I have never had a loan with Advance America but someone from their office has been calling me and then recently called my father asking for me. This is very frustrating. I do not live with him and he should not be contacted at all no matter what but when i do not have a loan with you do not call me and others over and over again to try and get us to get a loan. This makes me never want to consider them even if i was. I just want them to leave me and everyone they can find that is associated with me alone.Business Response

This loan company approved me and then said they had to verify my bank account. They deposited 500.00 in my account, and I immediately sent it back to them. They then deducted another 500 but did not tell me. Once I realized it was a scam, I declined the offer. They then said that I would have to pay a $250 cancellation fee if I wanted the $500 back. And, if I did cancel, my credit would take a hit and I would not be able to apply for a loan for a year.

I took out a payday loan 1,120 on 10/16/23 from advanced America. My first payment was due of 53.92 was due on 11/3/23; I postponed that first payment for four days which means it collected four days of interest I went to advanced America on 11/14/23 at 11:48am and paid $150 in cash. I strictly asked to pay off my postponed payment and put the rest towards my next payment. It was suggested by the worker that I put the rest towards my interest rate to lower my monthly payments. So I said OK.
Fast forward to 1/17/24 I went to see what my balance was on my account so that I can start making payments to pay it off and I went into my account and it told me that I had $1052 left to pay after I had paid at this $594. I spoke with Tiffany on 1/17/24 around 8 PM and I was told that my initial postpone payment is why my balance is so high because it was unpaid, even though I did pay it. I explained to her that I paid it and when I paid it and she told me that she was unable to do anything about it, and that I would have to go to the store where I took the loan out.
On 1/18/24 I called advance America and I was told that there was no postpone payment on my account and they would give me a call back later on that day I did not receive a phone call that day. On 1/19/24 I went to advance America at **** **** *** *******, KS, I was given the runaround and they did admit that that payment never went to my postpone payment even though they confirmed that I did tell them I was paying off my postpone payment (I do have partial phone recording of this interaction), that postpone payment has been collecting interest every day since 11/14/24. I will be calling their manager to speak with them as well to see if they can fix it as this current balance does not reflect an accurate balance on my account, as I am all caught up with all my payments.
I also did make a $300 payment towards my principal only on 11/19/24… as without interest I do owe 525.Business Response

RE: ***** ********,

Dear Cindy:
Advance America, Cash Advance Centers of Kansas, Inc. (“Advance
America”) is in receipt of a complaint filed by ***** ********. We have
thoroughly reviewed and appreciate the opportunity to respond.
In the complaint, ***** ******** states they had requested for a
payment that was due on November 3, 2023, be postponed. Further, ***** ********
states they went into the branch on November 14, 2023, to “…pay off my
postponed payment and put the rest towards my next payment.” ***** ********
states on “…1/17/24 I went to see what my balance was on my account so that I
can start making payments to pay if off and I went into my account and it told
that I have $1052 left to pay after I had paid at this $594 (sic)”. ***** ******** states they were told the payment made on November 14, 2023, did not
go towards the postponed payment as requested and is concerned that “…postpone
payment has been collecting interest every day since 11/14/24.”
According to our records, ***** ******** entered into a Customer
Loan of Credit (“LOC”) Agreement (“Agreement”) with the Advance America storefront
located at **** **** **** ******** ** ***** on October 16, 2023. ***** ********
was approved to make draws of up to one thousand one hundred twenty dollars ($1120).
On October 16, 2023, ***** ******** requested and received a draw of one
thousand one hundred twenty dollars ($1120). On November 3, 2023, a debit card
payment of fifty-three dollars and ninety-two cents ($53.92) was attempted but
returned unpaid. On November 8, 2023, ***** ******** requested to postpone the
payment of fifty-three dollars and ninety-two cents ($53.92). The postponed
payment would suspend the payment including relevant principal and interest. There
is no additional interest accrued on the postponed payment and can be repaid
anytime.
On November 14, 2023, ***** ******** made a payment of one
hundred fifty dollars ($150). ***** ******** had requested the postponed
payment be rectified at that time and the remaining funds be paid toward the
account balance. Unfortunately, the postponed payment was not rectified as
requested, however, did not accrue additional interest.
In relation to ***** ********’s grievance about their current balanced
owed, leaves us perplexed. ***** ******** to date has had two (2) payments
returned unpaid and were not rectified until days later. During this time,
interest continued to accrue. Additionally, ***** ******** is enrolled in text
message and email notifications. ***** ******** also receives a bi-weekly
statement which includes the interest accrued during the statement period as
well as the minimum balance owed. Additionally, the statement notifies ***** ******** that if only the minimum payment is made, the interest and time it
will take to repay the balance may increase.
As a courtesy and an effort to remediate our oversight, on
January 23, 2024, we provided a credit of fifty-three dollars and ninety-two
cents ($53.92) to ***** ********’s account and they no longer have a postponed
balance owed. We hope this satisfies ***** ********.

