1 starMontco Rooter came out to perform hydro jetting services on an old sewer line at my property. When the technician left our property he said that the line was all clear to the street. The invoice also states that the technician fully jetted and evaluated the line with a camera after to make sure that the line was clear. A few months later when I hired a plumber to begin building bathrooms which would use that line, they used their camera and said that the line definitely never had any significant work done and it was clear that there was extreme build up including rocks, dirt and other debris. When I reached out to Montco Rooter about this they said there was nothing they could do because I had surpassed the 30 day guarantee. The problem is that the line had been unused for several years and nothing would have gotten into the line since the work had been done. It was clear that the technician lied about the state of the line, collected total funds and left. I have since asked for a refund and when I reach out they will not connect me to any managers and will not call me back.Review fromMaggie S

1 starThey are a rip off!! I called for a diagnostic after having another plumber try to snake my toilet clog with no success. The tech came out an insisted on using the snake and guaranteed he would get the clog cleared. I was asked to sign a cell phone without being able to read anything so I did. Tech tried to snake the toilet for 30 min and couldnt clear the clog. Then looked around my basement and saw a wet pipe and insisted the clog was there. I was told they would have to dig up the floor that the clog was underground and gave me an estimate of almost ***** to fix. Since the clog was not cleared I assumed I would be charged just a diagnostic fee and they charged me $600 to not fix anything. Their contract that I supposedly signed says after 90 min of trying to clear a line the $599 fee will be charged. I have camera footage that the tech was in my house with a snake for only 40 min. There contract also shows a diagnostic fee of $198. Next day I got another plumber to the house and found out Montco rooter diagnosed the clog wrong. The clog was 30 ft ahead of where they said. I complained about being charged $600 for using the snake when I only requested the problem to be diagnosed and I also reported that they misdiagnosed where the clog was and no refund was given back. My toilet clog was on the second floor and visually they made a guess on where clog was in the basement. They did not snake anything in the basement or use a camera. This company is a scam that will make up work to charge higher fees. When I requested a copy of the document I signed, I was sent an invoice with a scribble and not my signature on it when I signed my whole first name on the cell phone. Horrible service and then the manager ******* knew he was wrong and tried to offer me some of my money back instead of a full refund.Review fromEric W

1 starI had a gas leak in my home last weekend 11/17/24. The gas company came and confirmed the leak and recommended that we have a plumbing and heating service come out to fix the problem. Monto Rooter was the only service that would come out to assess the leak on Sunday. I was told by the technician that it would be best to replace all the gas pipes in my home. I was quoted an exorbitant price (later found out to was about 4 times the cost of other plumbers). They first charged me $589.00 for a 2-foot metal pipe, they removed all other metal pipes and replaced them with plastic. The job was finished on Tuesday. We had to call the gas company 5 times every day after the gas line pipes were replaced. Each time the gas company reported the pipes were not properly installed. ***** returned and each time and each time they reported the leaks were fixed. On Thursday another leak and they reported they fixed it; only this time the furnace would not turn on. Next, they stated the furnace needed an ignitor switch and that they do not install this part. What kind of plumbing and heating company does not fix heaters? Incompetent one like this one. We ended up calling a trusted plumber our neighbor used. He replaced the ignitor switch. The leaks continued, ***** came out again on Saturday and Sunday to fix (or should I say not fix) the leaks. On Sunday night once again another leak and another call to the gas company. They confirmed the leak Montco claimed was fixed earlier in the day was not. We have been dealing with this problem for 1 week without resolution and thousands of dollars spent. We called Monto Rooter and stated we have no confidence in their ability to fix the leaks. We are currently disputing payment. We have since read reviews regarding this predatory, incompetent plumbing service in hopes that others do not get dupped in to using their service and fall prey to their incompetence and inordinate prices.Review fromSalem C

