    I have a JET 22-44 Pro. It was produced new in 2005. The feed belt roller was bent and I was looking for a replacement. To my dismay JET has changed the way the roller attaches to the motor, and has discontinued parts for older models. I worked with JET service and the response was, "that connection is obsolete and we no longer make those parts, you will need to have the piece machined or you can purchase a new tool." I asked for the specifications so I could have it machined and the response was, "sorry, that is proprietary information, we cant share that." So, its obsolete to the point that you it is not made, but not obsolete enough to release the part specifications so that others can repair the tools. After several frustrating rounds of emails with service I got nowhere. I decided to look around at the history of the tool. I found that the JET 22-44 was identical to the Supermax sander by Laguna. I contacted their parts department and was delighted by the service I received. They helped me compare specifications between my part and theirs and we were able to determine it was a match. In the conversation I relayed that I had been told by JET Customer Service, "that JET doesn't make parts for older tools and it is unreasonable to expect a company to support a tool for that long." The Laguna tech was extremely surprised by this response. He indicated that Laguna will continue to produce parts for their tools as once the tooling has been made, the cost to continue production is minimal. With this experience I would highly recommend anyone interested in a drum sander look into the Laguna models. They are functionally identical and the company is dedicated to supporting the tools for the long term. I am extremely disappointed that JET has decided to pursue this strategy with part production and I will looking at other manufacturers for tools in the future.