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.
Regards,
***** ********i attached a hand written response and also your response fail to acknowledge the fact that my account is all paid up and also with your employees not letting me know that out of the $85 that my biweekly payments were supposed to be that only $20 that was actually going towards my payment… Not to mention when I paid that 150 I wanted the rest of that 150 to go towards my next payment and I Was talked out of putting it towards my next payment and talked into putting it on my interest payments, because that would make my monthly payments lower according to your employees, knowing that after everything’s been explained to me now That if my principal is still high, my interest rates are still high. In other words your employees knowingly tried to screw me over and continue to try to screw me over.
I paid you guys Almost $900 to date, I only borrowed one thousand a hundred and twenty dollars there is no way that I still owe you guys seven hundred dollars after everything has been caught up and if I missed a payment it was paid in full and then some … there’s also no way I would’ve agreed to only be paying $20 every two weeks that makes absolutely no .
Not to mention the fact that your employees when I went in there to go and fix, the issue were joking with me talking about “the goal is to keep you in this forever”.
All in all it was not explained that you guys were only taking $20 out of my bank account every two weeks to go towards a payment while paying 60 $70 in interest rates… Your employees knew what they were doing and intentionally set me up to screw me over, everything was properly explained to me today when I called to speak with somebody that was trained in the corporate office. Again I paid you guys Exactly $894.72 to date, And I only borrowed $1120. So explain to me why my balance is still over $700

***** ******** has been in contact with multiple Advance America
employees as well as management attempting to explain the LOC product as well
as explain how interest accrues. We recommend that if ***** ******** would like

seven hundred twenty-seven dollars and sixty-four cents ($727.64) with a minimum

As previously stated on January 23, 2024, we provided a credit of

I applied for a loan of $6000 on 1/12/24 online through a Company called Advance America. Advance America is a legitimate company but the person I dealt with was a scammer using their business name and logo. He said that I didn't qualify for the $6000 because my credit score was below 700 but that they could help me get the loan after boosting my credit score by depositing funds into my bank account and sending it to them via **** ***. Not really understanding the process and his explanation and also trusting in what he was telling me, I gave him all my personal information to him such as SSN, DOB and Bank account info. He then asked me to **** *** him the money to help boost my credit and qualify for the loan. I didn't know that these funds that he deposited into my account came from reversals of payments I had made to my creditors previously. It's so very confusing that I'm probably not explaining it correctly. He goes by the name Benny and his phone number is ***** ********. After I realized that he was not a representative or employee with Advance America and this was fraud I immediately went to my bank to close my account. Now I'm out of $4745. Hope this never happens to anyone else. ??Business Response

