01/24/2024 I went to Giant Eagle in Painesville Ohio Store ****** On my way into the store I was approached by 2 guys wanting me to sign a petition for Gerrymandering in Ohio. I came here to shop and not be harassed. They were very aggressive and finally I told them leave me alone. I did my shopping and before I left I stopped at Customer Service and asked why they were there. The nice lady at Customer Service said they had called the Sheriff's Department to get rid of them. They were asked to leave and they did not. Why were they even there in the first place. I did not notice no loitering signs or no soliciting signs on the building. As I left they tried to bother me again and the Sheriff had just arrived. I called Giant Eagle Customer Service 800 number spoke with Jason after waiting for a call back and he was not helpful at all. He hung up on me, I called back somehow got Jason again and asked for a manager and he hung up on me while I was on hold. Giant Eagle did try and call me again but I had already wasted 20 minutes on hold I was not going to do this again. Also when I gave them my Giant Eagle card number that I share with my mother who has since passed and we have the same last name he would not at first speak with me about anything. Until I informed him what happened. I go there to shop and not to feel like it is unsafe to shop at Giant Eagle. If the staff does not have the authority to handle trespassers and are afraid to tell them to leave and have to call the Sheriff then why should I even still shop there. If I cannot feel comfortable and not threatened from shopping there. There should not be allowed any Political Soliciting of Petitions in my opinion at their Location in Painesville or any location. Why did they feel comfortable being there if they were trespassing as the customer service lady told me. This needs to be resolved.Business Response

It is all well and Good I received a response from Giant Eagle Thank You. But there are no signs I can see about No Loitering, or No Soliciting on the Building. This I would like to see put at both entrances of the store so I know at least it is posted. This way the Sheriff can arrest them next time instead of giving them a warning.

I participate in the fuel perks program through Giant Eagle and GetGo. Giant Eagle advertises up to 30 gallons of fuel can be purchased with the rewards that are earned. Upon trying to redeem my reward, the pump clicked off at just over 20 gallons and would not restart. I queried the cashier as i was still owed 10 gallon at a $1.20 per gallon discount. I was told that their policy now stops to pump at the the first click off. This practice cheated me out of $12 worth of my fuel perks reward. The cashier wasn’t interested. I find this “ policy” to be very economically convenient for the vendor and false advertising.Business Response

There is description of the consumer' s concern. It is only a screen shot of a fuel pump.Customer Answer
Date: 02/02/2024
I am requesting my case, ********* be reopened. Included are screenshots of my original complaint. The vendor later asks for a description of the complaint and states that there is only a picture of a gas pump. Screenshots from the original complaint dictate otherwise. The vendor also asked for the location of which facility was visited. Again, the following screenshots answer that question. The vendor continues to ask frivolous questions that are already answered in the content of the original complaint. To reiterate, GetGo advertises up to 30 gallons of fuel per redemption of fuel perks. My pump shut off at 20 gallons (see photo) and the cashier was not interested in any type of accommodation or accountability. My discount was $1.20 per gallon and I was shorted 10 gallons. This is not the first time they have done this to me. They essentially owe me $12.00.

I am a long time shopper of Giant Eagle. I shop Giant Eagle sales almost solely. When I rang up my items they all rang up as the regular price. The supervisor went and price checked. I was charged the “sale” price, but that price was their regular price in their system. Every item I purchased rang up as a standard price. They artificially inflated their price on the shelf to mark it down as a sale. This is a deceptive pricing practice. The remedy I desire is for GE to discontinue deceptive pricing techniques artificially inflating their regular price, advertising the adjusted price as a sale.Business Response

This is a follow up letter in response to a patient’s concern expressed on 1/9/2024 regarding a recent pharmacy
interaction. We at Giant Eagle strive to provide best in class customer service to all patients.Regarding the concern that *** *********** *** was not able to receive a medication two (2) days early and
that this was not adequately communicated to her, The United States Controlled Substance Act Part 1306.04
requires a pharmacist to exercise their professional judgement and corresponding responsibility when filling or
refilling a controlled substance prescription. Further, Pennsylvania regulations provide that a pharmacist may
only refill a prescription at a reasonable time prior to when the prescription would be consumed according to the
prescriber’s directions. Pennsylvania regulations also require a pharmacist to exercise their professional
judgement by performing a prospective drug utilization review when filling a prescription. These regulations
require a pharmacist to review clinical items such as, but not limited to clinical misuse, therapeutic
appropriateness, accumulation of medication, proper dosing, or drug interactions. Giant Eagle supports its
pharmacist in their professional judgement when performing their required corresponding responsibility. In a review of *** *********** son’s prescription refill history, the most recent prescription was received
electronically on 12/15/2023 with the previous prescription being picked up on 11/19/2023. On 12/15/2023, the
patient’s insurance rejected the claim for ‘fill too soon: next fill due on 12/18/2023.’ On 12/17/2023, 1 day before
the insurance allowed payment while exercising professional judgement when filling or refilling a controlled
substance prescription, the prescription was filled using a ‘discount card’ and was picked up that day. The
prescription was then rebilled to the patient’s insurance on 12/18/2023.

I did a curbside order with giant eagle on Friday 1-5 which Giant Eagle canceled because they said there was not enough money on the card which there was but the order was never canceled on their end. Then when they canceled the order, I replaced the order and it was supposed to be delivered between four and five, which I called Eagle at 5:30 on January 6 because I didn’t have a order now they’re telling me that they are not refunding me my money something needs to be done. I keep getting a runaround. I spoke to several different workers and got told several different things I want my money back.Business Response

Giant Eagle is price gouging on all products. I left Pittsburgh 6 months ago and came back for the holidays. The prices on basic items (milk, eggs, flour, pasta) are all 1.5x higher than they were back in May. It is very safe to say that Giant Eagle has raised prices past the point of gouging and are now exploiting their monopoly status in the Western PA market. I think that Giant Eagle needs to have more oversight on their pricing and be subject to reviews to ensure that they are no longer price gouging their customers. After 28 years of shopping at Giant Eagle, I can no longer support the company that is taking advantage of a community.Business Response

I went to Hempfield Giant Eagle in Greengate on the week of December 14th when my boyfriend and I noticed that the stadium mustard was expired so we brought it to customer service lady that had glasses and dark curly hair no name tag on. Well my boyfriend told her it was expired and that he would like to purchase one so she said well go see if there is one that's not expired. Then he comes back and she asked him do you want to work here and she also made to remark well they missed one thing on this busy holiday season look at that. I thought those remarks were totally not necessary and very disrespectful especially for customer service. I think next time I'll just ask for the manager but I just want to let someone know how the customers like myself get treated and get snob employees that maybe behind a counter talking rude maybe they can check shelves for expired items as well since everyone is so busy because it's not just the holiday season there. Meanwhile the other giant eagle down the road maintains their store great at Eastgate. I didn't appreciate the comments or even ask if he wanted to work there. I worked in retail and customer service so I know that this lady should have never said or asked those questions.Business Response

I purchased a gift card on line on 11/24 and tried to use it at bath and body works on 12/1 and was unable to redeem. I contacted Bath and Body works and they have no information on the gift card. I tried to call on 12/1 and it is a recorded loop and cannot get to a live person. I filled out the contact us on 12/1 and 12/2, it says a response will be received in 3 days; it has been 6 days and have not had a response. I called the general customer service number and the customer person transfered me into the customer service recording loop for gift cards.Business Response
