I would never again go with American Home Shield for warranty coverage. I was told my initial coverage plan would cover appliances such as dishwasher, washer and dryer. When the "welcome call" came in, he informed me that was not covered by my plan but I could upgrade to the next level of coverage during the "welcome period" and it would take effect immediately and a service request could be submitted. I requested a day to think about whether I wanted to upgrade. The next day, a male friend called to discuss the issue and to upgrade the service since I was otherwise occupied. He was also told by the representative that the upgraded coverage would take effect immediately and a ticket could be submitted the very next day. The upgrade was paid. When I went to submit the ticket the next day, it was not available and the customer ********************** stated it would have a 2 week waiting period before it would become effective. This was in direct contradiction to what the two previous agents stated. I had to call customer ********************** 3 times and was transferred 3 times before reaching the "end point" where the agent stated there was nothing they could do regarding the start date but they could "give me a waived service fee" that I could use on that start date. So, now, I have an active leak from the appliance in question that is damaging my basement ceiling that I can't get fixed unless it's out of pocket even when I was told three times the coverage would be effective immediately. Being a single mother attempting to manage these aspects of homeownership is difficult enough. Having a home warranty service that misrepresents their policies and misleads their customers makes it so much harder. Do NOT use this service.American Home Shield

If I could give this no stars I would!!! DO NOT waste your time or your money. This company is a total scam and will take your money for years but will NEVER fix any issues you report. Outsourced customer ********************** is horrible and act like they cannot comprehend what is being said or explained nor do they read the notes previously written by the other agents. I have never had such horrible service and refuse to continue to give my money to an organization that cannot be trusted to do what it promised to do. Sock your money away and call your local plumber/repairman.American Home Shield

The spring on my garage door broke, the tech came out and added things that needed to be updated, American Home Shield wouldn't cover most of the repairs, I asked for an second appending, they had another company scheduled to come out, I never heard from this Company, so I called them and they informed me that they don't do business with American Home Shield because they don't like to pay for the service. So I call American Home Shield and got no support from any of the *** only they did was made promises, I asked for an Cash Out report never received the report. Call the repairmen back and asked home much did they charged for the Service called and they said $75 and American Home Shield charged me $125, I called in for workorder on 5/28 and I didn't get my garage repaired until 6/13 and still haven't heard anything from American Home Shield.American Home Shield

Purchased a warranty with AHS in November of 2024 when we bought our house. I paid in full for 1 year of coverage. May 27 my water heater cracked and leaked all over my basement. I called AHS and they said a tech would contact me within 48 hrs. 2 days no hot water is an inconvenience but not terrible. I got the text 2 days later that my tech would arrive to inspect the unit on Jun 10 at 6pm. After uncountable phone calls to AHS, I finally got them to cancel that tech and was told I could use my own as long as they called AHS and got approved. I had my tech that was able to replace the unit same day call and then he called me back and said they allow him to do the work but will not reimburse me. I ended up putting a new water heater in by myself as I am capable and it cost me $1,000. The quote I got from my tech was *****. After a lot more back and forth with AHS they offered $559 reimbursement, after I pay 150 deductible that supposedly will be refunded. That math means had I used the warranty I paid for it would have cost me $2,000 instead of the $1,000 by doing my self. This company is an absolute joke. If you are thinking about a home warranty, absolutely do NOT use AHS. ************************ to go with no hot water and all they could say was their techs were busy and they know it is an inconvenience....very sad that this business is still doing business. Sad thing is reading reviews this seems to be pretty normal for this company. Buyer beware! Do not purchase a warranty with this company!American Home Shield

I advise that you DO NOT trust American Home Shield (AHS) Our water heater stopped working 13 days ago and it still is not repaired. It has been 13 days of cold showers because AHS contracts with incompetent plumbers. AHS will not let you choose a contractor. The first contractor assigned never followed through after waiting 10 days! AHS then assigned a second ******** When I look up both plumbers' reviews they are horrible! Please take due diligence to research which warranty companies automatically allow you to choose your own contractor. It's been 13 days with cold water showers and still don't know when it will be repaired. Unacceptable! Please beware of American Home! Shield!American Home Shield

I wish I didn't have to give them a star. They are horrible with canceling memberships. I called to cancel my membership back in February and they continued to charge me. They told me they would listen to the recorded call and contact me. They never did. I contacted them again in hopes of speaking to a manager and the representative told me they don't have the authority to transfer me to a manager and decided to refund me for one month only. I am not pleased with this company and I don't plan to ever do business with them in the future.American Home Shield

Absolutely maddening to deal with this company. SIX service calls were cancelled because they couldn't find a service technician for a geothermal unit and kept scheduling with a regular ************* despite me trying to educate them at every call the difference between a geothermal unit and an HVAC unit). I ended up paying for this out of pocket outside of my contract, but American Home Shield still billed me the service call fee for one of the six requests. (No one ever came out EVER and every service was cancelled well in advance!) When I asked for a refund, multiple people claimed that I was not billed. (It was listed on my credit card statement plain as day!) They now won't schedule a service appointment for a different appliance because they want me to pay the $125.00 that my credit card company charged back to them - all because they wouldn't fix their accounting error to begin with.American Home Shield

UPDATE: As of June 23, 2025, American Home Shield still has not cleared the $125 service fee from my account. ********************** will not allow me to schedule a valid service on a different appliance due to AHS's negligence in clearing AHS's fraudulent billing for services NEVER provided. Yet AHS has no problem continuing to bill me the monthly contract fee for services is has not and refuses to provide.Review fromMariah W

This company is horrible weve dealt with them in the past they didnt want to approve our pool pump and salt cell a few years ago, gave us the run around for MONTHS and it finally got approved but not without some pulling and tugging.This time around they dont want to replace the salt cell again (keep in mind theyve replaced it before) we have the highest platinum package pay $100 a month for them to tell me salt cell isnt included in the highest packet. Mind you at this point they sent someone to come out for a second opinion apparently KNOWING the salt cell wasnt covered ALL OF A SUDDEN. They are a pointless home insurance company to have they have too many complaints to still operate the way they do and they dont cover ANYTHING, I hope this company gets looked into at this point its highway robbery.Signed an ANGRY CUSTOMERAmerican Home Shield

AHS raised my monthly rate by $19.99 on the fourth of June and I called on that same day to cancel my service and they said they would in 24 hours. I waited 72 hours & no refund. I called two more times including today, 6/13/25 and they said there was nothing showing for a refund and that the escalating team would be calling me. Still no refund as of this day 6/13/25! Called for an AC repair. ******** heating and air from ********* were dispatched. The technician determined that a new switch board or AC unit was needed. I was called 30 minutes later by a secretary stating that I needed to pay $450 for coolant when the technician never even looked at the unit. I called American Home Shield to share the incident and they agree to contact and send a different company. 5 days passed and no one contacted me. I called back and they said they would send someone. 10 days passed and nothing. I called back and the stated that they "could not find a vendor". Additionally, not a single person that assisted me spoke proper English and they were extremely difficultly to understand. I cancelled by contract with them. Worst service ever. I was placed on hold at least 5 times during the process and each call. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. There is nothing American about them.American Home Shield
