On June 1 and again on June 8 I parked in the garage at ********************************************************. Both times, I followed the instructions for entering the garage to park which indicated that I was to pay upon exiting. Upon exiting the garage, the machine that should accept payments stated it was out of order leaving me no options for making the actual payment required when exiting. The parking arm was also in the 'up' position leading me to believe the out of order sign was correct.A month later (on the same day), I receive a letter for each instance stating that I didn't the pay the $7 parking fee. Therefore, I was being fined an additional $70.25 for each instance! The fine is 10 times the parking fee!! I completed the Metropolis dispute form informing them that their machine was not accepting payments and received the response that there are payment instructions at the garage. The only instructions I found indicated that I should pay upon exiting! They then told me my dispute was resolved and closed!I think this is a total scam! I would have happily paid the $7 each time I parked had I been able! I don't think charging me an additional $140.50 in fines is fair when the non-payment is their fault, not mine!

The company responded that they are willing to reduce the fine. That is NOT satisfactory!

My complaint was specifically that I was physically unable to make a payment. I pulled up to the gate, the machine to take a ticket from was covered but the gate opened so I drove in thinking I'd pay when I left. When I went to leave, that machine was also covered and the sign said to drive on out.  So I did!  There was nothing telling me I had to pay, how much to pay or how to pay. I don't feel I should have to pay a fine when I did nothing wrong. I understand that all parking downtown has a fee and am willing to pay that fee. Metropolis told me in their response that was $7. I wouldn't even have known that if that wasn't on the invoice!!! I've added two pictures showing they have no signage on how to pay or even how much to pay!

My husband and I went to a casino in downtown ******* ********. We parked in a parking structure owned my Metropolis. There was no parking attendant, and the gates were open. Two months later, I received a bill in the mail saying I owed $45 for less than two hours of parking. The notice only lists the web sites address (metropolis.io). When you access the web site it automatically asks for your phone number. I don't believe that I should have to give out my phone number, let alone a credit card number, to a business I don't believe to be legitimate, especially when you cannot even contact customer service.

I entered a Metropolis parking lot where there was no posted cost. I scanned a QR code that was "my account" apparently based on a time in 2021 when I parked there. They did not tell me what the cost to park was. They said they'd "let me know when I left". When I left I was send a receipt for $58.38 charged to my credit card. When I wrote to them they said I was sent a text about the charges. As you can see from the screenshot below, I was notified once in 2021 and again when I left the lot. Here are the various report of complaints about this company:***********************************************************************************************************************************************

I received a notice of failure to pay parking fares from metropolis in the amount of $30.00. My notice number is ***********. This has to be a Scam! I parked at the lot on Mothers Day for a brunch. The hotel validated my parking ticket. When I left to exit there was no parking attendant, the ticket box was not working and the gate was up. There was no additional signage to advise of what to do. I did not keep the ticket as proof as this occurred over a month ago. However if you call the Hotel I had reservations on file for Mothers Day. They should not be allowed to operate business this way and scam people out of money! The only way they advised that I am able to follow up on the status of my dispute is via email. Why does a business not have a phone number to call for follow up how can this possibly be the directive. Something does not seem right.

Hello,On June 19, 2024 I parked at the **************************** at ********************************* at 10:27am.I planned my parking trip for 2 hours due to the garage charging more money after 2 hours. I left with 5 mins to spare. I was stuck in a line exiting the parking facility and was charged for 3 hours when my time was 2 hours and 1 minute. I am requesting a refund for the last hour charged which was 1 minute. There is not a pay station in the lobby an no other option to pay other than having your license plate scanned as you leave the gate. Not being able to pay before you leave with a 5-10 minute grace ****** as all parking garages do is unacceptable and should be factored in to the system.Metropolis Technologies, **** is taking advantage of the system they created and not offering a amicable solution to refund. Having to pay via their app only creates numerous issues and needs to offer a lobby pay option.

      Hello ******* from Metropolis.io,

Thank you for your response.  There are many flaws in this Metropolis system.  Biggest being there should be a way to pay before leaving the facility with a 5-10minute grace ****** and then a service fee added on.

Per the response of $8 reimbursement to the credit card charged is fine.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

      Sincerely,

On 5-18 I entered a Metropolis garage. Upon exit their server was not processing my payment, attempted Apple Pay and Debit Card. I told the garage attendant, he let me out and said keep the browser open and keep trying. I kept attempting payment for 30 minutes when it finally accepted it, sent me to the receipt screen and stated paid. 30 days later I got a 'violation' for non-payment with a $70.25 fine. I have attempted to resolve this via their support email for a week and their only proposed resolution is giving me a 50%reduced fine. This was NOT my s**** up and instead was a faulty system on their behalf that they cannot find my payment. I'd be fine paying the original garage fee (as stated to their support) but they won't accept that and think I'm going to pay a fine when their system told me PAID. Why would I go check to see if it truly debited my account, which would have still been too late and earned me a fine. This company is horrible. Their business practices are ruthless and they don't attempt to resolve these manner. I will avoid parking in any of their garages from here on out. There's zero excuse for this. Hopefully, FLASH Parking buys them out like their other competitors. In a totally separate incident, they charged my husband $30 to LITERALLY turn around in one of their parking lots, we were in it less than 1.5 minutes. When they told me you have 10 minutes to enter/exit without being charged. *****.

On 5/12, I parked in a lot in the ********** area of ********* with no clear signage, no QR code or rates posted. I exited under two hours later. Today (6/20) I received a notice by mail that the fee is $43.70 for the fare and $70.25 for a violation fee. This feels completely made up. How was I to know the lot was being monitored if there were no clear signs? It was a gravel lotand it was a Sunday night where many lots in the area are free. Definitely not $20/hour for two hours. But I have no way to verify because there was no way to approve the amount t in advance. This isnt the first incident I have had with this company. I opt out of parking in their lots all the time for reasons like this. This just happens to be the most extreme case, which is why I am filing a complaint here. Bad business. Terrible customer service. Its all via automated email responses and no way to call them.

We received a violation/bill for a $25 parking garage (for a supposed 30 minutes) with a fine added, for a total of $95.25. This is a vehicle in my name that my son drives. My son was actually parked in the Subway parking lot right next to this Metropolis lot, which does not charge after 9pm. The photos are so dark that were provided by Metropolis that there is NO WAY for us to validate where the photo was actually taken. I reached out to them by email (no phone number contact), and they obviously paid no attention to my original email but offered what appeared to be a canned response, indicating that they would cut the fine by 50% and consider this a "one time oversight." POOR BUSINESS PRACTICE.

I pulled through a parking lot in the middle of a natural disaster (2024 ******* Derecho on May 16). I did not park or get out of my car. I immediately left once I figured out my bearings. One month later I received a parking violation demanding $21.65 unpaid fare and $65.25 violation fine, for a total of $86.90. This is a predatory business practice and I would like it investigated. A class action should be filed against this company, based on the number of complaints I see online.
