TruGreen came on Monday, 9/12/2022 to take care of a crab grass issue. I don't know what they did but the grass is all brown is several areas of the lawn. The person even sprayed a section of the neighbors yard and now her grass is all brown. I have contacted the company several times even asking if a manager to come out to look at the problem. To date, no manager has contacted me. I have included pictures for your review.

I do NOT subscribe to Trugreen. Everytime you call whether corporate or the local number, you get the call center who then forwards your message to the branch. Nobody can give a direct number to someone in authority. Nor do they carry business cards. On 8-24-22 they sprayed my lawn with grasses&weed control chemicals. I have organic veggie and flower gardens! I phoned them advising wrong address, should have been **** ****** I reside on **** **********. I had planted grass seed the week before, they advised to wait 2 weeks before replanting. On **** without any notification, phone call or my authorization, they come with an aerator (after we had 2 days of steady down pour rain, about 4 inches) and proceed to go over my entire lawn leaving ruts, ridges, torn grass, deep aeration holes, they forced their way into my gated back yard, chewing up the fence post. Overall my front & back yard is rugged terrain, unwalkable to mow or navigate with my disability. I have phoned multiple times Aug 24, 25, 29, 31, September 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, and 14. Spoke with multiple Care ***** ******** and Chatted. On 9-2 *************************, ?Crew Mgr -no biz card? shows up without forewarning, walks the yard, agrees the damage is too extensive, too many area's in the yard affected, its above what he can authorize, calls his manager ********************* to advise him. I proceed to wait from 9-2 until 9-9 for **** to come view the damages. Says he needs to consult with his manager will call me back later that day -no call. On **** I get an email saying they will do nothing, that the plugs will dissipate. Never addressed the physical terrain, fence post, overall integrity of the dirt with ruts/ridges/pulled up grasses. Only when threatening BBB, State Attorney does he say we will fix the post and lay sod in the ruts. Piece-meal,unacceptable! Getting bids from Landscapers to fix the issue they created and costs are upwards $5,000+. I want yard fixed-restored to orig levelness by a reputable company

Approximately one week after a TruGreen technician visited our home to spray our lawn, we found the ground cover over an entire section of a our property dead. This includes both creeping ********************* and strawberry begonias that my wife and I planted by hand over a span of months. There is a clear line demarcating viable ground cover and dead ground cover (see photos). The only possible way that this could occur is that the TruGreen technician inappropriately sprayed the area and killed the ground cover. We saw the technician walk over to this area after treating our lawn. We were unclear what he was doing at the time since there is no grass or lawn in this area. Now we know that he was killing our plants. I have attempted to contact the TruGreen regional office to speak with a manager for over two weeks now. I received a call once from the regional manager while I was in a meeting and he indicated to me that was available one day last week which happened to my clinic day (I can't speak to anyone while I am seeing patients the entire day). I have now called their office over 10 times and have yet to speak with a manager or with someone that can help me. This is entirely unacceptable. I want a refund for the last visit to treat my lawn and I want my ground cover re-planted at TruGreen's expense. Nothing short of this will be acceptable.

The local service manager evaluated the areas the customer stated were damaged, and determined it may have been due to something that was sprayed.  We agreed to reimburse the customer $1670 to replace their landscape plants.  The customer is aware the claim has been submitted, and it can take a couple of weeks for them to receive the reimbursement check.  A member of the ************** Team will follow up with the customer to ensure they receive the refund.

I am rejecting this response because:

First, the damages were definitely and without a doubt due to chemicals sprayed by the TruGreen technician.

Stating 'may have been' due to TruGreen's treatment is ridiculous and insulting.

Second, I have not received a check from TruGreen to date.  Until that occurs, I am not accepting any response related to this matter.

Their incredibly poor service, inept training, and poor communication truly boggles the mind.

Every individual in the ******* TruGreen branch associated with this incident should be terminated.

