    As a small business owner who has operated successfully in the same retail location for several years, I am extremely disappointed by my recent experience with CBL Properties. Despite being a consistent tenant and maintaining a professional relationship throughout my lease term, I was met with unprofessional behavior and ultimately denied a lease renewal without just cause or proper communication.

    I attempted to address these concerns through the proper channels, including reaching out to CBL leadership, the mall director, and submitting a formal demand letter. I also reported discriminatory conduct — including inappropriate language and dismissive treatment — by a representative during the leasing process. To date, my concerns have not been acknowledged or addressed with transparency or fairness.

    My experience reflects a larger issue in how small, minority-owned businesses are treated within corporate leasing structures. I expected to be treated with the same respect and professionalism that I extended throughout my time at the property. Instead, I was left with no option but to vacate the premises and seek advocacy from outside organizations.

    I sincerely hope CBL Properties reevaluates how they treat long-standing tenants — particularly women and business owners of color — and takes meaningful steps toward equity, professionalism, and accountability.
