On 8/9/22, I entered the parking garage at ******************************************************************** at 5:22 PM, and exited at 6:52 PM. Upon entering the ********* was unable to successfully download *************** onto my phone. I later received a bill from McKinley Payments for $85.25!! I have now received another bill from Metropolis Payments for the exact same amount. There was no phone number on the bill to contact the company regarding this matter. Therefore, I am responsible for the $15 parking fee, but not the $70.25 ticket fine. This is absolutely ridiculous!!

Date of Transaction (ticket) - 9/16/22 Violation Number *********** Facility - 504 *************, ****** ** Parking Operator - 'Premier'I received a parking ticket/fine in the amount of ***** for a $9 parking fee I was totally unaware of. I ALWAYS pay for parking however in this case there was a sign that said no payments and they would bill if there was a fee. And now I get a parking ticket? I was told to park there for a meeting and was there <45min. There was no street parking in front as usual since it was under construction the day we were there. I should not be 'fined'! I contacted the company and was told if I did not have a receipt to show I paid then I had to pay the fine. There was no way to pay! How could I get a receipt? Gate was open and it said they would bill for any parking charge (not ticket!) but was there for 45min so assumed no charge.

I stopped to get food from a food truck parked at a lot owned by premier (Metropolis). I assumed we were allowed to park there to grab food and leave since the food truck was parked there. They sent me a bill for $75.25. The unpaid parking fee was $5.00. I tried to reach out to them by email. I also called and they hung up in my face while I was put on a "brief" hold (20 min hold). Try to call multiple times again with no luck. On the ticket, it says they will send this balance to a collection agency if I didn't pay but I haven't even been able to contact them.

In the past few months, I have twice received 'parking tickets' in the mail from Metropolis Payments. The most recent one was received late October of 2022. Both tickets stated that I had left parking lots they operate without paying. In both instances, I had scanned the ** code onsite and received a text message saying all I needed to do to pay was exit the parking lot. I am concerned that Metropolis is knowingly executing a strategy of sending these tickets to customers who followed the appropriate steps on the date of service in hopes to generate outsized profits. The parking fee for the most recent incident was $6.00, but the fine was $70.25. I am hopeful that the BBB's involvement can positively impact the situation for others who may be receiving these same messages.

They did not have a sign or anything that stated I would be in violation, nor did they have a way to pay them(nothing so that they can overcharge you). THis is like a bait and switch attempt to extort money out of people visiting downtown *********. I was issued violation number *********** for $92.15 to pay by 11/6/22 for parking in the garage(with no signs or warnings or any way to pay) on 2nd ave. I would not have parked in this garage that said only "PARKING" They are trying to make me pay $92.15!

I have parked in larger cities often. Never, and I mean never, have I dealt with a company that is so poorly operated. On 10/3/2022 my fiance and I parked at the trinity parking lot run by premier parking of ********* (which is not their operating name, they operate as "metropolis payments", yet another avenue of deception in holding them accountable). We entered the parking lot at about 4:11 pm, I recognized it was paid parking, used a smart phone, followed a QR code where it asked me for standard info. License plate number, name, phone number, and a method of payment. The app instructed me that it "automatically records the entrance (it showed in the app it knew I had entered the parking lot) and exit times, then charges your card "touch free" after you had exited the parking lot. So we went, walked around for about 45 mins and then decided to go eat dinner in another area of ******* We exited the parking lot at 4:57 p.m. on 10/03/2022. The app sent me a text message saying it recorded my exit and my card would be charged. So going about my life, my family visiting trip in ***** ends and we go back to **********, *******. On 10/27/2022 24 days later, I end up with a bill in the mail. It is from "Metropolis payments located at *******************************************************************************". The letter informs me of payment due that is a result of the original $5 parking fare, plus a "non payment violation ticket" that is $40.25. Yes, you read that correctly, the fee they are charging is more than 800% of the original parking fee. My thought here is, I received a text message explicitly saying my card would be charged, that combined with the system saying the system is touch free, so the question is, did it charge my card? Apparently not. I have reached out to their customer service about paying the original $5 fare using the card on file, but "****************" has assured me nothing short of $30 will be accepted, while threatening my credit score with a collections agency.

      Complaint: 18329624

I am rejecting this response because:

You're support team failed to recognize the issue, then insisted your company was unable to waive the outrageous parking fee, after informing me that there was no one I could speak to on the phone regarding the incident, they then offered a "one time reduction" of the hundreds of percent over the parking fare fee of a whopping $5. So the wrongly assessed fee of $45 on a $7 dollar fee, the official response of your support team is "the only thing we can do is reduce it to a $40 fee instead of a $45 fee".

Additionally by visiting the website, the company initiated another parking fare charge while my car is physically **** miles from the location, because your flawless system that per your website "automatically records license plates entering and exiting the parking lot" failed to recognize that my car wasn't physically in the parking spot and simply going to a specific url automatically triggers another parking fare charge. Not only did the company not recognize this charge as fraudulent, they actually charged my card the fare, they actually charged my card a parking fare for a parking lot I was **** miles away from.

Naturally I will be contacting my credit card company about having you labeled as a fraudulent charge because your company obviously is ok with it as your "customer support team" quite literally has refused to investigate the matter or speak directly with me about what's going on.

      Sincerely,

We entered the ************. garage on August 7th and were unable to figure out their payment app, while also realizing the first hour was free. The first hour was listed as free, but we mistakenly overstayed only 26 minutes due to a wait at the restaurant we visited. Weeks later we received a notice that we owe $6.00 parking fair plus $70.25 "fine." Nowhere in this garage did it state ramifications of a fine. I returned to the garage and verified there are no $70.25 violation signs present. I am more than happy to pay our unpaid fare of $6.00 and I contacted them and stated that I would, but they declined my appeal. I do not believe it is fair to request compensation beyond the $6.00 fare, especially considering the violation amount is not posted.

I received 3 ticket summaries from Metropolis payments for an outrageous amount of money considering the cost of fare. There is no indication when you park there that you would receive a ticket for over $75 if parking just seconds longer than what is stated. I received 3 tickets when showing condos to a client in a building 3 days in a row.
