We were vacationing in ********* on July 28, 2022. We parked in a couple of garages and paid for our parking with parking attendants and most garages has the arm barrier too. The best we can remember is we parked in a garage to go eat and when we left the garage we could not figure out how to pay. I thought it would be like the toll roads in ***** where they will mail you a bill. Well we did receive a bill and the parking was $6.00 and plus a fine of $70.25!! Is this even legal? Is this company legit and allowed to charge such a big fine? I am happy to pay the parking ticket but the $70.25 fine should be illegal! I did email the company after many attempts they tried to lower to $50.00 which I still find unacceptable. They also have NO phone number available. We loved ********* but after this I have no desire to ever visit again. Thanks for your time.

Metropolis Payments (Premier Parking), Violation Number ***********, Unpaid Parking Fare...$70.25, Date..9/13/22 On the above date we were visiting ********* and parked in one of your parking garages. Upon arrival it was noted there was no attendant or parking ticket that came out of the slot before entry. After I parked, I read the instructions regarding downloading information from a QR code. I don't have that technology available. As previously stated, there was nobody available from the parking company to pay for the parking. Shortly thereafter I received a parking ticket in the mail demanding $17 for the unpaid parking fare along with $70.25 ticket fine. I certainly have no problem paying for parking as that was my original intention, but the $70.25 fine is excessive. I understand there have been numerous complaints about this and I would like to add mine. We enjoy coming to ********* and marvel at the talent on display, but with issues like this we will reconsider our travels. Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to hearing from you regarding this situation.

I parked at the *********** in the Gulch operated by Premier Parking. No gate. No ticket dispenser. No signs re: prices or late payment fees. Only a QR Code and signs about "joining". I parked to meet a friend and then exited the garage - unsure if I would be in a free hour or if they would mail/give me a parking charge. The terms of the parking garage were so confusing and vague - I was unsure. Then, after a few days, in the mail I get a letter from McKinley Payments (not Premier Parking - but by something that sounds like a collections agency) with a picture of my car and demand I pay an $8 parking charge AND a $70.25 fee - with further threats of action if I do not pay. This feels like extortion and the $ fees and costs were not posted or made available to anyone parking or searching otherwise. I appealed per instructions in the letter - and was (surprise) quickly denied. With no explanation. I followed up and asked for info and I have not received a reply. The terms of their parking contract/terms were not posted (I took pictures after getting the letter) and at best maybe terms are hidden behind QR codes and "joining" online. I would not know because access is limited and behind "joining" something. I don't want to join anything from Premier Parking. Hiding contract terms is not the meeting of the minds / offer-acceptance required for contracts to be valid. I will begrudgingly pay the parking fee of $8 as a cost of parking. But, paying $70 is almost tenfold the $8 charge and feels like an extortion scam. No one would pay $78 dollars to park in the Gulch to briefly meet friends. If this $70 charge was actually posted - people would back up fast to get out of this garage. If I end up paying the $78.25 - then this will be the last time I go to businesses in the Gulch or park in a Premier Parking spot. If McKinley Payments accepts me paying the $8 parking charge only - then I may go back to the Gulch but never park in a Premier Parking spot.

I am rejecting this response because:

The mentioned connection I received from Metropolis was an automated denial response sent 7 min. after I emailed appealing to only pay the $8 parking fee owed vs the additional $70.25 arbitrary charge. I was told my request was denied due to ample signage in the garage. The signage that I could find was only a QR Code asking you to scan to join. I saw no signage detailing the $8 parking cost, or any costs for that matter, and certainly saw no signage about a $70.25 fee. I replied to that automated denial email and never got any further response. An automated reply sent in 7 min. was not a true appeal - it was a sham. I ended up paying the $78.25 in protest only to not get turned over to collections, and to prevent Metropolis from adding an additional $70 made up charge or worse (if they can pull $70.25 out of the air - then what prevents their next made up fee to be $7,000.25?). I have decided that I will let everyone on my various neighborhood/group/church ******** pages know about this practice and recommend they avoid parking with Metropolis, Premier Parking, or any of the businesses that use their lots.

