      Business Response

      Date: 03/28/2023

This letter is in response to the complaint about our business on 2/27/2023 with assigned ID number ********.

Our sincere apologies that ******** ********'s time with the Pittsburgh Lady Roadrunners did not end as anyone intended.  We have taken Mrs. ********'s allegations seriously and have reviewed the issue with the Board of Directors, disciplinary committee and the volunteer coaches involved.  We have taken a hard look at the costs incurred by the organization specifically to support Mrs. ********'s daughter's development for the current season until the date of her notification that her daughter was quitting the organization on January 28, 2023.  Based on the cost incurred to that point for field rental at Greentree Sportsplex for fielding development, allocated cost of the time used at the Roadrunners Training Center, Pitching Lessons, Fielding instruction, custom uniforms already purchased prior to Mrs. ********'s daughters' departure that can not be returned or reused, a practice shirt, Pittsburgh Lady Roadrunners Family t-shirt, insurance through USA Softball and a tournament, it was determined that the cost incurred to date for Mrs. ********s child exceeded the amount of dues paid at the time of Mrs. ********'s daughter's departure.  We are a not-for-profit organization and the reality is that dues do not cover the entire cost to our participants.  We supplement the actual cost of each participant in excess of dues paid by fundraising to get back to zero profit.

We wanted to take a hard look to ensure that we were being fair and that dues did not exceed costs incurred to date for Mrs. ********'s daughter, which they did not.  However we would also like to point you to the note on the attached dues schedule that Mrs. ******** signed stating that **There is a no refund policy.  We collect dues in installments that align very closely with when the actual costs for participants development are incurred by the organization.

We wish Mrs. ********'s daughter nothing but the best in the future.

      Best regards,
      Pittsburgh Lady Roadrunners

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The costs that PLR are claiming are absolutely false, it makes no sense to say that all of the money We spent and fundraised was used when we didn’t even play half of the time we were due to play for including 7 tournaments and a World Series, so how would all the money be accounted for???? Not to mention this organization is a joke and only cares about the money and not the well being of the players and the players safety. If a child is put in an unsafe and toxic environment, then absolutely some sort of refund should be issued. I’m requesting an exact cost break down of costs incurred. The date that we removed our daughter from the toxic environment was the day after the incident at the tournament where the coaches broke the code of conduct which was 1/22/23 not 1/28, we stated we were done on 1/22 and PLR requested a meeting to try to come to a resolution, we agreed to the meeting however stated that we would not be returning to the team no matter the outcome of the meeting.

      Regards,

      ******** ********
