I received a private parking ticket on ****** at ***************************************. Premier recently installed a new system to pay through an app. I was unable to modify the app from a temporary license plate (rental car) to my permanent license plate. Therefore I was unable to properly use the app in order to pay. Even though this was an error with their app rather than a lack of compliance on my part, they would not waive the fine and it was very difficult to get ahold of them. I sent several emails to try to resolve this. I also tried to stop at the office at **** ****** but no one was there. I received an email on 10/14 denying my appeal without any rationale. I asked a follow up question and never got an answer. Today (10/24) I received an email lowering the amount due to $30, still without the reason the fine was not waived. Again, at the time of the ticketed offense I tried to pay. The issue was with the app, not with my attempts to comply. The fine would have increased on 10/26, and the letter contained the threat of sending the matter to a debt collector, so I ended up paying the $30. I dont mind paying the $12 for parking, but I dispute the fine. In short - terrible customer service, and fining a customer for an error that was the fault of the company, not the customer. Yes, it's $30. But $30 from several people becomes a lot of money and is potentially a scheme to defraud customers.Business Response

I have the app installed on my phone. The app didnt charge me when I left the parking garage. I got a ticket in the mail (private companies cant ticket you by the way) for ***** plus the $10. When I emailed them to explain the app didnt work and to pay the $10, they refused to lower the fee past $50. I have had other issues with the Metropolis app not working and overcharging me. Do not park in their garages. Highly predatory company.Business Response

I received a parking notice for unpaid parking that occurred on 9/23/22. I loaned vehicle and the user parked in a facility on *************. Parking notice indicated there was unpaid parking of $40 and a fine of $70.25. I contacted Metropolis and indicated that the user of the vehicle was under the impression the parking fare was paid using the ** code and website. In reality, the user was never charged. I offered to pay the unpaid parking but not the fine as the fare amount was not posted in the facility and the user believed that parking had been paid based on usage of the website. Metropolis declined to accept my offer and told me their decision was final.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:Message to company. I will pay the amount the borrower of the car they thought was paid per the ******** site, but nothing additional due to their inferior website, signage, lack of attendants and payment processes.
For ticket ***********, the parking fee believed to be paid was $30. I will pay that amount since your systems were the culprit.

In addition, the lack of signage and fees is problematic and your company needs to address this along with systems issues making the customer think the payment was successful.

I received a parking violation notice in September from McKinley payments. The vehicle shown in the photo is not mine. The license plate in the photo is a Standard ********* license plate which has the same number as my specialty *************************** license plate which is totally different. I spoke with a representative of the company on 10-10-2022 who informed me that they didn't discuss violations over the phone and told me to email Metroplis payments, which I did. Metropolis emailed me back and said to go to Metropolis payments again and file my claim. I've tried sending all my information with photos of my vehicle and license plate twice but website will not take my info.I've reached out to this company on 5 different occasions and still can't get through to anyone other than someone taking calls that can't help.I'm sending photos of the vehicle and license plate in question along with my Vehicle (a pickup truck) and my license plate registered to my vehicle.I have never been to the parking facility in question, ever. I have documents of my claim I tried to send but failed. This is very frustrating for a business to conduct themselves in this manner.I'm hoping you can get the matter resolved for me.If you need more information, please call or email me. I parked at a Premier/Metropolis parking garage in the Gulch on 9/3/22 at 11:18 am. When I drove in, there was no information on how to pay to park. The gate was open, and there was no ticket to take. I left the facility at 1:10 PM, through an open exit gate. After looking everywhere to ascertain how to pay, I assumed the parking was free on weekends (it was a Saturday). Several weeks later, I received a Notice of Parking Ticket in the mail, providing a "violation number" and stating I owe $6.00 for "Unpaid parking fare" and $70.25 for "ticket fine", for a total of $76.25. I contacted Metropolis to request information on how I should have paid at the facility to avoid the fine, but they refused to address my questions. Instead, they offered to reduce the fee to $50 (see below). I have since seen that many other people have experienced the same issue with the Premier/Metropolis parking racket. I request that action be taken against this vendor. It deliberately obscures information on how to pay for parking, so that it can charge exorbitant fees, which are unfairly obtained and essentially represent a scam."**************** (Metropolis Payments)Oct 3, 2022, 9:21 AM PDT Thank you for contacting Metropolis Payments. Better Business Bureau:
I would like my dissatisfaction on the record with the business's response, which is no different from the response they provided to me when I complained directly to them after receiving their fine in the mail. Their response was to offer me a $50.00 settlement (reduced from the original charge of $76.25, for <2 hours of parking in a garage with no gate or signage) and to continue to insist that their signage is adequate to inform consumers how to pay for parking. It is not.Because I have expended a lot of time on this issue and continue to receive notices from the business regarding my outstanding fee, I paid it last week. I did not want them contacting a collection agency and affecting my credit, since it has been 2.5 months since the event occurred.
This business is taking advantage of consumers and should be stopped. My payment of the $50 fine in no way indicates my acceptance of their response, but since I previously received a notice from BBB that it was closing the case due to non-response, I have felt I do not have the support of the BBB or the *********** of ******** Affairs (to whom I also reached out) to obtain a fair outcome. So I gave up.
Sincerely,

