According to the FTC, the same substantiation principles they have
applied to health claims for close to 50 years apply to similar claims for
CBD products. Companies that represent expressly or by implication that what
they sell can prevent, treat, or cure medical conditions will be held to the
highest substantiation standards and marketers can expect careful scrutiny of
those promises. Therefore, BBB strongly encourages Consumers to first,
discuss use of these products with health care providers and second, do your
homework. Research the origin, harvesting and manufacturing processes of all
products you are considering. Third, ask questions when visiting sellers. If
a seller cannot show you a current report documenting legal, scientific lab
testing for each product, chances are the product origin and content are
suspect. Finally, the FDA is aware that some companies are marketing products
containing cannabis and cannabis-derived compounds in ways that violate the
Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act) and that may put the
health and safety of consumers at risk. Before purchasing, please visit the