I received a call from a third party about a debt that I owe to Advance America since 2017. I told them never bother me again or my family. I do not want Advance America to bother me again about the debt that is going on 7 years. I'm not paying it today I'm not paying it in another 7 years or 10 years or even 50 years please stop harassing me about the money. I will contact my attorney and I will take Advanced America to court as well as any other third parties you want to continue trying to collect money from me. I'm living in my car and homeless. Its winter and very cold. I'm not worried about paying a debt I'm worried about staying alive outside with the bitter cold. Stop calling me stop sending me letters and stop third parties contacting me now going on 7 years. Let me be. I'm suing and taking people to court if this keeps up. Do not contact my family as well. They will also press charges for harassing them. Keep my family and friends out of my business. Keep harassing me and I will be pressing charges as well and people are going to court. No warrants also. Trust me i will be suing big time if anything happens to me about this debt.Business Response

Dear Cindy:
ACSO of ********* ***. d/b/a Advance America (“Advance

opportunity to respond.
In the complaint, ***** ********* states they
are receiving calls from a third party referencing a debt from Advance America.
***** ********* states they would not like to be contacted regarding the debt
nor do they want family contacted.
According to our records, ***** *********
entered into a Loan Agreement (“Agreement”) with Advance America on July 5,
2019. Pursuant to the Agreement, ***** ********* agreed to repay an amount of six
hundred seventy-six dollars and forty-nine cents ($676.49) on or before July
19, 2019. An ACH deposit was attempted on July 19, 2019, in the amount of six
hundred seventy-six dollars and forty-nine cents ($676.49). The ACH deposit was
returned unpaid which resulted in a returned check fee of twenty-eight dollars
and sixty-six cents ($28.66). After multiple unsuccessful attempts to contact
David Horlocker and collect the past due balance, their loan was sold to ***** ********* *** on December 26, 2021, with a balance due of seven hundred five
dollars and fifteen cents ($705.15).
After receiving ***** *********’s complaint, an

RE: ***** **************, Complaint ID ********
Dear Cindy:
Advance America, Cash Advance Centers of Colorado, LLC (“Advance
America”) is in receipt of a complaint filed by ***** **************. We
have thoroughly reviewed and
appreciate the opportunity to respond.
In the complaint, ***** ************** states, “I received an
email and then a phone call from Advance America” which informed them that they
were approved for a loan. ***** ************** states, “They cash apped me $998
and said I needed to send it back.” ***** ************** states they were
notified it was a scam and would like to get their money back.
According to our records, ***** ************** entered into a
Customer Loan Agreement (“Agreement”) with the Advance America storefront
located at **** ******** ** *** *** ******* ** ***** on June 14, 2021. Pursuant
to the Agreement, ***** ************** agreed to repay an amount of nine
hundred twelve dollars and fifty cents ($912.50) in twelve (12) bi-weekly
payments of seventy dollars and nineteen cents ($70.19) and one (1) final
payment of seventy dollars and twenty-two cents ($70.22) due on December 13,
2019. ***** ************** paid the loan as agreed. On December 13, 2019, the
loan was paid in full, therefore ***** ************** no longer owes a balance
to Advance America.
The communications complained appear to be part of an effort to
defraud customers, like ***** **************, by falsely claiming to represent
Advance America. Advance America would never deposit funds into a customer’s
account only to demand their immediate return. Further, Advance America does
not utilize the deposit app “Cash App” for loan purposes. Advance America has
previously communicated similar efforts to state and federal regulators as well
as the Federal Bureau of Investigation and local law enforcement agencies.
We recommend that ***** ************** continue to document all
details of any such communications in the future, not disclose any personal
information to the individuals, and, if appropriate, report such communication
to law enforcement or other proper regulatory authorities for further investigation.

Since around May of 2023 I have been receiving communications from advance America via US mail. I have attempted to request directly that the company stop sending me offers and junk mail but am unable to get in touch with anyone. The most recent communication arrived approximately January 5th of 2024. I have no interest in advanced America, clarity services, transunion selling my info, or lexisnexis. They all need to stop.Business Response