We keep receiving this ticket stating we owe $80.25. The license plate they list is for my 2009 Pontiac. The vehicle they show is a black SUV ****** I have made contact with their customer service on two occasions and they are no help. No matter how many times I tell them we were out of town on the date of the violation not to mention it was not my car in the picture they sent. I want them to stop harassing us. When I asked to speak with someone who could help me they said I had to just go to a website. That was no help either. I see that they have many complaints why are they being able to get a license here in ******** when they are clearly using fraudulent billing practices.Business Response

I parked at Metropolis garage on 9-30-22 @5:20 pm at **********************************************. I scanned barcode but couldn't get on app to pay for parking. I tried the entire time I was at restaurant. I leave at 6:47 pm and go to another garage (350 *********************) to park @ 6:57 pm and left at 10:54 pm. I was able to get on app and pay. I get violation in the mail for $76.25. I filed dispute and explained and Metroplis said $50 is all they could reduce fee to. I want to pay my $6.00 parking fee, but feel it's unreasonable for a $70 fine. It is obviously an issue for other people because the drop down menu on dispute showed "could not get on app" and "poor cell phone reception" as reasons for dispute. I just want to pay my $6.00 parking fee and be done. Metropolis says there is nobody I can talk to. I also read news article from WSMV where many people are having same issues .Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: I have reached out to them many times and they say they can lower this from $76 down to $50 but that's it.............that is not acceptable to me. I am trying to pay what I owe, but they won't let me. Looks like they are just trying to make money off of people. I want to pay what I owe ($6.00), but not getting anywhere when I email customer support. I just want to pay my original fee that I couldn't, because I couldn't get onto the app that night. I have heard many people having the same issues and charging enormous fines as well. This is not acceptable.

I received a parking violation on my car. My son was driving and stated him and his friends tried to pay however their payment machines were not in working order. I tried filing a dispute with the company and was told this matter was closed. Now I'm receiving a second notice to pay. I saw a story on the new expressing the same concerns as mine. No way to pay on site and hit with a crazy fine on top of $10 parking. Attached is the link to the news article about this business being a scam. https://www.wsmv.com/2022/09/26/unexpected-violation-fee-parking-*********-can-be-7-times-cost-parking/?fbclid=IwAR3ZVgXysltch2JFTSZ2JhLw8-OV1aWxZeA8yODEqeFvTJDrrp4ThM42y5M#l8k8pir8gg1kmel3zphBusiness Response

Thank you for your reply.
Our records via the BBB site state that payment was attempted through an onsite pay machine and not the Metropolis web-app.
Because we do not accept payment through pay machines at this location, this violation is valid. We have reduced the violation fee as a courtesy.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. Have a great day.

In August of 2022 we received a notice from ******** Payments for parking in one of their lots in ******, **. The notice said we owed them $80.25. ($10 parking fare + $70.25 ticket fine) We did park in their lot on 7/4/22, however, when we tried to leave the lot after parking for 1 hr & 12 min, I scanned the ** code at their "pay' station but the page would not load. Thinking it was my phone, I had my oldest ******** the code using his phone (he has a different cell phone provider) he had the same problem, then my youngest son tried to scan the ** code, only to have the same issue. All three of us tried several other websites to test if it was our phones or the pay to park ** code. We were able to quickly & easily access all the websites we tried. It was at that point we realized their server was down making payment imposible. We waited in the lot for close to 25 minutes. We looked all over for a phone number to call or an attendant while we continued to try to scan the pay code. There was no phone number for help and at no point did we ever see a parking attendant to assist us with the payment issue. We had no choice but to leave the lot. A few days later we received a letter demanding $80.25. There was no number on the letter to call for help, only a web address to pay or file a dispute. I filed a dispute informing them that their pay system was inoperable, however I did wish to pay for parking and offered to mail them a money order or cashiers check for $10. A few days later I received a rather rude email from them denying my dispute and demanding the $80.25. I replied back to their email, again telling them it was of no fault of ours that their server was down, making it impossible for us to pay, and that I would gladly send them the $10, however I refused to allow them to extort the exorbitant fee of $70.25 because they had network issues. They they sent another rude response saying they denied my dispute. They are now using the name Metropolis Payments.Customer Answer