New sod installed 07-25-22. First date of service with trugreen was 08-29-22. The employee came out asked questions about the lawn and sprayed fertilizer and weed killer. He is on tape remarking the lawn is in great condition to begin services with trugreen. The lawn died within hours. The company came out two weeks later and said they were sorry they should not have sprayed fertilizer on such young grass. They refunded me for the first service. ***************** CS, said they would investigate. Nobody came to the property to investigate. Company called and said it died from lack of watering. Water logs provided indicating watering was in line with their recommendations, 30 minutes daily. Checked material safety data sheets MSDS of their fertilizer which instruct not to apply to new sod and not in high temperatures, and at half strength (the temperature the week it was sprayed was consistently over 106, also provided to CS) I have employees on tape apologizing admitting fault saying they shouldnt have sprayed such young grass. The square footage was doubled in my invoice indicating they spread over twice as much fertilizer than shouldve been. I contacted them and gave them a chance to fix it, they refused and wanted it to go through legal ***** Looks like the company formation is out of ******** (very common to do that due to favorable corporate protection rules), the principal lives in TN, and the statutory agent is in ******** **. I would have to properly serve the statutory agent, but it looks like that is another company (which might have yet another statutory agent, and so ). It is a scam with no remedial action available to the consumer.

      Business Response

      Date: 09/23/2022

According to the local management team, the customer requested we treat the lawn.  The lawn was treated with the necessary fertilizer at a lower summer rate.  We also treated the weeds at her request to help control the population.  It is documented that we only treated half the lawn for weeds, but the entire lawn is in decline.  She was advised that the lawn was in decline, and the issues with her irrigation system needed to be addressed or the lawn would continue to suffer.  In the pictures she sent, you can clearly see the sod lines.  These sod lines will become visible when the sod is poorly irrigated.  If newly sodded lawn does not receive enough water, it will shrink because there are not enough roots to hold it in place.  Trugreen must respectfully deny the customer's claim as the damage was clearly caused by lack of water and not anything applied by Trugreen.

      Complaint: 18044657

I am rejecting this response because:

The *** documents for the chemicals TruGreen used on 08/29/2022 were contraindicated for use on my lawn. See attachments. Neither the week killer nor the fertilizer were to be used on new sod "until after 3 mowings". Even if it were indicated the label states in addition when applying in high temperatures rates "should be reduced to 50% to avoid turf injury". Tripower, the other chemical on my invoice, clearly states "Do not apply to newly seeded grasses until well established" and  "avoid applying during excessively dry or hot periods. The high temperatures during and following application on 08/29/2022 were 93, 102, 109, 106, 106, and 108 degrees Fahrenheit, (see weather.com attachment of historical weather patterns for my zip code *****). At this juncture it is important to note "It is a Violation of Federal law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with it's labeling".

Although the chemicals absolutely should not have been used on this new lawn I will continue with the argument to dispute your claims. The lawn, installed in July, was measured at ***** square feet, (see invoice from **********************). TruGreen calculated their fertilizer at a rate sufficient for a lawn of ***** square feet and a total of **** gallons, (see TruGreen invoice on date of application). This means even though the fertilizer, according to the *** label should not have been used and when indicated should have been used at a reduced rate of 50%, was actually applied with over 2X the chemical in accordance with lawn size. An overcalculation of ***** square feet!

The lawn also had a new sprinkler system installed with, thankfully, the ability to log our watering schedule. As you can see on the TruGreen website watering should be done once a week in the summertime, (see attachment). But that likely would be for well established lawns. So, I have included my watering schedule as instructed by ************************, 3x a day at 20 minutes a time. When the TruGreen employee arrived he told us to water it once a day for 30 minutes, preferably in the morning. I have included the water logs that were in accordance with instruction from TruGreen. I am unfortunately unable to attach the video recordings (due to allowed file types) I have of the employee making this advisement and can provide it when BBB requests it. I also have us making the employee aware of the sod being new and never mowed.  Also, stating you can see the sod lines when chemicals were applied is pretty much admission you were aware it was newly sodded so is it really necessary?

I also have recordings of the employee taking fault for the death of the lawn, stating Trugreen never should've applied fertilizer to such a young lawn.

