TruGreen came to our home & did lawn service without our consent. Although in 2023 we had a prepaid service, it was not renewed in 2024. I have called twice to cancel the service and asked to speak with a manager. Was told he was busy and would return my call. I have emailed all details to customer support name given to me and asked for a credit of $72.82, the charge for an unauthorized service. I wanted a written confirmation that service is cancelled but was told they only give confirmation numbers and no written confirmations. Horrible customer service!!! Horrible company. Do not do business with these people!!TruGreen

If I could give Truegreen negative stars, I would. We have had them for years. My front lawn is 350' to the street and 500' wide. When we had Chemlawn years ago, before the buyout, my lawn was like a rug, beautiful and a complement to how it should be.The lawn started to go downhill just before COVID. I would call them, and there was every excuse in the book: it was my neighbor's fault, they didn't have their lawn treated, it rained too much, or it didn't rain enough. I asked the manager to meet with my sprinkler company and landscaper to try to make things right. I did my part. At one point, the manager came out, looked at the lawn, and agreed that my lawn looked like "S&%t."For three years, I called them, spoke to the "escalation" department in *******, and told them all I wanted was the Truegreen guaranteea green lawn. Well, last year, I canceled them; I figured it couldn't be much worse if I had someone else do it.DON'T use this company! Monmouth Couty has a terrible reputation, is rude, and is just not a good company to do business with.Use a smaller mom-and-pop that is local and has ties to your community. This national company is just thata huge national company whose local franchises couldn't care less.TruGreen guarantees you will write the check and hope for the best!TruGreen

Thank you for your feedback. A member of our local management team reached out to this customer. He offered to evaluate and help develop a plan for recovery, but the customer denied his assistance. If there is anything we can do in the future please let us know.Review fromJohn C

I started to use the service last Spring and customer service provided me a monthly quote of $151 which I paid on autopay each month. This fee would include lawn care and tree care. They promised me a greener lawn which did not occur. In about 6 months later I decided to cancel the service. But before the cancelation I received a debt collection letter for about $365 which I was unaware of and surprised! I contacted Trugreen C/S and was informed that there were other services provided which was not included on the monthly autopay. I never received a statement of the additional charges. It turned out however that now I owed them $521.65 and would remove the lean from the credit bureau if I paid. I paid them so as not to have a bad credit rating. If the company is so great and good business ethics, I would like to have them reimburse me the above amount. I will never use this company again nor recommend them to other neighbors in my community. I was very disappointed in their actions on the additional charges. **********TruGreen

Thank you for your feedback. A member of the corporate care team spoke with this customer, and explained our monthly pay process. We break down the total amount the customer would pay over a year into 12 monthly payments. Due to agronomic needs of the lawn, there are times during the year when the balance for services rendered may exceed the amount the customer paid. This is what happened when this customer canceled. ********* care apologized to the customer that our monthly billing process was not explained thoroughly at the time the service was set up. We agreed to refund the customer half of their last payment.Review fromAdriana M

TruGreen took my beautiful lawn and made it brown. They said I had crab grass yet admitted that the picture they took when they first started the service had no crab grass. Their suggestion was for me to lay sod.TruGreen

On behalf of TruGreen we apologized for the inconvenience. TruGreen branch manager *************************** has done a property evaluation, and he says that the customers lawn has brown crabgrass and its dormant from the weather. TruGreen does not fix nor replace wild grasses. We have refunded the customer and she requested, and we respectfully decline to fix areas we did not cause damage to.Review fromJason W

This company is rude and never even wants to fix the problem. Killed my bushes and tried saying wasn't their fault. Lawncare was poor and areas always skipped over and when you confront them they say that you never contacted them. What a joke for a company. Would never recommend to anybody!!!!TruGreen

I am writing to express my deep concern and frustration regarding a recent experience I was charged $78.95 compared to the previous charge of $30.75 without prior notification of a price change for the upcoming season. When I called I was told that my price can only be adjusted to $55.00. This practice is a shady business because the service is completed prior to notification of a significant price increase of more than 50%. This leaves the customer with unepected billing hike! I declined the newly reduced offer at the time due to feeling liked im being price gouged.TruGreen

They Moved the Goal Post!I first replied to an ad form a ************ platform about a seasonal discount, they then called me and were very rude. They wouldn't share any contact info for my local TruGreen location, as I wanted to reach out to a local branch. Ive never been a fan of automated phone systems. They are impersonal and lend themselves to poor service for the consumer. Proof in point is the experience I've had thus far. Shortly afterward a local Branch Sales Manager emailed me and offered a discount if I wanted to try the service for a month. It included several services I thought would be valuable. So, I agreed to pay for one month to see how it went. They then charged my credit card for an entire years worth of services. That forced me to call in and request a refund for the over charges. Still anticipating the services, I was promised for that one month I had paid for, no one came to fulfill and execute the services sold to me. I attempted to call the local Branch Sales Manager several time since my experience. It's been 4 months of leaving periodic messages and still no reply. I don't know where to turn so I'm submitting a review to see if that will inspire some follow thru and some service with the sale. It's a classic bait and switch if I don't say so myself.Note: I feel duped now that I've read other customers reviews on here, ugh.TruGreen

I am happy with the service overall. But they renew the service each year without confirming that you still want the service. They charge you for it as well. It seems they push the service on people whether or not they still want it. It would be better to contact the customer each year to see if they are still in a position to pay for this year after year.TruGreen

Thank you for reaching out to us. A member of the corporate care team spoke with the customer, and discussed why we offer continuous service. The representative the customer spoke with on Friday canceled his service as requested, and there was no charge to the customer's card. The customer stated he may call back at a later date to reinstate service.Review fromJanice S

My 90 year old mother hired TruGreen to provide a lawn service and prepaid for a years worth of services for the 2023 year. As of November of 2023 she moved into an Assisted Living Facility. We did not know that TruGreen automatically renew the contract. On February 26th they came and treated the lawn for a house that she no longer lives in (no one lives there and it even has a bright pink sticker on the front window that you can see from the street stating the house was empty). TruGreen had an agreement to notify when they were coming to treat the lawn via phone. The phone had been disconnected on November 16th. No one was notified of the automatic renewal. I called TruGreen and they said we had to pay for the treatment since the contract was not cancelled. This is terrible that they are expecting her to pay for a treatment for a house she no longer lives in or owns. SHAME ON YOU TRUGREEN!!!!TruGreen