      Sincerely,

On 9/15/22, my wife and I tried to find parking near Rolf and ******************** shortly before 6 p.m. . There was no street parking within several blocks. I parked at the the **************** Metropolis parking lot. I tried to scan the ** code without success. I tried calling the posted phone number without success. I tried texting to the appointed number without success. I gave up. I understand that there have been numerous complaints about this problem. I would have gladly paid if their systems were operational. I do not think I should be fined $70. 25 out of no fault of my own. I do not intent to pay that amount. I will gladly pay for the time I spent in their lot but I do not think that is an option. Add me to your list of people having the same problem and work with the company to address the problem. Thank you.

Metropolis Payments is attempting to charge me $76.25 on behalf of ***************; $6 for parking, $70.25 ticket fine for parking in their lot located at ********************************************************************** on 8/27 for 1 hour. This parking lot has recently adopted a new way to pay for parking which is by scanning a QR code and paying for parking online, which is the ONLY way you can pay for parking. I attempted 3 separate times to access the website to pay for parking, but the website was down. I was completely unable to pay for parking, and no one would pick up when i called. I ask for help that the ticket fee be waived due to the problem being on their end, and that the $6 parking fee also be waived due to the stress it has caused me as well as my time wasted. This issue was recently faced by many other consumers, and local ********* news has been reporting on this injustice. Thank you for your help.

I parked in the **** garage. The app to scan did not work so I was unable to pay anyone. I was there on 9/10/22 from 3:45 pm until 4:53 pm for a charge of $4.00. There was no way to pay. I have a ticket to pay via mail with a fine of $70.25. I will pay the $4.00, but not the fine of $70.25. I know that this group is a bunch of crooks preying on the public and have seen the expose on the local news.

      Update:
      1) I have heard from the company since I emailed them directly.
2)I am not satisfied with their response. I had a parking bill of $4. They charged over $70 fee, after my complaint they dropped it to $50. I told them it was not adequate, that I would only pay $4 since their parking app was not working and I could not pay at the time I parked. I did go ahead and pay the $50 the avoid future penalty. But would like them to reimburse my credit card $46 (fee minus the $4 parking). This company are crooks. Multiple complaints on BBB. There was even a local news story about their bad business practices. They should be shut down.

I used a parking lot owned by this business. I tried paying using the instructions given at the lot. Every attempt was unsuccessful. I assumed I would receive a bill in the mail, but only received one after a late fee was added. I disputed the fee using the given customer service option on **********************'s website. The dispute was denied (picture attached). I believe this business is using faulty payment methods to unfairly charge customers late fees.

Took my daughter to the doctor and parked in their lot never had I had a problem before. On September 7, ******************************************************* When living the property there where 4 employees at the exit and informed me that I had to pay them if I didn't download the app. I explained to them that I wasn't aware I had to download an app so I would just pay them in cash. Once I paid they let me exit the propriety. There where four employees there with uniforms and iPads. The company has pictures of me entering and exiting the property so they can identify the employees but they don't want to. I have called ************ them and emailed(***********************************************************) them with no luck. They are charging me 3 times more ($37.25) than I have ever paid when I take my daughter to the doctor. The most I have paid is $10.00 and on that day I paid $7.00. This to me is not right because if those people shouldn't have been there why didn't security stop them they have security driving around at all times. Why should I pay again if I took care of it on that day and all they have to do is look at their cameras. That to me is FRAUD.

So I paid in cash with your employees who didn't explain to me that if I paid with them I would still be getting a bill. The company has a recording of the employees but doesn't care to review the footage and is asking me to pay 3 times more than I have ever paid using that lot. This is FRAUD! I will not pay something I have already paid and the company knows because if you have a picture of me exiting the lot you have the picture of the employ and me handing over the money. I will be making a complain else where on Metropolis if that is a real company.

      Hi Mariamoran79,

Thank you for contacting Metropolis Payments. The violation was issued for non-payment at a private parking facility.

Per the parking operator: "The ample signage at the parking facility provides clear instruction to successfully complete parking payment. There are often multiple signs that contain verbiage such as 'How To Pay' or 'Scan To Park'."

Because there was clear instruction for parking payment, your violation dispute is denied.

Just like you have video of me, exiting the property and entering the property there should be a video of two people standing as I exit and pay them in cash. You need to go back and look at the cameras. I need someone to give me a call back as soon as possible. If I don't receive a call back within a week I am going to report this to the BBB because this looks like fraud. You are charging me for something that I have already paid for and there should have been proven because you have cameras.

Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.

As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
