promised to be refunded this after closing.
BBB confirmed that White Mountain Holdings is not a licensed escrow company in the State of Oregon. According to the Oregon Real Estate Agency, this license is required for the services advertised on White Mountain Holdings’ website. BBB confirmed this company is not registered with Oregon Secretary of State, therefore ownership of the company cannot be verified. The address provided on the website is a virtual address; a physical location could not be located. The company’s website was registered on December 24, 2016, to a person in Mexico. The website also uses photos taken from other websites located in the United Kingdom and Australia.
On March 17, 2017, BBB called the company and a voicemail answered stating, “Rosenberg & Patrick Escrow Company.” BBB emailed the company regarding their escrow licensing and is currently awaiting a response.
As of September 28, 2017, BBB found their website has been taken down, their phone number has been disconnected and their email address is no longer valid.
