Re-Bath installed a fiberglass shower surround in approx. 2004 in my bath, but covered up the shower diverter connection in the process. (The diverter requires a deep well 7/8" socket to remove. The surround was cut such that the socket could not be placed onto the diverter.) Did not discover this until the diverter needed replacing in November 2022. Re-Bath, after having been shown pics of their shoddy installation, offered to cut the surround back to allow removal of the diverter (a $15 replacement item at Home Depot), but wanted a $75 trip charge to do so. I used a Dremel tool, cut back the fiberglass to provide the clearance, & replaced the diverter in about 8 minutes.
Re-Bath, when informed of this & showed pics of the work, remained adamant that "since they did not install the plumbing", they did nothing wrong by covering up the diverter when installing the surround. THIS MAKES NO SENSE. AT the time my surround was installed, the whole marketing strategy of Re-Bath was to install these surrounds, not re-plumb bathrooms. Whether or not the plumbing was installed by Re-Bath, the surround should have been cut to provide clearance for access to the plumbing; this is Installation 101. Moreover, this was a learning opportunity for Re-Bath, which they not only did not see but categorically refused to acknowledge. This is not the mark of a professional organization, and their behavior, attitude, and refusal to correct an obvious case of poor workmanship casts doubts whether they should be considered a quality company.
I had the ability & wherewithal to correct this error. What If I had sold my house to someone who did not? They would have paid this company $75 for less than 10 minutes of work for something that should have properly been done at installation - and Re-Bath would have just smiled to themselves, another unknowing customer satisfied.

In 2004, Re-Bath Chattanooga did install an acrylic wall surround system under the customer’s name “**** *******.” **** ******* is presumed to be *** *******’s wife. At that time we did offer new plumbing and fixtures but the customer decided to keep old plumbing and reuse existing fixtures. We do cut out holes to get access to rough-in valves in case there is a problem with the valve. We cut the hole smaller than the actual Escutcheon valve plate so there are no gaps for water to get behind and get inside the walls to cause damage. According to the customer, the hole was cut too tight and could not get his socket inside the wall to replace the diverter cartridge. From 2004 to 2022, there has been no record of the customer having any issues with the installation of the acrylic wall system until this instance. The customer did call us about this issue and wanted us to come out and cut some of the wall material out so he could get access to change out the diverter cartridge. It has been standard practice for us to charge a trip charge, now currently $75, especially now with labor and transportation costs. The customer did not want to pay the $75 and said he would figure out a solution on his own. We let him know that if he started cutting on the wall material and ended up damaging the wall that his warranty would be voided. The customer said he did not care about the warranty because he was selling the house. The customer did not appear to be mad or upset during this conversation. It was only after Mr. ******* came into our showroom to show us the physical acrylic shavings in a bag that he cut on his own. Mr. ******* expressed how unhappy he was with us and wanted to show us pictures. Mr. ******* just kept saying that it was poor workmanship that we should have come out to fix the issue at no cost. He left our office saying that he was going to report us to the Better Business Bureau.

The company submitted a reply to the above review. Interestingly, they did not deny the evidence of shoddy workmanship, unprofessionalism, or poor customer service. Rather, the focus was on selling a fiberglass surround to my late wife rather than me personally, & that there were no complaints about the surround from installation in 2004 until 2022, which is to be expected since plumbing doesn't require much routine maintenance that would necessitate frequent inspection. All in all, the above review stands on its merits, and nothing in the reply by company refutes the salient points made above.