1 starMike is a liar and a thief. No other words I can think of to describe him. Making stealing legal is an understatement. I'm a landlord in the lehigh valley and had a tennant flush too many baby wipes down the toilet. Called Montco rooter to come out. They charged me close to 1,000 dollars ro drain the sewage line and then told me my sewage line was shailing and needed to be replaced. (Later, after the work is done, I find this out to be a lie) Mike just thought I was an easy target for an insurance claim. I had another plumber come check the old line out and to my discovery the old pipe was still in functional condition. Before the work was started Mike had one of his guys give me two options. Install a new sewage line below ground for 14,000 or below ground for 9,000. I opted for what my insurance company would cover. Mike's employee continued to convinced to install above ground and that I could keep the insurance money to pay for parts. I reluctantly accepted and when the job was all said and done he had the audacity to ask for the complete pay out for installing the pipe underground. I obviously refused and am now currently in court battles with him and his company.
Some other side notes:
I had a drain in the basement that is no longer functional. I was not told about this before or after the work was done.
I also have an unfinished bathroom in the basement. During the job, Mike's employee asked me if I was doing anything with thay bathroom. I replied I am not but that doesn't mean a future owner of the house wouldn't want to. I had absolutely no idea he was disconnecting all the plumbing in the basement.
Also, after the work was all done and I discover all the issues, I called the city to find out no permit was ever purchased which my insurance company would have initially paid for.
Stay the heck away from Mike and his company Montco rooter plumbing. Mike is as dishonest and disingenuous as they come.Review fromKathleen V

1 starI set up an appointment online to have a leaky faucet repaired. When the plumber arrived, he informed me that he would need to replace the faucet and the water lines under the sink as well. I know we have hard water, and that did not sound unreasonable. The price was however, excessive. I had water lines replaced under my kitchen sink 6 months ago by another company which was 1/4 of the cost. I should have stopped there, but I thought he should know what was needed, and cost should be competitive. He said he needed to leave to go to the shop to pick up a new faucet. He charged $299 to run to the shop and pick up this item. The line item cost for the faucet was $42.98. He then charged $599 to replace the water lines and another $599 to replace the faucet. While he was here, he said he would need to replace the flapper in the toilet, which was running. He quoted $495 to do this. I told him no, since I can get a replacement flapper at home depot for under $10 and have replaced this on my own before. He also charged $99 for a membership fee and stated that this was the equivalent of the service call fee and would waive that for the day and give me 2 free assessments. I will not be using them ever again, so I will not be using the assessment service. Additionally, the plumber left to go to his shop for the faucet, and when he returned, I was out back talking with my neighbor. I did not know he had returned, and he walked right in my house (didn't realize I had not locked the door). The total bill was $1648. This is way out of line with the current rates other plumbers have charged in the area. He had completed the job in under 2 hours (including his drive time to the shop) and the fees for labor and drive time were $1500! This company is taking advantage of people. And the coming into the house without knocking after driving away to his shop is nothing short of criminal.Review fromLeonetti A

1 starMichael horn from Monto Rooter charged us $800 for his attempt to fix a clogged drain. He did not have the proper equipment for the commercial bathroom but attempted anyway and said he does not work for free so we have to pay $800 anyway! He tried! The next day we called a different plumber and the problem was fixed within 30 minutes. Very poorly equipped company. Mike might be able to fix a small drain in your kitchen but bathroom repair is not something that Montco Rooter can handle.Review fromNatalia P

1 starMontco Rooter came out to to fix a clogged toilet in our store. Did not have a commercial grade machine to handle it, but the technicians gave it a try anyway, then said it was an honest good attempt but unsuccessful. So they charged our credit card more than $800. They said they don`t work for free! Nothing is fixed.
First tech spent 30 min in the bathroom and asked us to us agree to a $900 charge and they would take care of the problem the same day. We agreed; it was an emergency. The technician presented a tab!et with the price, and we signed his estimate.
The techs spent 3 hours taking the toilet off the wall and putting it back on the wall without any result. When the toilet was mounted back, Montco Rooter informed us that they are finished and ready to accept the payment. The charge was $604.72. Plus $200 for a part? Was the problem fixed? No, The problem is outside, underground, and would run another $1,000 tomorrow.
We were not informed of a $804 charge for a failed attempt to fix a toilet, in response tech said that we signed a "contract". There was no contract, only an estimate.
We should have called the police at that point but we let the techs leave.
If we were told in the first place that that Motco Rooter does not have a commercial grade machine, I`d never allow these techs inside the prem.
The next day, I called a different plumber. A tech came out, with a large size machine, fixed the issue all by himself within 35 min.
The problem was not outside.
Right away I called Monto Rooter to follow up and explain that everything is fixed and the problem was mis-diagnosed. Mike was very rude and refused a refund. He said I paid $800 "for his honest attempt to fix a toilet and he does not work for free".
We are extremely dissatisfied with the work performed.
Charging the customer for an unsuccessful attempt the same amount that was quoted for a fix of clogged toilet? $800 paid and nothing is fixed.
