On Sept. 22, 2022, I hired ************************* to restore power to my garage. I was using an electric trimmer to trim a hedge when I cut the extention cord stopping power to the front porch outlet and all the outlets to the garage. Never once did ***** mention that he only needed to reset the *** outlet next to the breaker box to restore power. I asked ***** to replace the outlets on the front porch and inside the garage thinking the outlets had been compromised. Not once did ***** mention that replacing the outlets was not necessary. He charged me $1000.00 for the work on September 22, when all that was needed was a reset on the *** outlet instead costing $110.00 for a house call. Before leaving on the 22nd, ***** stated that I needed to have the breakers in the breaker box replaced because the breakers did not trip. He said he would turn off the power to the house if I did not replace the breakers. Threatened with loss of power, I agreed. He stated that he would charge me an additional $2200.00. He came back on September 23,2022. He worked for less than two hours to complete his work. When he was done he charged me an additional $550.00 for a total of $2750.00 for less than 2 hours work. I am a 72 year old senior citizen, and feeling intimidated, I paid. The next week I hired a licensed electrician from ********************** and he was so upset with what he found, he did not charge me for the visit. First, ***** is a handyman not a licensed electrician and he does not have the authority to shut off my power or work on the breaker box. He should have only charged me $110.00 to reset the ***.

Yes, I was called to come and take care of an electrical issue **************** had. As I do every time I go to a customers house I explain to them I am a handyman, I have knowledge on how to do such and such the plaintiff told me what had happened and I gave her what I charge to do the services she agreed to do. She said yes please. I had first tried to find if one of the outlets had been tripped or the breakers in the breaker box. Know that the whole house, garage and inside the house were almost impossible to move around due to her being a hoarder, so finding all the outlets took awhile. I decided to replace the outlets with her consent and authorization for $1,000.

When we got done with that, they still werent working, so I suggested that if it was my house I would replace the breakers in the breaker box, she said let me think about it. I said no problem maam. She asked how much it would cost, I looked it up and gave her a cost, the cost was $2750.00, she said thats a lot. I said I understand, think on it and let me know. She talked to her daughter, the people that she bought the house from and the neighbor across the street. She said that the son of the people that use to own the house was dealing with the same thing at his house and he told her that changing the breakers in the breaker box was probably his next step. Now know, I didnt talk to any of these people this is what she told me! She then asked me again, what would you do? I said, if it where my house I would change out the breakers NOT ONCE, did I threaten her to turn her power off nor did I tell her she had to do anything. She asked, do you know how to change out the breakers in the breaker box and I said yes but I am not a certified electrician but yes I can do this and I know how. We finished putting the plate covers on and I told her we were done. She asked how much do I owe you and I told her the exact amount I told her to begin with, $1,000. She said ok, thanked me and said how happy she was that i was able to come out so quickly. Then she said, *****, lets go ahead and change out the breakers in the breaker box. I said ok, no problem Ill get that done tomorrow she asked what time I told her about 8:30. She said ok Ill see you then. We came the next morning and replaced the breakers. We got done and she asked how much do I owe you and the price was exactly what I had told her before $2,750.00. She said **, wrote the check and said again thank you ***** and she asked if we would do some other work in one of the, I believe the laundry room, I said we cant right now but I can look at it later. So not only was the plaintiff happy but she was also wanting us to do more work. So you can guess how shocked I was to hear about this bogus claim. I dont feel that giving her a refund of the services she asked for and agreed to is acceptable, this feels like buyers remorse.
Please let me know where I go from here.

    Thank you,

I am rejecting this response because:s ********************** response is an untruth.  References to the neighbor and the person who previously owned the house are false.  But that has nothing to do with being scammed by *******************   I previously wrote that ****************** charged me a $2750.00 for less than two hours work.  The prevailing rate for a licensed electrician on the high side is $110.00 an hour.  There was cost of around $200.00 in breakers for the job that ****************** was not licensed to do. He had no business touching the breaker box.  There was nothing wrong with the breakers. And he did state that he could turn off the power to my house.

When I paid him the last check on Sept. 23 for $2750.00, I was so uncomfortable because I was home alone and I did not want a confrontation.  But I did feel that something was dreadfully wrong which is why I asked for a licensed electrician to come to my house and inspect ********************** work.  *****, the owner of ********************** was so upset he not only did not charge me for the visit to my house but he paid for the inspection by the electrical inspector.  ************************* did not call for an inspector. I learned from ***** that the work on the breaker box was not needed. ***** is a highly respected third generation electrician in *******, ******. ***** called ****************** to try to convince ****************** to "to make things right" but ****************** declined. The owner of ********************** told me that I needed to notify the BBB because ********************** work was such a fleecing. He stated that anyone can go on the internet and find a rate that fits a desired charge for work.

****************** took around 4 hours on Sept. 22 because, in part, he did not know that there had to be *** outlet in the garage.  He called a friend who is an electrician to help guide him through the job.  He charge me $1000.00 for nearly four hours work replacing five outlets. That would have cost around $440 in labor and not more than $50.00 in outlets. ***************** left leaving the front porch outside out without a cover exposed to the rain and told me to take care of it. The licensed electrician and his apprentice took all five outlets out from the wall, took them apart, inspected them, and put them back in the wall correctly in 30 minutes.  ****************** has no justification for charging me nearly $4000.00 dollars for a job that only needed a reset the *** outlet next to the breaker box.  ****************** seemingly takes advantage of senior women who depend on home repair people to be honestly forthcoming.

    Sincerely,

    *************************