      Sincerely,

      ***********************

I am reaching out because it appears that TrueGreens representatives are intentionally omitting details from the notes of phone calls where customers call to cancel their services. I am also reporting theft of funds by TrueGreen and requesting that they return the full amount of $149.35 that was charged to my **************** card on 9/17/2022. I have called several times to have my account canceled but TrueGreen continues to send technicians to my home to perform services I do not want or need and then they charge my **************** card on file. Most recently, they sent the local technician, ****, to my home on Friday SEP 16th. I noticed on Saturday SEP 17th that I was charged $149.35 from TrueGreen so I immediately called the technician, ****. **** apologized and explained that even he knows *** called several times to cancel the service, which he and I have documented through text. He said he did a non-fill and didnt perform any services which shouldve resulted in no charges anyway. He even called the office to explain that I canceled but they told him to proceed with the service anyway. I have **** on the record saying these things and he will vouch for me. I also have all of the texts showing that even **** knew I canceled my account. When I reached out to TrueGreen today to explain that I canceled my service and request a refund, the agent explained that there were no notes stating that I canceled. On or around Aug 12th 2022, I called TrueGreen for the second time in an attempt to cancel. I was told by the rep that the cancellation was successful and I would no longer be charged. He also said that I would receive a full refund but I only ended up receiving half of a refund. At this point I just chalked the other half up as a loss and moved on. It is pretty clear that TruGreens agents are intentionally omitting the fact that customers call to cancel their service so that they can continue to bill and charge them for services not needed.

We hired True ***** ************ in February/2022 hoping they would improve our lawn. We paid $1,444.88 by credit card for a year of service. Our lawn, which is not there anymore, is now just weeds and ****. True green has come out monthly, left service notes, but nothing has improved. It has just gotten worse. We started calling True ***** in July of this year to try to get some resolution. We have spoken to a different representative each time. Each time we have asked for a supervisor but the reps are unable to connect us to one and will not give us a direct phone number to a supervisor. We have logged each phone call and have names, times and dates of each phone call. I have tried to contract the corporate office by e mail and have gotten 2 computer generated no respond e mails saying due to Covid that no one will be contacting us.A supervisor was scheduled to come and meet with us on Thursday 8/15, but no supervisor ever came out. When we called back, the operator said we had had a service that morning at 9:00am but we never saw anyone and no one came to the door.It has gotten so frustrating that we want to discontinue our service ( non service) and get a complete refund. But we cant get a hold of anyone to do that.

The transaction date was March 5, 2022....I prepaid them for a one year service on my lawn to the amount of $1,090.27 for the care of my lawn. Over 50% of my lawn is dead and I have weeds and clover growing throughout my lawn. I was promised that they would come out and reseed and take care of the dead spots and kill the weeds and they have done none of these. I have called the company repeatedly and have been unable to reach a manager or someone who has authority to expedite my claims. Their answering system sends you in circles and never allows you to reach anyone for help. They don't return my phone calls and do not respond to any of my requests because they are spread all over the world and have no authority to give me any phone numbers or contacts. I find it near impossible to communicate with any one who has the authority to satisfy my complaints. This company is a scam and should be investigated for fraud.

I previously used Trugreen about 2 years ago and had much better service and communication, but this experience was horrible. To start, I signed up for lawn care service in April under the impression that I could try out the service for half off and decide whether to keep it. Well, they dont tell you that a technician comes out multiple days in a row and what is originally half off ends up being full price after subsequent charges (5/3, 5/4). They dont tell you when they are coming, until the last minute, at which point you dont have the ability to cancel or contact anyone to reschedule. They came back 3x (6/8, 7/11, 8/11) each leaving no time to cancel their service once they tell me they are on their way. Moreover, there was one application where they didnt even service my backyard because my dog was outside! How am I supposed to know when you will be here to have my dog inside if you never schedule the services in advance? Hundreds of dollars in charges later and I feel like my yard looks even worse than when they started. They supposedly treated for tree/shrub insects, but my roses were damaged by ******** beetles this year. I swear it never feels like theyve done anything and my camera only ever shows them in my yard for a few minutes each time. *** reached out to them several times to request a call back about issues and if I receive a call, no one speaks on the other end (assume it is an automated call), they call during my work hours and dont leave a direct call back number or dont follow up at all. Today I find a letter indicating a portion of my charges were sent to collections all while I am supposedly working on getting these issues corrected! I was hoping to schedule an aeration and overseeing with them, but after this experience I doubt Ill ever use/recommend TruGreen again. Now, I have to start from scratch because my yard is overtaken by so many weeds and I worry about my credit being negatively impacted by the collection charges.
