    I initially emailed the owner of The Award Man on 5/5/23. I asked if he could engrave a cup (Stanley brand) and sent him a link to the details of the cup. He replied to me and said it could be done and to bring it into his business. Upon dropping the cup off on 5/11/23, I didn’t sign any paperwork and wasn’t given any detail on the process. He just told me he’d have it done by Mother’s Day because it was a gift which was three days later. I never heard anything back so I emailed and called on 5/16/23. He did return my call later that day saying he’d contact me the next morning because he had been out sick. On 5/17/23 I decided to just show up and get my cup even if it wasn’t completed. He told me upon arrival that the cup was ruined by the laser and that it couldn’t be engraved. He then offered to try to cover the defect made by his machine with a decal. I came back three hours later and he had slapped a sticker over the ruined area and told me it would probably come off. I then asked for him to reimburse me for my cup because I paid $50+ for it and he ruined it. He refused. After going back and forth, he offered half of the cost of the cup but wouldn’t hand me the cash without recording the transaction on his phone even though I said I didn’t want to be recorded. I made it clear that the $25 didn’t fix the issue and that the right thing to do would be to pay the full amount, but I was getting nowhere with him and decided to just leave. When I told him that he should have disclosed that this could occur, he simply said it’s implied. I never signed a waiver or anything and it was never made clear that the cup could be ruined in the process or I wouldn’t have agreed.
